03:27 PM zhanx: I was extruding at 10x what I needed to be
03:27 PM zhanx: oops for typos
03:28 PM rue_mohr: did you ever work out the delta calculations?
03:29 PM zhanx: no
03:29 PM zhanx: between work, kids and xmas stuff I haven't had time
03:29 PM zhanx: I needed to get the printer back up
03:51 PM zhanx: ok rue the quality is back up on the printer, when I get back I can start on the y axis stuff
03:52 PM rue_mohr: do you remember what nuts to modify?
03:53 PM rue_mohr: do you remember where I put the photolog?
03:53 PM zhanx: 3/8-20 right
03:53 PM zhanx: on a different pc once sec
03:56 PM zhanx: weird it not in here http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/objects/rue_reprap/
03:56 PM rue_mohr: hmm
03:56 PM rue_mohr: did it dissapear?
03:56 PM rue_mohr: cause there were some server changes, and I think they lost some stuff
03:57 PM zhanx: that is where it was suppose to be, I got the test square from the parent folder
03:57 PM rue_mohr: scp *.jpg rue@ruemohr.org:public_html/~ircjunk/tutorials/mech/reprapYgearbox/
03:57 PM zhanx: oh
03:57 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tutorials/mech/reprapYgearbox/
03:57 PM rue_mohr: bingo
03:57 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tutorials/mech/reprapYgearbox/slide.htm
03:58 PM rue_mohr: DONT DRILL YOUR FINGER
03:58 PM zhanx: and the part is on thingiverse for me to print, check
03:58 PM rue_mohr: 3/8-16
03:58 PM zhanx: k
03:59 PM rue_mohr: ok I need to redo the tap chart
03:59 PM zhanx: then I will swap them out tomorrow for the right ones
03:59 PM zhanx: ok bbl
04:01 PM rue_mohr: he's gonna drill his finger isn't he?
04:03 PM zhanx: never mind the Santa thing was canceled and no I have a drill press
04:03 PM rue_mohr: santa thing?
04:04 PM zhanx: photos with him for the kids
04:04 PM rue_mohr: oh no
04:04 PM rue_mohr: different mall? santa is omnipresent
04:05 PM zhanx: its a 1/2 hour drive to town for me, let alone a mall
04:05 PM rue_mohr: I wonder how poly resin machines
04:06 PM zhanx: Suppose to be at the fire hall but santa also is the fire chief and there is a house fire for them to save the cellar of
04:07 PM rue_mohr: containment, ouch
04:07 PM zhanx: abandoned according the father in law
04:07 PM rue_mohr: not a good side of the airlock to be on
04:08 PM zhanx: ok, wife said get working on her mason jar holders.
04:08 PM rue_mohr: easy, screw in the lid to the bottom of the shelf, done!
04:09 PM rue_mohr: I wonder how much shop-floor-glass-shards thats responsible for
04:10 PM zhanx: lots
04:11 PM rue_mohr: oh no, one of my proofs was wrong
06:24 PM zhanx: rue these pics no clean up
06:27 PM zhanx: rue_mohr, https://imgur.com/a/2syzoUS
06:28 PM zhanx: still uploading
06:40 PM furrywolf: that surface finish does not improve my opinion of 3d printing...
06:40 PM rue_shop5: Tom_L, 1/8" bit in alu
06:41 PM rue_shop5: what feed/step/rpm would you use
06:41 PM rue_shop5: I'm 80mm/min, 0.2mm, 2900
06:41 PM zhanx: furrywolf, that is good
06:42 PM furrywolf: rue_mohr: until the bit breaks, then back off a bit.
06:42 PM zhanx: rue_shop5, that is .15 at same
06:42 PM rue_shop5: zhanx, nice
06:42 PM zhanx: you were right rue_shop5 , it was my mistake
06:43 PM rue_shop5: ? which what?
06:43 PM zhanx: extruder steps
06:43 PM rue_shop5: ? ok
06:43 PM zhanx: 10x the right ones, i added a zero for some damn reason
06:43 PM rue_shop5: k
06:43 PM zhanx: i fixed it
06:43 PM rue_shop5: its printing good!
06:43 PM zhanx: now it prints like yours
06:43 PM rue_shop5: so, do the pinion gear!
