02:05 PM rue_shop1: ok, I lit the smelter
02:39 PM Tom_L: waiting to see
03:17 PM rue_shop1: didn't work, when I was able to get the aluminum in, the vents weren't big enough
03:17 PM rue_shop1: so I'll open them up and put in another round (not today, I'm melted)
03:48 PM Tom_L: did that seem to be the right approach though?
03:49 PM Tom_L: wondering if i need to flip the part over and fill from the bottom (skinny end) first

04:35 PM Tom_L: seeing the way the metal flows i think it would do better upside down
06:02 PM Tom_L: how many A3 could you use?
06:17 PM rue_shop1: just got a visit from a fellow with some casting experience
06:17 PM rue_shop1: says to spray them with PAM
06:18 PM rue_shop1: and gave me a reccomendation on how to shape the vents
06:18 PM Tom_L: you think it still might work?
06:18 PM rue_shop1: Tom_L, our origional batches were 10 pieces, were more or less opening up the throttle and making silly amounts of parts stock now
06:18 PM rue_shop1: yes
06:18 PM rue_shop1: I'v not given up
06:19 PM rue_shop1: I'll modify it this week and maybe try again next weekend
06:19 PM Tom_L: i'm still working on a program to batch them
06:19 PM rue_shop1: :)
06:19 PM Tom_L: i do need the hole sizes though
06:19 PM rue_shop1: double sided cut with tabs in the middle?
06:19 PM rue_shop1: the main pin is 1/4"
06:19 PM Tom_L: i wrote down E drill and 1/16"
06:19 PM rue_shop1: so we overdrill it a hair
06:20 PM rue_shop1: and yea, were using rod for the other one
06:20 PM Tom_L: E and 1/4 are the same
06:20 PM Tom_L: main pin need to be reamed?
06:20 PM Tom_L: or just loose
06:20 PM rue_shop1: ah, #52 for the link apparently
06:21 PM rue_shop1: loose
06:21 PM rue_shop1: moderatly loose too, had one that got some corrosion in it
06:21 PM rue_shop1: ah we been using 6.5mm
06:21 PM Tom_L: #52 is .0635 and 1/16" is .063
06:21 PM Tom_L: .0625
06:22 PM Tom_L: sry
06:22 PM Tom_L: .001" difference
06:22 PM rue_shop1: yea, I think we been using 1/16 and let it overdrill
06:23 PM rue_shop1: the rod were using is .061
06:23 PM Tom_L: is the chamfer on the edge ok?
06:23 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/A3/A3_2.jpg
06:23 PM rue_shop1: yes
06:24 PM Tom_L: i don't think i sent you any did i?
06:24 PM Tom_L: it's smooth to the feel
06:25 PM rue_shop1: didn't send me any of those ones
06:25 PM rue_shop1: arg, I have to eat and go
06:25 PM Tom_L: i can't find that fixture, i must have reused it
09:30 PM Tom_L: ok i at least got some material cut to length
09:30 PM Tom_L: i can do 8 up on a 6" wide piece i think
09:31 PM Tom_L: haven't fixed the program yet but cutting stock anyway
09:31 PM Tom_L: i'm gonna do it different since i re'used the P2 vise jaws
09:31 PM Tom_L: i may just spot the "wire" hole and let you drill it
09:32 PM Tom_L: i'll see how it goes
11:02 PM rue_mohr: ?
11:03 PM rue_mohr: ok...
11:03 PM Tom_L: just messin...
11:03 PM rue_mohr: :)
11:04 PM Tom_L: cut enough to make 24 parts
11:04 PM Tom_L: 8 up
11:04 PM Tom_L: working on the program now
11:14 PM Tom_L: maybe only 7
11:32 PM rue_shop1: triggers?
