03:34 PM zhanx: I renewed my NACI and tons of work is calling now its great
03:55 PM Tom_L: always good to eat
03:55 PM zhanx: yep
05:06 PM zhanx: Tom_L, love having this printer working again
05:07 PM zhanx: I made a 3d scanner (Ciclop by Cowtech) and making toys for the kids. A google mini home mount
05:07 PM zhanx: etc
06:09 PM rue_mohr: I'm back
06:09 PM rue_mohr: sechelt to ashcroft and back
06:16 PM zhanx: fun day then?
06:19 PM Tom_L: fun for you it sounds
06:22 PM zhanx: rue_mohr, drove all day and worked what 20 minutes of that?
07:13 PM zhanx: rue_mohr, So my wife had that poop emoji I printed at work today
07:13 PM zhanx: One of the doctors now wants my help 3d printing stuff
07:40 PM zhanx: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/CNC-Shield-V4-3Pcs-A4988-Driver-Nano-CH340-for-arduino-CNC-3D-Printer/32879888695.html
07:41 PM zhanx: ordered that for my 3d scanner so i can be lazy and finish\
07:41 PM zhanx: it
07:44 PM zhanx: Tom_L, working for USPS tomorrow, as many places as I can hit in a row and again friday
07:44 PM zhanx: network upgrades
07:51 PM Tom_L: nice
07:52 PM zhanx: after my NACI came back, I get to upgrade as many as I can handle
07:52 PM zhanx: every small town has a post office etc
07:53 PM zhanx: 100 each plus travel and mileage, I can hit 5-6 a day for the next 3 months
07:53 PM Tom_L: pack your bags
07:53 PM zhanx: i know right
07:54 PM zhanx: traveling to small town USA
07:54 PM Tom_L: tell her you'll be deployed for 6mo :)
07:54 PM zhanx: 6mo? lol it would take longer than that
07:55 PM Tom_L: my partner goes quite a ways out and stays overnight alot of times
07:55 PM zhanx: I said 200 mile radius with hotels extra etc.
07:56 PM Tom_L: card scanner upgrades?
07:56 PM zhanx: full system
07:56 PM Tom_L: who trains them?
07:56 PM zhanx: each place will require 3 trips for it
07:56 PM Tom_L: or is the software the same
07:57 PM zhanx: no clue
07:57 PM zhanx: You would think its the same or close to it for the software
08:34 PM rue_mohr: zhanx, ~850km trip, stayed over a day
08:35 PM zhanx: wow
08:53 PM rue_mohr: truck did good
08:53 PM rue_mohr: doesn't like trying to do 90 up an incline
08:54 PM rue_mohr: but on a flat it can get to 120
09:01 PM zhanx: print failed what is the gcode to recover at current spot?
09:01 PM rue_mohr: nope
09:02 PM rue_mohr: pronterface has a recover, but it wont work
09:02 PM rue_mohr: if the run doesn't work, your pooched
09:02 PM rue_mohr: you tried to print something too big?
09:02 PM zhanx: no the filament broke
09:02 PM rue_mohr: it curled and when it broke loose (see the video in high speed) it snagged the head?
09:03 PM rue_mohr: broke!? erp
09:03 PM zhanx: so start over?
09:03 PM rue_mohr: you didn't use a bowden tho
09:03 PM zhanx: i don't
09:03 PM rue_mohr: you should have time to make a new end a chase it in
09:03 PM zhanx: i was with the wife
09:03 PM rue_mohr: make sure the old and new ends are straight... k
09:04 PM rue_mohr: its transluctne filament?
09:04 PM rue_mohr: translucent?
09:04 PM zhanx: no black
09:05 PM rue_mohr: huh
09:05 PM rue_mohr: usually dosn't happen with black
09:05 PM rue_mohr: how much into the roll are you?
09:05 PM rue_mohr: tail end?
09:05 PM zhanx: yep
09:06 PM rue_mohr: hmm
09:06 PM rue_mohr: yea, the last few tight turns done like to be bent thru things
09:06 PM rue_mohr: if you can anneal it a bit it might help
09:06 PM rue_mohr: but ~
09:08 PM zhanx: got it
09:09 PM rue_mohr: if you let the plastic sit for a while near the end of the spool, it'll often fracture
09:10 PM rue_mohr: only the stressed bit will do it, past the first few inches and it'll often be ok
09:10 PM rue_mohr: the green on the big machine is broken right now, its bowden, so its a S N O T to refeed
09:32 PM Tom_L: so rue_mohr is back among the living...
