06:02 PM zhanx: ok i give on this printer, the arduino let the smoke out again
06:20 PM Tom_L: if you didn't have bad luck you wouldn't have any
06:20 PM Tom_L: why did it smoke this time?
06:28 PM zhanx: not a clue
06:29 PM zhanx: it was working before, i wanted to get the bed closer to level, turned it on and smoke.
06:43 PM Tom_L: that sucks
06:43 PM Tom_L: i hate when something happens and i don't know why
09:00 PM useless: have been on phone to centurylink for 3 HOURS
09:01 PM useless: i sent an email to amazon.com about a email phishing for acct info, and centurylink locked my account
09:02 PM useless: but they had not blocked the actual phishing email
09:02 PM useless is now known as useless-afk
09:05 PM useless-afk is now known as useless
09:33 PM furrywolf: huh? why would you emailing someone get your account locked?
09:34 PM useless: the spam software read the spam-email headers i pasted to the email body to amazon, decided i was spaming amazon, and forbade it
09:35 PM furrywolf: that seems... unacceptable.
09:35 PM useless: hence the 3 hrs on phone
09:35 PM furrywolf: they should not be looking at the content of your emails.
09:35 PM useless: spam filters all do
09:36 PM furrywolf: your _outgoing_ email, without your permission?
09:36 PM furrywolf: and taking actions based on it?
09:36 PM useless: apparently
09:38 PM furrywolf: a good argument for PGP. heh.
09:39 PM useless: or any otehr ssl from sender to reciever
09:40 PM furrywolf: brb, want to get a quick project done before it's dark
09:51 PM rue_: zhanx_, you didn't miss the connector again did you?
09:52 PM rue_: zhanx_, I'd love to have done a walk-check with you before you put it all togethor
09:52 PM rue_: I dont know if you replaced all the mtoro drivers, one of them will have a short between 5 and 12
09:53 PM rue_: if you neter beteen 5 and 12 you will prolyl find its low ohms
09:54 PM furrywolf: back. just a quick project. I was fixing a jumper cable clamp this morning with a melted spring... got a spring from another clamp, but couldn't find a good screw to put it back together with, so picked one up while working today.
09:55 PM furrywolf: why don't jumper cable clamps ever have a bond wire between the two halves, so the spring doesn't become a current-carrying component? bleh.
09:55 PM useless: furry, for high current (arc welding, 12v battery clamps, etc), i wire up both sides of the clamp so the spring canot carry any current
09:56 PM furrywolf: as do I. but jumper cables never, ever come like that.
09:56 PM * useless nods
09:56 PM useless: or arc welding ground clamps
09:57 PM furrywolf: occasionally welding clamps do
09:57 PM furrywolf: I think the ones I saw at tractor supply had a bond wire
09:58 PM useless: the last "400amp" gnd clamp i bought was in bad condition, design-wise, i completely rewired it before use
09:58 PM rue_: mine does
09:58 PM rue_: so the spring cant take any current
09:59 PM * useless nods
09:59 PM rue_: so today
09:59 PM rue_: the 0R smt resistors arrived
09:59 PM rue_: and the Rf mixing transformers
09:59 PM rue_: and the NE612
09:59 PM furrywolf: the spring on these jumper cables quite melted... I tried being it back wider once I had it out, and it crumbled in my hands.
09:59 PM rue_: and the 74HC393
09:59 PM useless: i have seen woven flat bonds before, in the rod clamp, but they were badly terminated anyhow
10:01 PM furrywolf: I had some clamps off an old Sun battery tester once... they were very nice. too bad they got stolen.
10:01 PM furrywolf: yes, someone fucking stole my jumper cables out of my truck. they weren't even usable by most people - they had an anderson plug on one end.
10:01 PM furrywolf: probably scrapped them and got another hit of meth.
10:02 PM * useless nods
10:05 PM furrywolf: "they don't make 'em like they used to" is very true, sadly.
10:06 PM furrywolf: it took me four tries to get actual solid copper clamps to put on my 12v chainsaw.