06:43 PM zhanx: witha bonus of teaking it all
06:44 PM zhanx: its next, my wanted a car
06:44 PM zhanx: furrywolf, those lines are .15mm smaller than paper
06:45 PM rue_shop5: k
06:45 PM zhanx: its quick 45 minutes tops for his wall
06:45 PM zhanx: i have to balance the fixing it, and making stuff to make the wife happy
06:46 PM rue_shop5: furrywolf, we need to get your cnc working
06:46 PM zhanx: yes we do
06:46 PM rue_shop5: apparently I bought $75 of stepper drivers from china.. I need to make a new machine
06:47 PM zhanx: wow
06:47 PM furrywolf: I need to get a place to do things.
06:47 PM furrywolf: and enough energy and strength to do things.
06:48 PM zhanx: i use my kitchen table right now
06:48 PM rue_shop5: furrywolf, hows the dining table looking?
06:48 PM furrywolf: my router table is larger than my kitchen, in either direction.
06:48 PM rue_shop5: could use a 4x8 upgrade?
06:48 PM furrywolf: I don't have a dining table.
06:48 PM rue_shop5: hmm
06:48 PM rue_shop5: well you need a dining table!
06:48 PM furrywolf: I have a desk. It functions as everything.
06:48 PM rue_shop5: then you can get rid of it and replace it with the cnc!
06:49 PM rue_shop5: gee winter is depressing!
06:49 PM furrywolf: this place is too small
06:49 PM furrywolf: it won't fit in the living room either.
06:49 PM furrywolf: or any other room.
06:51 PM rue_shop5: you just refuse to put it up on an angle
06:51 PM rue_shop5: everyone mounts their work to the able and uses holding tabs
06:52 PM rue_shop5: I dont know , if I work on you, if I can get you to give on that
06:52 PM furrywolf: how many cnc plasma cutters have you used?
06:52 PM rue_shop5: but your not into doing wood/aluminum, so the livingroom prolly woulnd't work out anyhow
06:52 PM rue_shop5: furrywolf, but what kinda stuff would you do with the plasma cutter!?
06:53 PM furrywolf: this place is about 400 square feet. I've had my sherline in it, and that's about its limit.
06:54 PM rue_shop5: hmm, one would think that 3.5mm would clear thru 1/8" aluminum when you only have a 0.25mm over-gap
06:54 PM rue_shop5: you got a sherline!!!
06:54 PM rue_shop5: cool stuff!
06:54 PM rue_shop5: what did you do with it???
06:55 PM furrywolf: I've had a sherline for a long time.
06:55 PM furrywolf: like, a decade.
06:55 PM rue_shop5: what have you done with it?
06:55 PM rue_shop5: I did a snowflake, cut out of a cd
06:55 PM furrywolf: not much, due to having nowhere to use it, and no working cad/cam.
06:55 PM rue_shop5: that was REALLY hard
06:56 PM rue_shop5: I can help you with the cadcam if you let me
06:56 PM furrywolf: biggest project was some holders for mr16 lamps... that's about the limit of my manual g-code writing skills.
06:56 PM rue_shop5: dude, let me show you the process I use for cadcam!
06:56 PM rue_shop5: cmon....
06:56 PM rue_shop5: I'm not a good salesman, work with me here
06:57 PM rue_shop5: 8-|
06:57 PM furrywolf: have you found working cad software?
06:57 PM rue_shop5: cmoooooon
06:57 PM rue_shop5: yes, I just redid the nc program for the paint sprayer were making
06:57 PM rue_shop5: cmon, cmon , cmon
06:57 PM zhanx: thats just wrong
06:58 PM furrywolf: what cad software do you use?
06:58 PM rue_shop5: librecad v1
06:58 PM rue_shop5: cause there are only 2 relivent bugs to work around
06:58 PM furrywolf: isn't librecad 2d-only?
06:58 PM rue_shop5: v2 cant do tangent intersections worth crap
06:59 PM rue_shop5: yes, you gonna listen to the whole story?
06:59 PM rue_shop5: wow, this sounds like an uphill battle
07:00 PM rue_shop5: I do EVERYTHING 2.5D
07:00 PM rue_shop5: look at my thingiverse stuff and you will see that I can do about anything
07:01 PM furrywolf: can you build me a shop? :P
07:01 PM rue_shop5: well I'd need a freaking huge cnc
07:01 PM rue_shop5: or 3d printer... hmmm
07:01 PM rue_shop5: might need both
07:01 PM rue_shop5: anyhow
07:02 PM rue_shop5: can I make a gear with you using your cnc or not?
07:02 PM furrywolf: I have no working cnc machines.
07:02 PM rue_shop5: sherline?
07:02 PM furrywolf: the sherline is burried in storage, and currently every axis is frozen solid. the last project I did on it was cutting soapstone, and it formed some form of concrete with the way grease.
