12:31 AM Tom_L: i do have another backup pc so all is not lost
12:35 AM zhanx: nothing is lost
12:35 AM zhanx: ok what is the program that fails to load
12:35 AM zhanx: and two why are you running them from the command line, need data
12:36 AM Tom_L: so it's not the program
12:36 AM zhanx: your killing me
12:37 AM zhanx: oh forgot
12:37 AM zhanx: i am dumb, system logs under the msc
12:37 AM Tom_L: it does run on this pc :)
12:38 AM Tom_L: even from an icon
12:38 AM Tom_L: opens a shell and runs
12:38 AM Tom_L: same os
12:38 AM Tom_L: win7 pro 32 bit
12:39 AM zhanx: do one thing
12:40 AM zhanx: check the paths on both systems
12:41 AM Tom_L: PATH=C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Windows Live;C:\Program Files\Intel\TXE Components\TCS\;C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;C:\Windows\System32\Wbem;C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Shared
12:42 AM Tom_itx: PATH=C:\WinAVR\bin;C:\WinAVR\utils\bin;C:\ProgramData\Oracle\Java\javapath;C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Windows Live;C:\Program Files\Intel\TXE Components\TCS\;C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;C:\Windows\System32\Wbem;C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Shared;C:\Program Files\AMD\ATI.ACE\Core-Static;C:\Program Files\AOMEI Backupper;C:\bat;C:\dos;C:\clip52;C:\ng;C:\wp;C:\util;C:\Program
12:42 AM Tom_itx: Files\Atmel\Flip 3.4.7\bin
12:46 AM Tom_L: i wonder if the spaces in the path are messin with the dos path
12:47 AM zhanx: they sould be progra~1 etc
12:47 AM zhanx: instead of program files
12:48 AM Tom_L: i don't even know what that java stuff is
12:50 AM Tom_L: it's a mystery to me
12:51 AM zhanx: personally i think you broke a compatibility thing
12:52 AM Tom_L: but it's not just on one program
12:53 AM zhanx: want to edit the registry by chance?
12:54 AM zhanx: go back to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe and change the default to exefile
12:55 AM zhanx: then goto the exefile and change it to "%1" %*
12:55 AM Tom_L: i'm gonna go to sleep i think
12:56 AM Tom_L: might try that tomorrow..err later today
12:57 AM zhanx: then move the KEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\open and make the defualt "%1" %*
12:57 AM zhanx: that will make it system paths
12:57 AM Tom_L: move it?
12:57 AM zhanx: move too
12:57 AM zhanx: tired
12:58 AM Tom_L: gnite
12:58 AM Tom_L: thanks
12:58 AM zhanx: need to finish this matrix
12:59 AM zhanx: think i am almost there
12:59 AM zhanx: nite Tom_L
01:00 AM zhanx: rue is gonna love me when done
01:33 AM rue_mohr: ?
01:34 AM zhanx: pi keyboard with out use
01:34 AM zhanx: usb
01:34 AM zhanx: saves a port
01:38 AM rue_shop1: did you guys get anything?
01:38 AM zhanx: kind of
01:38 AM zhanx: back up are good one works now
01:38 AM rue_shop1: but did he go from 32 bit to 64 bit?
01:38 AM zhanx: its weird
01:38 AM zhanx: no he did 64 to 32
01:38 AM rue_shop1: the origional story was just that he put linux on another drive and it stopped working
01:38 AM rue_shop1: hmm
01:38 AM zhanx: yea no
01:39 AM rue_shop1: even 32 would need one of the compatability wrappers
01:39 AM zhanx: like you i thought he broke the mapping
01:39 AM rue_shop1: WOWxx
01:39 AM zhanx: so I checked them all
01:39 AM zhanx: well all i knew which is most of them
01:39 AM zhanx: 64 boots now
01:40 AM zhanx: i swear ten minutes in front of it i could fix it
01:41 AM zhanx: rue_shop1, my soon to be issue, sourcing a battery for this robot controller
01:41 AM zhanx: 5v 3a draw max
01:41 AM zhanx: which is out of my realm
01:43 AM rue_shop1: wait, it he running 64 or 32!?
01:43 AM rue_shop1: 10V 1.5A
01:43 AM zhanx: both
01:43 AM rue_shop1: 20V 0.75A
01:43 AM zhanx: ah i see what your saying
01:44 AM zhanx: issue is
01:44 AM zhanx: he "i think" installed 64 bit first, did things to get dos to work
01:44 AM zhanx: then installed 32 bit
01:44 AM zhanx: and then ran with the 32 bit
01:46 AM zhanx: problem is rue you don't know what he did and he forgot over time
02:36 AM rue_shop1: yea
02:37 AM zhanx: i am out of flux
02:37 AM rue_shop1: flux core eh?
02:37 AM zhanx: wow the time
02:38 AM zhanx: I got all focused and didn't notice it
02:39 AM zhanx: i have power on/off
02:39 AM zhanx: brightness
02:39 AM zhanx: mouse toggle
02:39 AM zhanx: 4 way pad
02:39 AM zhanx: a bookmark key and a question key
02:40 AM zhanx: 3 side buttons
02:40 AM zhanx: and a mic button
02:41 AM rue_shop1: ?