10:06 PM furrywolf: bought supposedly copper ones from the local battery dealer... plated steel. bought solid copper clamps on ebay.... plated steel. bought another set of solid copper clamps on ebay, even said solid copper on the packaging... plated steel. finally bought some genuine muellers.
10:07 PM furrywolf: china, as always, is perfectly happy to make counterfeit products.
10:07 PM rue_: I hope you got some moeny back
10:07 PM rue_: gee, yaknow, I dont knwo what my welder ground clamp is
10:07 PM furrywolf: full refunds... but the sellers didn't stop selling them.
10:08 PM rue_: well, most people buying them dont know or care what "solid copper" is, or means.
10:08 PM furrywolf: the muellers may be much more expensive, but they're actually what they say they are, and are overall much higher quality.
10:09 PM furrywolf: also, being solid copper, it was very easy to solder the wire as well as crimp it...
10:10 PM furrywolf: I don't trust any crimp I have to make with pliers rather than a proper crimping tool.
10:10 PM useless: my clamps are plain steel, but have brass where the clamp meets the work, and i ran copper to each brass
10:11 PM useless: that's aomething else you can do: mod a industrial split bolt or other connector, or stuff the wire in a copper pipe, mash it, and solder it solid
10:15 PM * furrywolf wishes manufacturers actually cared about producing quality products
10:16 PM furrywolf: everything these days is about how cheap it can be made, not how well.
10:16 PM rue_: try to find a copper weller soldering gun!
10:17 PM useless: steel clamp, mount splitbolt thru the business ends, stuff wire in, tighten down
10:17 PM * useless has one of the olde transffore type weller guns,,,,,, somewhere
10:17 PM rue_: hey wait
10:17 PM rue_: you mean you have one of the inverter guns now???
10:18 PM furrywolf: heh, I use a propane torch for soldering big clamps.
10:18 PM useless: no, transformer, with the coiled plate core
10:18 PM furrywolf: I do have a 350W weller somewhere, but the torch is a lot more watts...
10:18 PM useless: furry, ditto,, oxy-propane even
10:19 PM furrywolf: I haven't tried soldering with my oxy-propane hand torch...
10:20 PM rue_: ok, was it just in the other universe or WAS there an inverter soldering gun made by someone for a while?
10:21 PM useless: invertor spot welders , not soldering gun, afaik
10:21 PM furrywolf: I've never seen one, if you mean a pistol grip gun with a little switcher in it.
10:21 PM rue_: ARG, it was only int eh other universe,
10:21 PM rue_: the other universe also had knife pens with swivel tips!
10:22 PM useless: loosen the barrel of the exacto, it will swivel too, dangerously
10:22 PM furrywolf: drag knives are a thing.
10:22 PM rue_: no, no I'm talking nice swivel
10:22 PM rue_: I tred to find one for ma, I had to make one
10:22 PM rue_: they DONT exist
10:23 PM rue_: but they did in the other universe
10:23 PM rue_: my art teacher had one
10:23 PM furrywolf: they exist plentifully, for things like plotters.
10:23 PM furrywolf: vinyl cutters
10:23 PM rue_: he was really excited when he got it and told everyone
10:23 PM furrywolf: etc
10:23 PM rue_: I know, I'm talking a penknife that uses that tip!!!!
10:23 PM rue_: and I had to make one!
10:23 PM rue_: anyhow
10:24 PM rue_: it also had inverter soldering guns
10:24 PM rue_: lighter, more power, longer duty
10:24 PM rue_: I was in a better universe
10:24 PM rue_: dimention, whatever
10:24 PM useless: have you seen the invertor psu for microwaves? praps you can hack one
10:25 PM rue_: not my point, they dont exist here
10:25 PM rue_: and I probably will, and I ahve a inverter microwave core set aside
10:25 PM useless: becasue yu have not hacked one into existance yet
10:25 PM rue_: its just frustrating is all
10:25 PM furrywolf: https://www.jerrysartarama.com/x-acto-specialty-knives-and-replacement-blades
10:26 PM rue_: its that same frustration when your trying to talk to someone who should know exactly what your talking about and is clueless
10:26 PM furrywolf: Craft Swivel Knife – This innovative knife is perfect for cutting around curves or for small, intricate details! With a unique, light duty steel blade that rotates a full 360°, you can get precise cuts around virtually any shape in paper, cardstock, film, stencils, decals, and more. No crafter or scrapbook artist should be without this versatile knife! Uses X-Acto Craft Swivel replacement blades.