07:02 PM rue_shop5: your depressed, I dont know if you know it, but ya are... (dont get more depressed about it)
07:03 PM rue_shop5: well, why dont we make the nc file and go from there
07:03 PM rue_shop5: chicken and egg
07:03 PM furrywolf: the shoptask (lathe/mill combo) is burried in storage, and the electronics, while actually connected to it, are in a pile next to it, not in an enclosure, no heatsinking, etc, and is just jury rigged well enough for the one test I did.
07:04 PM furrywolf: the router table is burried in storage, and the design issues it had make it pretty much useless - it's not making anything until it's re-engineered.
07:04 PM rue_shop5: watch out for the words "I dunno" as an automatic reaction to anything anyone says, its DEEP depression
07:05 PM rue_shop5: cmon, shall we make an nc file
07:05 PM rue_shop5: I have 4 hours left to live
07:07 PM rue_shop5: "rather not"????
07:07 PM rue_shop5: wtf kinda answer is that????
07:07 PM rue_shop5: ugh
07:07 PM rue_shop5: zhanx, can you teach me brainwashing?
07:08 PM furrywolf: ... are you hearing voices or something? :P
07:08 PM rue_shop5: dude, if I didn't, there would be nobody to talk to
07:09 PM * rue_shop5 waves at furrywolf (I'm always here too)
07:10 PM furrywolf: the first project, before I can do anything with these machines, is find somewhere to use them.
07:10 PM furrywolf: I've been trying to buy a house, but they consistently go for way, way, way, way more than I can afford.
07:10 PM rue_shop5: chicken and egg dude
07:10 PM furrywolf: the place I looked at last month ended up selling for $280k....
07:11 PM rue_shop5: you CAN learn what I know about cadcam now
07:11 PM rue_shop5: which breaks the loop
07:11 PM furrywolf: now I'm exhausted, ill, and watching fursuiting videos.
07:12 PM furrywolf: I wanted to build shelving today, but was way too useless to get anything at all done.
07:12 PM rue_shop5: ... looney toons?
07:13 PM rue_shop5: ok, I'll have to find something else to do before I die
07:14 PM furrywolf: no, not loony tunes. things like https://youtu.be/uUHE-E-DOVI?t=1951
07:32 PM rue_shop5: this cnc job seems to be going ok, pretty complex file
07:32 PM rue_shop5: so I recon I'll go play with the new computer I scavanged
07:33 PM furrywolf: awww, and here I figured you were watching people look silly trying to dance in fursuits. :P
07:50 PM zhanx: rue_shop5, current state of printer https://imgur.com/a/2RIwDAW
07:54 PM zhanx: rue be happy i am taking pics, and also what is slow for the print speed like you said
08:05 PM rue_mohr: nice
08:05 PM rue_mohr: few more zipties would help it out
08:07 PM zhanx: a lot more
08:07 PM zhanx: gonna reprint the holder now that its right
08:08 PM zhanx: rue bet i can get .05mm layer height
08:14 PM rue_mohr: the spool holder?
08:14 PM rue_mohr: mine is more space efficient
08:14 PM rue_mohr: zhanx, thicker is stronger
08:15 PM rue_mohr: 0.25mm is a good strong print
08:15 PM zhanx: k
08:15 PM rue_mohr: .22 is a good fine quality, higher is art grade
08:15 PM rue_mohr: 0.5mm is rough-n-tumble part
08:15 PM zhanx: rue_mohr, thankfully now i am printing good again
09:07 PM rue_mohr: P8H61-M what did i win? is it even 64 bit?
09:08 PM rue_mohr: i3, i5, or i7
09:08 PM rue_mohr: are any of those 64 bit?
09:12 PM rue_mohr: wtf is it with trying to make your bios its own OS with a gui
09:13 PM rue_mohr: guess I have to boot 'er up and see what the processor it
09:35 PM rue_mohr: "quad" i3-2120
09:38 PM rue_mohr: Intel® 64 ‡ Yes
09:38 PM rue_mohr: which is funny, cause intel didn't invent 64bit x86, amd did
10:06 PM Tom_L: i5 i7 could be 64 bit
10:20 PM rue_mohr: they say the i3 is
10:20 PM rue_mohr: kinda
10:20 PM rue_mohr: its not being a good technology weekend for me
10:22 PM rue_mohr: crap, I just wrote 3 disks with a bogus image
10:24 PM rue_mohr: as if its not bad enought hat every time I need to use a disk I have to write a new one cause the old ones dont work
