12:31 AM rue_mohr: RonoldoMoon, ping
12:38 AM zhanx: rue_mohr, I switched blue tape brands, no more lift
12:38 AM zhanx: weirdly its the cheapest brand i could find
12:38 AM rue_mohr: hmm
12:39 AM rue_mohr: the green worked better for me
12:39 AM zhanx: this is the harbor freight blue tape
12:39 AM zhanx: 3 bucks for a huge roll of it
12:39 AM rue_mohr: cool
12:39 AM rue_mohr: tell me if you find stuff 8" wide
12:40 AM zhanx: this is 2" wide
12:40 AM zhanx: I can get 8" wide tho
12:41 AM zhanx: the local body shop for cars should have a supplier for you
12:41 AM zhanx: parts trays
12:42 AM rue_mohr: but in blue/green?
12:42 AM zhanx: yes blue
12:42 AM rue_mohr: hmmm
12:42 AM zhanx: or green, the closes place to me paints semi's has 12"
12:42 AM rue_mohr: its amazing the tape companies havn't started making 3d bed tape yet
12:43 AM zhanx: the glass shop i checked uses 3 foot rolls and has 4 foot rolls of green
12:45 AM rue_mohr: huh
12:46 AM rue_mohr: I'll ask the glass shop, there is a body shop beside it
12:47 AM zhanx: why do you need it that big anyways?
12:47 AM rue_mohr: one peice on the bed
12:48 AM rue_mohr: *splat*
12:51 AM zhanx: https://www.tapeguys.com/12-wide-blue-formula-5-tape/
12:53 AM rue_mohr: k
12:55 AM zhanx: look at the brand on the box
06:36 AM Tom_itx is now known as Tom_L
02:53 PM rue_mohr: you think their using 3d printing tape for painting cars?
02:54 PM Tom_L: they use fineline tape by 3m
02:54 PM Tom_L: then printer's tape on top of that
02:54 PM rue_mohr: hmm
02:55 PM Tom_L: https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/company-us/all-3m-products/~/All-3M-Products/Automotive/Collision-Repair/?N=5002385+8709313+8711017+8716717+8745873+3294857497&rt=r3
02:55 PM Tom_L: plastic instead of paper
02:56 PM Tom_L: stretches good for rounded stuff
02:57 PM rue_mohr: zhanx,
02:57 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/projects/3dscanner/p1100903.jpg
02:57 PM rue_mohr: there is my 3d scanner :)
02:58 PM rue_mohr: I have it perfectly aligned
02:58 PM rue_mohr: within 10 degrees in every direction
02:58 PM rue_mohr: :))
02:58 PM Tom_L: heh
02:59 PM rue_mohr: its too bad I dont have the black rubber mat for the table anymore
02:59 PM rue_mohr: 22.5 / 45 setting switch?
03:24 PM rue_mohr: furrywolf, I'm working on cleaning up the image dir on my website
03:24 PM furrywolf: eww
03:24 PM furrywolf: that sounds like work.
03:25 PM rue_mohr: I'm only after progress, not completion
03:29 PM rue_mohr: furrywolf, http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/images/dscn0855.jpg
03:29 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/images/dscn0856.jpg
03:30 PM furrywolf: I added an image to my junk today... http://fw.bushytails.net/tmp/groundbolt12vpanel01.jpg
03:30 PM rue_mohr: hah, good and tight I hope!
03:30 PM rue_mohr: not much else you can do with big connections
03:31 PM furrywolf: stainless isn't particularly conductive, but I figure there's enough cross-section with all the washers and nuts...
03:33 PM furrywolf: peak current is only about 80A anyway
03:33 PM rue_mohr: the danger is generally in the middle ones comming loose
03:33 PM furrywolf: I cranked them all together nice and tight, one nut at a time.
03:34 PM furrywolf: that is, I tightened down each nut before putting more stuff onto the bolt.
03:35 PM furrywolf: that picture was pre-tightening
03:35 PM furrywolf: stupid bolt was $1.19... meanwhile the version without the extra 1/4" of threading is $0.19.
03:36 PM furrywolf: because it really costs an extra $1 to thread all the way to the head instead of leaving a shoulder.
03:36 PM rue_mohr: huh
03:38 PM furrywolf: http://www.biscotoolsupply.com/shop/images/bolt_ss_j.JPG most bolts only have threads at the end, not all the way to the head
03:38 PM furrywolf: since I wanted to put extra nuts on it, I had to get a special fully-threaded bolt
03:38 PM rue_mohr: yup
03:38 PM rue_mohr: or a peice of allthread
03:39 PM furrywolf: which, at the local hardware store, is $1.19, a full dollar more than the version with the shoulder, which was $0.19.
03:41 PM furrywolf: bbl, I was still working on that project... used a quick break in the rain to cut some wood to mount that box on, now need to start mounting things.
03:42 PM rue_mohr: what I need to do, is make like a time limited pastebin for images
03:42 PM rue_mohr: so they can be like autodeleted after 24 hours or soemthing
03:42 PM rue_mohr: lots of this stuff is just "see! like that!"
