08:58 PM rue_shop1: the first try didn't work
08:58 PM rue_shop1: its stuck togethor right now
08:58 PM rue_shop1: and hot as hell
09:04 PM Tom_L: you dipped it?
09:07 PM zhanx: got offered a field engineer job in NYC today
09:08 PM zhanx: problem is its only 50 an hour and the cost of living there is about 55 or more an hour
09:08 PM Tom_L: i would hate to work in NYC
09:08 PM zhanx: same here
09:08 PM Tom_L: i don't even want to visit it
09:08 PM zhanx: i do when i have too
09:09 PM zhanx: i countered with 250 an hour and left it at that
09:10 PM zhanx: they won't take that counter offer etc
09:12 PM Tom_L: and if they're crazy enough to?
09:12 PM zhanx: i'll cross that bridge then
09:13 PM zhanx: i highly doubt they will take it
09:13 PM Tom_L: well yeah..
09:13 PM zhanx: if they do i will commute or deal with it
09:14 PM zhanx: already told them i did salary and never doing it again I will only do hourly from now on
09:32 PM rue_shop1: 6 articles of good news
09:39 PM Tom_L: lets see?
09:48 PM * Tom_L thinks rue_shop1 is bluffing
09:51 PM Tom_L: i cut those pockets out another .002" and they fit great
10:20 PM Tom_L: ok bedtime. gotta get up at 3
10:33 PM rue_shop1: ok z, I tried a lost-pla casting with only minor pre-burnout
10:33 PM zhanx: pics?
10:34 PM rue_shop1: Tom_L, look for the pics I'll post tonight
10:34 PM rue_shop1: zhanx, its still in the sand
10:34 PM zhanx: hot fingers?
10:34 PM rue_shop1: oh, I didn't say I know if it works
10:34 PM rue_shop1: lots of sweat today
10:34 PM zhanx: i did all my business forms today
10:35 PM rue_shop1: I need to make some WAY finer casting sand
10:36 PM zhanx: oil and screen?
10:36 PM rue_shop1: I think I used like 60 grit
10:36 PM zhanx: 150
10:39 PM Tom_L: rue_shop1, how'd it go?
10:43 PM Tom_L: zhanx you're having forms made for all those things you listed?
10:44 PM zhanx: well i am making them and looking at printing costs
10:44 PM Tom_L: you need all those?
10:45 PM zhanx: well print as needed but print to check
10:45 PM Tom_L: invoice and quote could be the same form
10:45 PM zhanx: k
10:46 PM Tom_L: i guess it's up to the type of business and how you want it to be
10:46 PM zhanx: just working on forms etc
10:47 PM Tom_L: i did my own as well
10:47 PM zhanx: i figured that
10:48 PM Tom_L: but they were done for an impact printer
10:48 PM zhanx: dated
10:48 PM Tom_L: they originally had 3 copies but i got rid of one and now it's just 2
10:49 PM zhanx: i googled the price of it
10:49 PM Tom_L: i mean, you can write on them too
10:49 PM Tom_L: i have mine done locally
10:49 PM zhanx: its cheaper to print two copies then buy a pad
10:49 PM Tom_L: and only one piece of advertising mail
10:50 PM zhanx: the ad mail i need to look into
10:50 PM Tom_L: i get umm 2k done at once
10:50 PM Tom_L: mine are just reminders
10:50 PM zhanx: wow
10:50 PM Tom_L: and those are done 4 up and i cut them once i print the addresses one em
10:51 PM Tom_L: so the advert ends up being post card size once i cut them
10:51 PM rue_shop1: huh
10:51 PM rue_shop1: I didn't notice
10:51 PM Tom_L: print the full sheet x 4
10:51 PM Tom_L: then cut them
10:51 PM rue_shop1: but the aluminum did not come out the top vents prettymuch at all
10:51 PM rue_shop1: 5 mins, = image
10:52 PM rue_shop1: s
10:52 PM Tom_L: rue_shop1, how'd it go?
10:52 PM Tom_L: i really gotta get to sleep
10:54 PM rue_shop1: 3 mins
10:56 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1120538.jpg
10:56 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1120540.jpg
10:56 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1120541.jpg
10:56 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1120542.jpg
10:56 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tempimage/p1120543.jpg
10:56 PM rue_mohr: I love this new script
10:57 PM rue_mohr: 6 worked, 2 didn't
10:57 PM rue_mohr: the 2 that didn't just plugged up immediatly at the top
10:57 PM rue_mohr: I think, the vents got poured over and nothing went in
10:57 PM Tom_L: you dipped em this time?