09:33 PM rue_mohr: yea, last second raod trip
09:33 PM rue_mohr: google map sechelt, then 'ashcroft'
09:34 PM rue_mohr: it was a hell of a road trip
09:34 PM rue_mohr: we took the long way around the mountian in, and highway 1 out
09:35 PM Tom_L: only 55 min to fly
09:35 PM rue_mohr: heh
09:36 PM rue_mohr: ~6hrs in and 4 hrs out
09:36 PM Tom_L: find a shortcut?
09:40 PM Tom_L: so 10 hrs * hourly rate = cheaper to fly
09:42 PM rue_mohr: it was a road trip me and mom
09:42 PM rue_mohr: brought back a bunch of stuff
09:43 PM rue_mohr: saw some awesome country
09:43 PM Tom_L: oh
09:43 PM rue_mohr: ashcroft is basically a dessert
09:43 PM Tom_L: well then.
09:43 PM Tom_L: time spent = priceless
09:43 PM rue_mohr: brought back some sage and cactus
09:44 PM rue_mohr: ok, so
09:44 PM rue_mohr: I did it, I wrote a neural network AND a system to train it
09:44 PM Tom_L: hard to follow the bear sometimes
09:45 PM rue_mohr: he can get long windid
09:45 PM rue_mohr: I like to hear from him tho
09:45 PM Tom_L: yeah but i can see he's not what he was
09:46 PM rue_mohr: life is dealing him one hell of a bad hand
09:47 PM Tom_L: i know
09:50 PM rue_mohr: http://paste.debian.net/1046441/
09:50 PM rue_mohr: zhanx, ^^
09:50 PM zhanx: looking
09:51 PM rue_mohr: sorry, it wasn't written to make much sense, but it works,
09:51 PM zhanx: i can read it
09:51 PM rue_mohr: I plan to throw a bunch of junk at it and see what works
09:52 PM zhanx: fuck 3d printer breaks and now the 2d printer
09:52 PM rue_mohr: I have an idea that might work
09:52 PM rue_mohr: zhanx, what borke?
09:52 PM rue_mohr: zhanx, your just full time printer repair guy
09:53 PM zhanx: i swear that is my life now
09:53 PM zhanx: good thing I am installing 4 vsats tomorrow
09:53 PM rue_mohr: did the 3d rpinter break or just the filament
09:53 PM rue_mohr: ?
09:53 PM zhanx: filament
09:54 PM zhanx: and its stuck
09:54 PM rue_mohr: good show
09:54 PM rue_mohr: shoot mea pic of that printer eh? overall?
09:54 PM zhanx: not messinig with it tonight
09:54 PM rue_mohr: I want to know what upgrades I can suggest
09:54 PM zhanx: k
09:54 PM rue_mohr: yea, I got a bunch of improvements I want to throw you pics of, see if your into any of them
09:55 PM zhanx: sent to your email
10:07 PM furrywolf: yay unplanned projects. neighbor left a hose running, which runs off my well... and drew the well down to the where the marginal pump couldn't get water out of it except in occasional spurts.
10:08 PM Tom_L: cased well or point?
10:08 PM furrywolf: cased
10:08 PM Tom_L: i had to pull a point this year and replace it
10:08 PM furrywolf: 4" diameter, 30ft deep, simple suction pump on the surface, not a submersible pump.
10:08 PM Tom_L: shallow well
10:09 PM furrywolf: my neighbor where I used to live had a 10ft well. worked year-round. :)
10:09 PM Tom_L: i hit water around 10'
10:09 PM Tom_L: just for irrigation
10:09 PM furrywolf: most wells here are in the 30-50ft range
10:09 PM Tom_L: my friend's is 120'
10:09 PM furrywolf: there's still some ~20ft hand-dug ones in use, but they produce really shitty water.
10:10 PM furrywolf: yeah, there's deep wells here too
10:10 PM Tom_L: i'm in good soil
10:11 PM zhanx: https://imgur.com/a/9WcbNbJ.
10:11 PM furrywolf: I was going to go for 40ft, but the mud pump died at 30ft, so I set casing and called it good. heh.
10:12 PM zhanx: the laser holders are done, just didn't take a photo
10:12 PM Tom_L: the guys around here that do the 'good' wells use 8" casing
10:13 PM Tom_L: z what is it?