03:46 PM rue_mohr: furrywolf, http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/images/p1030395-tablesaw.jpg
03:47 PM rue_mohr: I'm down from 1G, to 840M
04:41 PM furrywolf: breaking news headline... propane truck crashed on the highway, tank broken, one mile radius closed. ouch.
04:41 PM rue_mohr: oops
04:41 PM rue_mohr: have a propane vacuum?
04:42 PM furrywolf: http://kymkemp.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Capture-14.png rain here on the coast, but it's doing that a bit inland.
04:42 PM furrywolf: (photo of an unrelated accident in the same area)
04:42 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/
04:42 PM rue_mohr: cleanup suggestions?
04:43 PM rue_mohr: structure improvements?
04:44 PM rue_mohr: I'm gonna somehow structure tempimage to delete images older than 24 hours when I upload to it
04:44 PM rue_mohr: rm `find (something) `
04:44 PM furrywolf: I haven't cleaned mine in 15 years. obviously I'm the wrong person to ask. :P
04:46 PM rue_mohr: thats just experience
04:46 PM rue_mohr: man everyone is mroe depressed than me
04:51 PM Tom_L: furrywolf i recall a few years back a gasoline truck blew up on a bridge here and popped the top layer of concrete off the bridge
04:51 PM rue_shop3: oof
04:56 PM Tom_L: no worse than them landing the police helicopter in the river once
04:57 PM Tom_L: the pad was less than 100 yds away...
04:58 PM furrywolf: worst landing I've seen was coast guard training... new guy forgot to flare, landed very, very hard. they shut the engine off, got out, looked around... poked at the skids a few times... decided "eh, good enough", got back in, started it back up, continued training.
05:00 PM furrywolf: best landing I've seen was fedex in a 50mph crosswind. cessna caravan. heading a full 45 degrees off from the ground track, landed like that, then skidded it around straight.
05:01 PM rue_shop3: ok, I turned the 3 todo lists into one huge list
05:01 PM rue_shop3: furrywolf, cool
05:01 PM rue_shop3: furrywolf, no ideas eh?
05:02 PM rue_shop3: you have never thought about what you would do different if you were gonna redo your website
05:02 PM furrywolf: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPn3MBNt7Rc like that
05:03 PM furrywolf: I like how when the runway comes into view, you realize the plane is going sideways. heh.
05:05 PM rue_shop3: wow
05:07 PM furrywolf: my second-favorite landing was one of our guys... cloudy day with really, really low ceilings. like 50ft. we figured he wouldn't be making it in, and were getting ready to head to wherever he diverts to, when we hear his plane coming. we look around... "there's no way he's landing in this!"....
05:08 PM furrywolf: then we see him... coming in under the clouds, almost skimming the bay. leaving a wake behind his plane.
05:08 PM furrywolf: we went out offshore until he found a hole he could drop down through, then came back just over the water the whole time.
05:09 PM furrywolf: he said he could see people pointing at him, and cars were stopping in the roads. lol
05:10 PM furrywolf: I'm fairly sure you're not allowed to fly that low. planes should not be leaving wakes. lol
05:12 PM rue_shop3: :)
05:12 PM rue_shop3: so what are ya doin now anyhow
05:13 PM furrywolf: eating
05:14 PM rue_shop3: I'm trying to motivate myself
05:15 PM furrywolf: I've often thought about making the website blog-like, where I add a short text blurb and group the relevant images when I post them. you can see how much progress I've made towards doing this.
05:17 PM rue_shop1: I'm getting closer
05:17 PM rue_shop1: so, when I upload images, I have a dir that I copy the images into, and I run a script for the place on the page its going to go
05:18 PM rue_shop1: like mecha.sh
05:18 PM rue_shop1: the script scales the images, uploads them, and updates the imagelist.txt file for the slideshow script
05:18 PM rue_shop1: I been thinking that it would be easy enough to have it also update a 'feed' page
05:18 PM rue_shop1: tailing off older stuff
05:19 PM rue_shop1: I suppose I could also have the script look for a blerb.txt that it could mash into things somehow
05:20 PM rue_shop1: hmm, my problem is lack of fascination
05:20 PM rue_shop1: hmmm
05:21 PM rue_shop1: what can I get engrossed in right now...
05:21 PM rue_shop1: I wonder how long the house will take to get to lockup
05:21 PM furrywolf: build a fursuit
05:21 PM rue_shop1: I recon I'll be living out of a 96'^2 shed till its done
05:22 PM rue_shop1: furrywolf, love to, it doesn't have high enough priority in my objectives
05:22 PM rue_shop1: mmm 4 arms....
06:40 PM Tom_L: never did see the plans
06:44 PM rue_mohr: I posted them
06:44 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/projects/newhouse/
06:51 PM Tom_L: hmm
07:17 PM rue_mohr: wow its amazing how many times bots have scraped the whole site
07:20 PM rue_mohr: who the hell is wgetting the page that has my home ip?
07:22 PM rue_mohr: ok thats 83M of uselessness