02:41 AM rue_shop1: ah working
02:41 AM rue_shop1: with the pi?
02:41 AM zhanx: that kids toy, wiring up the stuff to the pi
02:41 AM zhanx: soon i should have the keyboard and mouse working via gpio
02:42 AM zhanx: well hopefully
02:42 AM zhanx: i killed to hacking part of it
02:43 AM zhanx: need it to work more
06:46 AM Tom_L: i didn't _go_ from 64 to 32 or from 32 to 64, i did a complete separate install on both of them originally
06:48 AM Tom_L: what is odd is the 2nd 32bit backup is doing the same thing and it hasn't been on in a very long time and was working when i unplugged it
06:48 AM Tom_L: it is a win7 32 bit dual boot with dos 6.22
06:49 AM Tom_L: i didn't try it last night but i'd bet the dos6.22 still is ok but cmd in win7 is not
02:53 PM rue_shop3: like I said, linux didn't modify anything
02:53 PM rue_shop3: bios drive mapping
02:54 PM rue_shop3: windows must be remapping the drives
04:28 PM Tom_L: ok at least i got the bank ok now
04:28 PM Tom_L: 3 years worth i had to go thru
04:29 PM Tom_L: rue_shop3, if so then tell me why it happened on a drive on another pc that was disconnected but working the last time it was plugged in?
04:31 PM Tom_L: there must be some way to fix it
04:31 PM Tom_L: i'm gonna ponder it a good while before i reinstall it all
04:38 PM Tom_L: and if it's the case why do the drives show up in windows as the correct drives? but not work in a cmd window?
04:38 PM Tom_L: i just don't quite get that
05:37 PM rue_shop3: so, when windows isn't involved the dos software works fine
05:38 PM rue_shop3: nothing changed on the drive to break things
05:38 PM Tom_L: i need to verify that but wasn't being used
06:54 PM Tom_itx: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/ae38c898-1e90-40b9-b91c-de47f9f1adb5/cmdexe-not-working-in-windows-7-x86-rtm?forum=w7itproperf
06:54 PM Tom_itx: bookmark
08:15 PM Tom_L: even after re'installing the system files it still doesn't work (tried on a clone copy)
08:16 PM Tom_L: everything else seems to work
08:32 PM Tom_L: i don't see anything in the bios that would affect this
08:46 PM Tom_L: the spare pc (dual boot win7 & dos) the dos section won't boot either, it complains about emm not set up correctly
08:47 PM Tom_L: this is becoming a nightmare
10:02 PM rue_shop1: try it with an older machine
10:02 PM rue_shop1: one that has "non-pnp OS" option in the bios
10:02 PM rue_shop1: apparently some part of the system was fragile...
10:22 PM Tom_L: i thought about that
10:22 PM Tom_L: i'll see what i've got around here
10:23 PM Tom_L: oh, another thing i noticed now was alot of the .exe drivers like mb drivers won't run
10:23 PM Tom_L: when i click on em in a directory list
10:24 PM Tom_L: some do but not all of em. i suppose some were written in 16bit and others weren't
10:25 PM Tom_L: i'm not touchin the main drive until i've got a backup working
10:26 PM rue_mohr: how new is the machine?
10:26 PM Tom_L: fairly new
10:26 PM Tom_L: the main one doesn't have M2 slot but the other test pc does
10:26 PM rue_mohr: yea, ok, so...
10:27 PM Tom_L: gigabyte
10:27 PM Tom_L: i could probably use this one
10:27 PM rue_mohr: still, your pushing it trying to use 16 bit programs on a 64 bit machine
10:27 PM rue_mohr: esp under windows
10:27 PM Tom_L: it's old enough or i have a D525 intel board i bet might work albeit slow
10:27 PM Tom_L: rue_mohr, i'm not trying to do that
10:28 PM rue_mohr: use an SSD, the baord isn't slow
10:28 PM Tom_L: it's a 32bit windows version
10:28 PM Tom_L: the 64bit one is a whole separate drive
10:29 PM Tom_L: this pc is an asrock Q1900B-itx which probably would work
10:30 PM Tom_L: J1900
10:30 PM Tom_L: but i hate to disturb it
10:30 PM Tom_L: it runs 24/7
10:31 PM Tom_L: pretty sure i can hook up the D525 at least on the table
10:31 PM Tom_L: it's on a 12v wart
10:37 PM Tom_L: had to do a mb hunt..
10:37 PM Tom_L: the asrock was in the gigabyte box..
10:38 PM Tom_L: and i've still got another older via epia board but it's not sata
10:39 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/itx/EPIA-MII-45.jpg
10:39 PM Tom_L: that
10:39 PM Tom_L: pretty much pig shit slow by today's standards
10:41 PM Tom_L: the asrock board is just like this one but an atx form instead of itx
10:41 PM Tom_L: what happened to the good days of collaboration and making stuff?
10:42 PM Tom_L: time is my enemy
10:43 PM Tom_L: i spend all day on books but i got em done
10:43 PM Tom_L: had to backtrack 3 yrs