10:13 PM furrywolf: I was doing a cheap well. :P
10:13 PM zhanx: for scale that role is 1/2"
10:13 PM zhanx: 3d scanner
10:13 PM Tom_L: ahh ok
10:14 PM furrywolf: that... does not look like how I'd build a 3d scanner.
10:14 PM rue_mohr: zhanx, tell me if you find the software for that scanner
10:14 PM zhanx: dual laser with a camera in the center, all know distances?
10:14 PM rue_mohr: cause it was vaporware when I looked for it
10:14 PM zhanx: rue ok
10:15 PM zhanx: you want the link
10:15 PM rue_mohr: heh, huge ass print
10:15 PM zhanx: that max'd out my printer
10:15 PM rue_mohr: I built one of those in 2002 and asked my programming buddies to help with software
10:16 PM rue_mohr: looks like you definitly need z slider stabalization
10:16 PM furrywolf: I'd consider bolted bits of random aluminum to be the minimum for a 3d scanner, not... what even is that?
10:16 PM furrywolf: packing foam?
10:16 PM zhanx: i am emailing these to you also rue_mohr
10:16 PM rue_mohr: k
10:17 PM zhanx: i have a bent rod
10:17 PM zhanx: you will see it
10:17 PM furrywolf: I've heard most men do.
10:18 PM zhanx: https://imgur.com/a/A66ZWZj
10:19 PM furrywolf: oh, it's 3d print, not foam... that's not AS bad...
10:19 PM zhanx: furry with the bent rod, it causes those lines
10:20 PM furrywolf: http://fw.bushytails.net/bentleadscrew01.jpg I'll see your bent rod, and raise you the x leadscrew on my mill/lathe combo. :)
10:20 PM zhanx: bent not broke
10:21 PM furrywolf: that's why I got it cheap... someone nudged it with the forklift, knocked it off its stand. heh.
10:21 PM furrywolf: eh? that's just bent, not broken.
10:21 PM zhanx: heat it fix it
10:22 PM furrywolf: which is what I did.
10:23 PM furrywolf: http://fw.bushytails.net/milltest01.jpg so far, the only cnc thing I've actually cut on it... it's too badly packed into a storage unit to work on, and I can't do real projects since the electronics are all in a big pile with no heatsinks since I need to build a box for them.
10:23 PM rue_mohr: zhanx, ok,
10:23 PM rue_mohr: you want to go to samller z rods
10:23 PM rue_mohr: I ahve a nut adapter you can use
10:23 PM rue_mohr: 10-24 or M5
10:24 PM rue_mohr: you embedded-print the smaller nut
10:24 PM zhanx: email it
10:24 PM rue_mohr: use a section of food grade soft pipe for the motor coupler
10:24 PM rue_mohr: gets rid of 90% of the z wobble, cause the rod isn't ridgid enought ot do it
10:24 PM rue_mohr: zhanx, whats easier for you got get, 10-24 r M5?
10:25 PM furrywolf: am I the only one here who likes building things from supplies actually suitable for building things with?
10:25 PM zhanx: M5 i think
10:25 PM rue_mohr: furrywolf, :), its an adventure when you have to build with what you can get
10:26 PM zhanx: which i do also
10:26 PM Tom_L: i did the whole mill from mostly scraps
10:26 PM zhanx: that scanners is a mix of both
10:26 PM rue_mohr: zhanx, is the part of the Y belt thats attached to the carrige inline between the pullies?
10:26 PM furrywolf: for example, if I need to couple two shafts, my first thought would be a shaft coupler... not a piece of plastic pipe.
10:27 PM zhanx: yes rue_mohr
10:27 PM Tom_L: costs less and performs the same task
10:27 PM zhanx: my y needs and upgrade
10:28 PM rue_mohr: zhanx, anymore skipping problems? want to try the geared ZY drives?
10:28 PM rue_mohr: oh and I have the new Y bearing system too
10:28 PM zhanx: I can, and no
10:28 PM rue_mohr: nonbinding
10:28 PM rue_mohr: k
10:28 PM rue_mohr: you need a new Y mount anyhow
10:28 PM zhanx: tomorrow i get 15 kilos of filament
10:28 PM zhanx: i do
10:30 PM zhanx: now that the wife is happy with the printer, the 3d scanner is made, the toys are made, I think i have 8 days before I have a task
10:31 PM furrywolf: I need a shop before I can use any of my toys.
