01:29 AM rue_bed2: nice
01:34 AM rue_bed2: I assumed from the top down, but yea
05:45 AM Tom_L: me too at first. in order to climb cut internal threads you start at the bottom
12:36 PM rue_bed2: and it makes more sense chjips wise
12:47 PM Tom_L: cuts easier unless you have a large rigid machine
12:47 PM Tom_L: conventional will still tend to pull into the work
12:48 PM Tom_L: the external threads start at the top for the same reason
12:52 PM Tom_L: i also added .002" clearance to the thread macro so the threads come out just right when you enter the pitch diameters
12:53 PM Tom_L: did the first one manually and it was tight using the actual dimensions so i added .002" to it
12:53 PM Tom_L: ran all 6 threads last night
12:54 PM Tom_L: gonna work on making the whole part start to finish now
03:48 PM rue_mohr: how many are you gonna make?
03:51 PM Tom_L: i got 6 goin so far
03:52 PM rue_mohr: sounds like your interested in more
03:52 PM Tom_L: maybe
03:53 PM Tom_L: good for holding a particular drill size
03:53 PM Tom_L: shorter than the drill chuck for clearance
03:53 PM Tom_L: and i can pre'set more than one at a time
03:54 PM rue_mohr: so your gonna keep your money on that chuck?
03:54 PM Tom_L: ?
03:54 PM rue_mohr: you wanted a different chuck, didn't you?
03:55 PM Tom_L: these would be more individual 'collets'
03:55 PM Tom_L: i have a drill chuck
03:55 PM Tom_L: but the chuck is a morse taper and a pain to swap during a program
10:26 PM Tom_itx: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/thread_mills/Mill_holder6.jpg
10:26 PM Tom_itx: from that
10:26 PM Tom_itx: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/thread_mills/Mill_holder7.jpg
10:26 PM Tom_itx: to that
10:26 PM Tom_itx: cleaned the end on the lathe then ran the part complete on the mill
10:27 PM Tom_itx: one program
10:30 PM Tom_itx is now known as Tom_L
10:32 PM Tom_L: one of the cross holes is threaded too
