04:02 PM zhanx: rue_mohr, not I was going to go with 6mm
04:06 PM zhanx: rue_mohr, printing off the sd card is nice
04:09 PM zhanx: Tom_itx, I used hot glue and fixed the problem
04:10 PM Tom_itx: appropriate
04:10 PM Tom_itx is now known as Tom_L
04:11 PM zhanx: yep
04:12 PM zhanx: took the photos rue wanted finally, since its printing on the kitchen table now
04:13 PM zhanx: 2 million questions later from the kids, the wife, her parents, the sister-in-law today
04:13 PM Tom_L: oh to be you...
04:13 PM zhanx: wife left to a nail party, so i took advantage of the free work space in the dinning room
04:14 PM zhanx: didn't realize they were all coming over for lunch
05:58 PM rue_mohr: oops
07:46 PM Tom_L: ping
07:46 PM Tom_L: that's better.
08:49 PM rue_mohr: hey
08:51 PM Tom_L: had to power down to fix an outlet
08:54 PM Tom_L: https://www.amazon.com/XP4850EH-Starting-Electric-Portable-Generator/dp/B00J7V5ENG
08:54 PM Tom_L: $399.00 & FREE Shipping
08:55 PM Tom_L: dual fuel
08:59 PM zhanx: back
09:00 PM Tom_L: z need a cheap gen?
09:01 PM zhanx: saw that and no
09:01 PM zhanx: i have a solar backup
09:01 PM zhanx: my gen is smaller for the heater and that is it
09:29 PM zhanx: Tom_L, you have seen the prusa i2 right? the printer me and rue have
09:30 PM zhanx: what my mod is doing is taking the top setup, copying it and moving it to the bottom
09:47 PM Tom_L: i've seen pics of them yes
09:47 PM Tom_L: top setup?
09:47 PM zhanx: normal is top
09:48 PM Tom_L: got a pic
09:48 PM zhanx: will tomorrow
09:49 PM Tom_L: what part are you moving to the bottom?
09:49 PM zhanx: z axis motors
09:50 PM Tom_L: oh
09:51 PM Tom_L: what advantage does that have?
09:51 PM zhanx: if you look at the x axis it hangs from the z motor couplers
09:52 PM Tom_L: i see that now
09:52 PM Tom_L: flipping the Z axis screws around?
09:52 PM zhanx: yep
09:52 PM Tom_L: what will that gain?
09:53 PM Tom_L: so the motors will mount to the upright supports?
09:53 PM zhanx: adding 6 printed parts and one threaded rod, then the x axis will push down on the threaded rod for the z axis not hang from it
09:53 PM Tom_L: i get that
09:53 PM Tom_L: is that for backlash?
09:53 PM zhanx: kind of
09:54 PM zhanx: my x axis has fallen off the coupler 4 times now
09:54 PM Tom_L: technically you need a thrust bearing so there is no axial load on the motor shaft
09:54 PM zhanx: that will be later
09:56 PM Tom_L: https://www.made-in-china.com/showroom/geeetech/product-detailEKUmikjTIphJ/China-Unassembled-DIY-Fully-3D-Printer-Kit-Prusa-Mendel-I2-Iteration-2-Reprap-Controller-Board-Sanguinololu-V1-3A.html
09:56 PM Tom_L: that one sure looks cluttered
09:57 PM zhanx: it does
10:41 PM zhanx: www.thingiverse.com/thing:2981547
10:41 PM zhanx: printing that to use my left overs
10:49 PM Tom_L: pretty soon you'll be making a filament extruder
10:50 PM zhanx: plan on it