10:31 PM zhanx: see furrywolf have shop now making toys
10:32 PM furrywolf: the hardest part of a shop is somewhere to put it... land is stupidly expensive here.
10:34 PM rue_mohr: zhanx, I should fire you the arduino holder too
10:34 PM zhanx: dont
10:34 PM zhanx: I switched to nano pro's
10:34 PM rue_mohr: di the wheels arrive yet?
10:35 PM zhanx: no its a federal holiday
10:35 PM rue_mohr: diy carrier board for the drivers? or?
10:35 PM zhanx: yes
10:36 PM zhanx: no i ordered an all in one to test
10:51 PM rue_mohr: zhanx, I changed that code to use a random value from 0 to 0.5 for the learning coeff, MORE often than not, it speeds up the learning
10:51 PM zhanx: why
10:52 PM rue_mohr: you know the kids game where all the peices pop up if you dont get them all fit in time?
10:53 PM zhanx: yep
10:53 PM rue_mohr: yea, thats how I'm targeting doing the training
10:53 PM zhanx: odd but ok
10:53 PM rue_mohr: instead of carefull calculaions, everything is just 'agitated' into the values it needs to be in
10:53 PM zhanx: k
10:53 PM furrywolf: I've never heard of such a game.
10:53 PM furrywolf: heh
10:54 PM rue_mohr: 'perfection;
10:54 PM rue_mohr: https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTjhgDxOmQEiubdQKew9F-CgxJge_3oyLq-qXVCETKBD3gyNbjYWg
10:55 PM rue_mohr: zhanx, what I want to know is if I can use it for training hidden layers
10:55 PM rue_mohr: but I also want to know if I can train a network by adjusting inactive nodes instead of active ones
10:56 PM rue_mohr: so, this code has some work ahead of it
10:56 PM furrywolf: never seen that game
10:56 PM rue_mohr: its 8:55 and it being pitch black outside is not helping
10:56 PM rue_mohr: furrywolf, rlly? ...
10:57 PM rue_mohr: zhanx, but a few tests now show that using random values for training coefficients, different on each pass, works well
10:57 PM furrywolf: doesn't seem like much of a game, either. lol
10:57 PM rue_mohr: furrywolf, how fast cold you put away those parts?
10:57 PM rue_mohr: :)
10:59 PM furrywolf: also, lol @ the amazon reviews... apparantly the current ones are utter shit chinese garbage, and come non-functional, missing pieces, with duplicates of pieces (and others missing, with the right total count), and general chinesism.
10:59 PM rue_mohr: huh
10:59 PM rue_mohr: didn't read it, just threw the picture
10:59 PM rue_mohr: busy writing a neural network
10:59 PM rue_mohr: :)
11:00 PM furrywolf: it's really sad that with the quite well demonstrated lack of quality from chinese producers, we keep having them make stuff.
11:01 PM rue_mohr: no its too late, we cant make our own stuff
11:01 PM rue_mohr: the place I just came back from has farms
11:01 PM rue_mohr: they have to bring in mexican workers to pick the crops
11:01 PM rue_mohr: cause nobody it canada wants/will do the work
11:01 PM rue_mohr: the farms tried
11:02 PM furrywolf: about half the amazon reviews (a hundred or so) are complaining it's defective or arrived with a non-correct set of pieces.
11:02 PM furrywolf: yay china!
11:04 PM furrywolf: also, a lot of the 5-star reviews are actually complaints, too... and the others are people who haven't used it much or at all. lol
11:05 PM furrywolf: "This game was broken when I received it" should not have 5 stars next to it. lol
11:06 PM furrywolf: the number of complaints about receiving duplicates of some pieces with others missing is... impressive.
11:06 PM furrywolf: only china could fuck up so badly and so repeatedly.
11:07 PM rue_mohr: they do high volume
11:12 PM furrywolf: "Hasbro is committed to being an ethical and responsible company and is a recognized toy industry leader in the areas of product safety, environmental sustainability, ethical sourcing and philanthropy. " and then there's 22 pages of negative reviews. lol
11:12 PM rue_mohr: what managemnt says and what managment will pay for are two different things
11:32 PM ffurrywol is now known as furrywolf
11:37 PM furrywolf: bbl, wolfy bedtime
11:37 PM rue_mohr: gnight
