12:55 AM rue_shop1: working on my freq gen
12:59 AM rue_shop1: 0.1 - 10Mhz
12:59 AM rue_shop1: little steps...
12:59 AM rue_shop1: zhanx, what kinda couplers did you use?
12:59 AM rue_shop1: something I suggested or what came with the parts kit?
12:59 AM rue_shop1: you used the crap that came with the kit didn't you?
12:59 AM rue_shop1: *sigh*
01:55 AM rue_mohr: --
04:28 PM zhanx: rue_mohr, nothing yet. calm down
04:28 PM zhanx: I will talk with you and show you photos etc
04:41 PM rue_mohr: sure, cause your historically been good with that
04:41 PM * Tom_L senses hostility
09:24 PM zhanx: wow blizzard ripped the old dish off the roof
09:27 PM Tom_L: doing some testing. the yellow/white are 2-56 internal & external and the green/purple are 1/2-13 internal external
09:27 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/Smartcam/threadmacro6.jpg
09:27 PM Tom_L: just W of us were getting 65mph blizzard gusts
09:28 PM Tom_L: so i think it's working ok now
09:29 PM zhanx: nice
09:29 PM zhanx: 70-78 mph here
09:29 PM Tom_L: yeah we've had those from time to time
09:30 PM Tom_L: straight line winds enough to knock down turnpike signs
09:30 PM zhanx: yep
09:30 PM zhanx: so left hand motor coupler i fixed failed again
09:31 PM Tom_L: :(
09:31 PM zhanx: gonna sand the shaft to give it grip
09:32 PM zhanx: after that and the swap over, i am making a cnc instead of a another 3d printer
09:32 PM zhanx: dremel as the head
09:32 PM Tom_L: don't do that
09:32 PM zhanx: why
09:32 PM Tom_L: you will get way too much chatter and do nothing but break cutters
09:32 PM Tom_L: they do not make mill spindles
09:32 PM zhanx: k
09:33 PM zhanx: then i will make my wax printer and filament printer
09:34 PM Tom_L: the sherline spindle is barely enough
09:34 PM rue_shop1: zhanx, what freaking coupler are you using!!!!!
09:34 PM Tom_L: what did you have as a spindle on your first one?
09:34 PM zhanx: rue_shop1, the one that came with my printed parts
09:34 PM rue_shop1: the dremels regulation sucks, and its not good for hrs
09:34 PM rue_shop1: zhanx, THROW THOSE AWAY
09:34 PM zhanx: Tom_L, porter cable router
09:35 PM zhanx: rue_shop1, throw me a design to replace them with
09:35 PM Tom_L: i'd suggest something similar but maybe a bit lower rpm if you plan to cut metal
09:35 PM rue_shop1: ALONG WITH ANYTHING THAT TIRES TO APPLY TENSION ON THE PLASTIC TO GRAB A SHAFT
09:35 PM rue_shop1: you know those nuts you wouldn't make?
09:35 PM zhanx: yep
09:35 PM zhanx: too small for a coupler
09:37 PM zhanx: rue_shop1, don't run off
09:39 PM zhanx: and he run off
09:40 PM Tom_L: you gotta be quick
09:40 PM zhanx: really quick
09:46 PM Tom_L: gettin lots of snow?
09:46 PM Tom_L: or just blowing alot
09:47 PM zhanx: both
09:47 PM zhanx: 8" since 4 pm
09:48 PM zhanx: i am preppe'd of course, i took the wife's car into town, snow mobile is plugged in for her
09:48 PM Tom_L: may take off tomorrow ehh?
09:48 PM zhanx: she can't its meth head day
09:55 PM rue_shop1: you will never listen to me about those couplers will ya?
09:55 PM rue_shop1: you cannot put tenstion on that plastic, dosn't work
09:55 PM rue_shop1: thats why I use the metal
09:55 PM rue_shop1: I know you never will
09:56 PM rue_shop1: I'll just repeat it enough times that you will one day atleast say it
09:56 PM zhanx: ok, like i said link me the couplers
09:56 PM zhanx: so i can either make or buy them
09:59 PM rue_shop1: are you using 10-24?