10:57 PM rue_mohr: poured over them
10:57 PM rue_mohr: but I'd opened up the vents to 1/8"
10:57 PM rue_mohr: less a neck at the part
10:58 PM Tom_L: oh the ones you cut?
10:58 PM rue_mohr: yes
10:58 PM rue_mohr: I'd used a dremel disc and it was too thin
10:58 PM Tom_L: the bottom one seems to be working
10:58 PM rue_mohr: so I opened it up with the grinder / cutting disc
10:58 PM rue_mohr: yes
10:58 PM rue_mohr: funny enough, the top vents made it work, but the alum never got into them
10:58 PM Tom_L: those parts look pretty good
10:59 PM rue_mohr: yea
10:59 PM Tom_L: how many can you do at once?
10:59 PM rue_mohr: I was prettymuch able to do them consecutivly
10:59 PM rue_mohr: limits are
10:59 PM Tom_L: nice
10:59 PM rue_mohr: - me melting
10:59 PM rue_mohr: - getting them apart
10:59 PM Tom_L: get something to wear to block the heat
10:59 PM rue_mohr: I put new pins in, and they froze
10:59 PM Tom_L: i saw that
11:00 PM rue_mohr: so, lucky they weren't into the second peice much
11:00 PM Tom_L: how long does it need to cool before you separate it?
11:00 PM rue_mohr: the pins are stuck now, completely, I filed them a bit smaller to make going togethor and apart a bit easier
11:00 PM rue_mohr: about 10 seconds maybe
11:01 PM rue_mohr: I tried right away and it seemed ok
11:01 PM rue_mohr: fellow on the weekend was saying they had water channels in theirs
11:01 PM Tom_L: https://www.irwin.com/uploads/products/large/the-original%E2%84%A2-locking-c-clamps-with-regular-tips-289.jpg
11:01 PM rue_mohr: but it sound like it was a pressure injector too
11:01 PM Tom_L: weld some of those to the outside of it and get rid of the pins
11:01 PM rue_mohr: mmm
11:02 PM rue_mohr: another issue might be mold warpage
11:02 PM Tom_L: how's it holding up?
11:02 PM rue_mohr: I have to check them, but they aren't sandwhiching flat
11:02 PM rue_mohr: considering all in all? damn good
11:02 PM Tom_L: you saw the batch i did?
11:02 PM rue_mohr: they have blackened, no actaul scale
11:02 PM Tom_L: yeah that's great
11:02 PM rue_mohr: yes :)
11:03 PM Tom_L: i did 2 batches this evening and one yesterday
11:03 PM rue_mohr: I also want to change my ladel to have a pipe off the bottom like a teapot
11:03 PM Tom_L: the yesterday was test n tune batch
11:03 PM rue_mohr: heh
11:03 PM rue_mohr: you need a tube
11:03 PM Tom_L: for what?
11:03 PM rue_mohr: assemble one for completeness
11:03 PM Tom_L: naw
11:04 PM rue_mohr: heh, yea you said that before
11:04 PM rue_mohr: their still a choar to assemble
11:04 PM Tom_L: those you did cleaned up nice
11:04 PM Tom_L: i did all but the 1/4 hole
11:04 PM Tom_L: if i went with a bigger screw i might be able to drill that too
11:04 PM rue_mohr: that last image was just the flash and vent cut off, with a bit of a rub on the belt sander
11:05 PM Tom_L: i used a countersunk 4/40
11:05 PM Tom_L: so it was flush when milling
11:05 PM Tom_L: i can see the seam you didn't sand off
11:05 PM rue_mohr: :) try to get some sleep, you need to be up at 3am
11:05 PM rue_mohr: }:)
11:05 PM Tom_L: i just gotta wake my kid up
11:06 PM rue_mohr: I have to crack open me lost PLA
11:06 PM Tom_L: first day on his normal shift
11:06 PM Tom_L: 5-5
11:06 PM Tom_L: 4 days
11:06 PM Tom_L: 3 off
11:07 PM Tom_L: you should make a dimple in the side somehow to mark the hole locations
11:07 PM Tom_L: the edges look nice n smooth
11:10 PM Tom_L: did you show the mold to anybody?
11:30 PM rue_shop1: yup, some of the buddies
11:30 PM rue_shop1: "oh.."
11:31 PM rue_mohr: and the guy who said he worked in a factory that did something like that before
11:31 PM rue_mohr: he said to spray it with releast
11:32 PM rue_mohr: PAM would do he figures
11:32 PM rue_mohr: he made the suggestions on necking the vents