10:26 PM rue_: furrywolf, did I move back to another universe?
10:27 PM useless: a few times
10:27 PM rue_: but, I can only buy the blade?
10:27 PM useless: no, you can USE it too!
10:28 PM useless: not only buy it
10:28 PM rue_: ok, it did NOT exist when i was looking for it beofre
10:29 PM Tom_L: my debur tool is like that
10:29 PM rue_: furrywolf, https://www.amazon.com/X-ACTO-X3253-Designer-Craft-Swivel/dp/B001KZH27I
10:29 PM rue_: ;)
10:30 PM Tom_L: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1pc-NB1100-Burr-Handle-With-10-Blades-With-BS1010-Deburring-Tool-New-/112440231293
10:30 PM Tom_L: similar, different use
10:30 PM rue_: I know the deburring tool
10:30 PM Tom_L: 3 style blades
10:30 PM Tom_L: right left and center
10:31 PM furrywolf: http://www.hobbycosf.com/xcrswkn.html
10:31 PM furrywolf: a lot of places seem to be out of stock on them... you might want to email before ordering wherever you do find it.
10:32 PM furrywolf: I get the feeling it has recently been discontinued.
10:32 PM useless: of course
10:33 PM furrywolf: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Excel-K4-Aluminum-Swivel-Knife-Handle-Blade-Safety-Cap-Made-in-USA/362330902709 there's another brand that makes similar knives. probably better quality. xacto has never impressed me much...
10:34 PM furrywolf: https://www.amazon.com/Excel-Blades-Swivel-Rotating-American/dp/B0006O5JF6
10:34 PM rue_: https://www.amazon.ca/Fiskars-126050-1001-Craft-Swivel-Knife/dp/B000EBA0AA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1536290996
10:34 PM rue_: does that link work?
10:34 PM rue_: May not ship to Canada - Read item description or contact seller for shipping options. | See details
10:34 PM rue_: I hate ebay
10:34 PM Tom_L: works
10:35 PM rue_: what works?
10:35 PM rue_: oh the link, ok
10:35 PM furrywolf: https://www.amazon.com/Fiskars-126050-1002-Swivel-Detail-Knife/dp/B000EBA0AA/ref=pd_sim_201_2 looks like even fiskars makes a similar product
10:35 PM furrywolf: so... there's at least three brands of what you're looking for. :)
10:35 PM rue_: ok:) now try to find an inverter soldering gun!
10:35 PM rue_: I wonder if I can use stuff like this to map what universe I'm in
10:36 PM rue_: other question like, "what did darth vader say to luke"
10:36 PM * useless suggests rosemary and sage bread crumbs to leave trails
10:37 PM furrywolf: I don't know if an inverter supply would be practical for a soldering iron that uses typical solid copper tips... they're running a few hundred amps at a few tenths of a volt... exactly where power semiconductors suck.
10:38 PM rue_: awe damnit, only enough milk for breakfast tommorow, cant ahve anymore tea
10:38 PM furrywolf: I guess you could save a little weight by using a same-ratio transformer just at a higher frequency, and hope you don't get skin effect issues in the tip.
10:38 PM useless: run ac to the tip, and iirc my weller puts 2.5v across ~4 inches of 10awg
10:38 PM rue_: yea, but at 40Khz
10:39 PM Tom_L: the old pistol grip irons?