09:59 PM zhanx: no
09:59 PM zhanx: 5/16 rods
10:00 PM rue_shop1: ok, so, do you want to switch over while redoing the couplers to fix the wobble issue?
10:00 PM zhanx: one step at a time, i need to fix the couplers
10:01 PM zhanx: either i swap to bottom mount motors or better couplers
10:01 PM rue_shop1: I wanted to help you with all this stuff while you were building it
10:01 PM zhanx: you never had time
10:01 PM zhanx: i don't blame you
10:02 PM rue_shop1: so, most of the couplers I'm using now are either modified rod ends on the lathe or flexible pipe with zipties
10:02 PM rue_shop1: but you need to not change size if your using the pipe
10:03 PM zhanx: k
10:03 PM zhanx: pics? throw me a bone
10:04 PM rue_shop1: 1 min
10:07 PM rue_mohr: posting, dont run off
10:07 PM zhanx: waiting
10:07 PM rue_mohr: camera plugged in and unloaded
10:08 PM rue_mohr: copying image to working folder...
10:08 PM zhanx: editting mermaid for the niece
10:08 PM rue_mohr: running program to scale and upload...
10:09 PM rue_mohr: finding url on website...
10:09 PM rue_mohr: pasting...
10:09 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/images/p1110434-couper.jpg
10:09 PM zhanx: thats it?
10:10 PM rue_mohr: THAT, beleive it or not, is so far more than 100x more reliable than the printed couplers that come with the kit
10:10 PM Tom_L: vinyl tube
10:10 PM rue_mohr: yea
10:10 PM zhanx: ok
10:10 PM rue_mohr: I know eh?
10:10 PM zhanx: i have the tube and zip ties
10:10 PM Tom_L: figures
10:10 PM zhanx: i will try it
10:10 PM rue_mohr: but your 5mm:8mm
10:10 PM Tom_L: reprap don't do anything precision...
10:10 PM zhanx: rue yea and i have hot water
10:10 PM rue_mohr: so, to use #10 (5mm) you need a reducer nut
10:11 PM rue_mohr: that I designed
10:11 PM Tom_L: so for that get 2 sizes of tube and put one inside the other
10:11 PM rue_mohr: its a captured print
10:11 PM zhanx: no
10:11 PM zhanx: I can make it work
10:11 PM Tom_L: i did that on my water cooler iirc
10:11 PM rue_mohr: you drop the #10 nut into the print and it builds it out to the size of the 8mm nut
10:12 PM zhanx: ok link that
10:13 PM zhanx: rue you know i would rather not rebuild the whole thing etc
10:13 PM zhanx: sweet i have 4 #10 nuts
10:14 PM rue_shop1: I know
10:14 PM rue_shop1: it would have been better to have done it in the first place
10:14 PM zhanx: yes
10:14 PM zhanx: 5 failed prints this week etc
10:14 PM rue_shop1: pls tell me your not using 3d printed belt pullies
10:14 PM zhanx: no way
10:14 PM rue_shop1: yay
10:15 PM rue_shop1: we just need to do away with your lm8uu and were good
10:15 PM zhanx: yep and they are going away sat
10:16 PM zhanx: i am out of small zip ties and have to wait to buy them
10:16 PM Tom_L: bailing wire
10:16 PM Tom_L: wrap a couple times and twist it
10:17 PM zhanx: bailing twine here
10:17 PM Tom_L: mig wire
10:18 PM Tom_L: paper clip
10:19 PM zhanx: i can wait till sat
10:19 PM zhanx: fyi i do have lacing pliers
10:20 PM Tom_L: i wanna get a set of single point thread mills now but i dunno...
10:20 PM Tom_L: i've got safetywire pliers
10:20 PM Tom_L: lock on and pull to twist
10:20 PM zhanx: yep
10:21 PM zhanx: ok mermaid complete, now to figure out how to print it
10:22 PM zhanx: i need to make that flying j extruder and get dissoluble filament
10:46 PM rue_mohr: yes, on bailing
10:59 PM zhanx: its risky printing with power outages
11:04 PM Tom_itx: 2 car batteries = 24v