10:39 PM rue_: 300W PSU core
10:39 PM rue_: yup
10:39 PM rue_: nothe huge stupid clumbsy ones
10:39 PM Tom_L: what's wrong with yours
10:39 PM rue_: the sleek ones
10:39 PM Tom_L: mine is old
10:39 PM rue_: its heavy and the eff goes to hell when it gets hot
10:39 PM useless: you can prolly cram 300w into the ame of the olde guns, but 500w wold be a challenge,, cooling may be a problem too
10:40 PM rue_: 1 min on and 10 mins off???? no.
10:40 PM furrywolf: the wellers are pretty much indestructable... I have some reallly old ones, and the first thing that fails is the bakelite housing.
10:40 PM rue_: 150 is fine
10:40 PM rue_: whats mine, 100/150?
10:40 PM furrywolf: I've seen ones where the body is now a blob of electrical tape, and they still solder.
10:40 PM furrywolf: 100/140 is the standard two-click model
10:40 PM rue_: yea
10:40 PM Tom_L: probably what mine is
10:40 PM Tom_L: without looking...
10:40 PM rue_: I had to trnsplant one into a newer aluminum model housing
10:41 PM useless: 150w is ok? cool, buy a 150 12v convertor off ebay and put a single turn secondary on the core
10:41 PM rue_: I ahve parts set aside
10:41 PM * useless underlines her nick again
10:41 PM rue_: schematics for those high freq induction heaters are everywhere
10:42 PM useless: i'd like to have one of those induction heaters, but i dunno why
10:42 PM rue_: I was kinda thining about making it induction heated tip
10:42 PM furrywolf: lol
10:42 PM furrywolf: I have an induction hotplate. it rocks.
10:42 PM rue_: kat, a few IGBT's and your set
10:43 PM rue_: :/ I worked till 7pm today and now I ahve no play time :(
10:43 PM useless: heat steel before beating on it, can use a smaller hammer
10:43 PM furrywolf: I like the old wellers with two light bulbs.
10:43 PM rue_: the huge ones?? ugh too clumbsy for me
10:43 PM rue_: besides, I'v turned about a mile of 12awg wire into a lifetime supply of tips
10:44 PM Tom_L: someone i know (forgot who) had one of those huge weller pencil irons that weighed probably 5lbs
10:44 PM Tom_L: you could sweat tin with it
10:44 PM rue_: hah, 400W and could barely melt solder cause all the ehat went into the handle?
10:45 PM useless: 1/2 inch rod about 8" with big copper 4-sided taper tip? wooden handle? got one
10:45 PM furrywolf: I used to think wire tips were a good idea... but I realized pretty quickly that actual tips work much, much better.
10:45 PM furrywolf: now I only use real tips.
10:45 PM rue_: kat, they didn't officially COME with the wooden handle did they?
10:45 PM useless: my weller W60 tips are iron-something , no copepr in them
10:46 PM useless: rue, it has an oem handle, afaik
10:46 PM rue_: yea, I use a steel tip on my electronics pen
10:46 PM rue_: the steel dosn't get eaten by the flux
10:46 PM rue_: but it conducts heat like ****, so only the verry tip is steel
10:47 PM furrywolf: I like lots of power when soldering... I use a 140W weller anywhere it will fit. heh.
10:47 PM furrywolf: I did all my motherboard recapping with a weller gun. :)
10:47 PM rue_: that takes care
10:47 PM rue_: why did I get 0R 0805 resistors????
10:47 PM furrywolf: contrary to what some people seem to think, more power = LESS board damage.
10:48 PM rue_: if your fast
10:48 PM furrywolf: you can get the heat into the part faster, so it travels less.
10:48 PM furrywolf: yes
10:48 PM Tom_L: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFXueyluf2Q
10:48 PM furrywolf: using an undersized gun and sitting there roasting the board for thirty seconds waiting for the joint to heat up....
10:48 PM Tom_L: smt with that!
10:49 PM * furrywolf isn't in the mood to deal with youtube
10:49 PM furrywolf: too late
10:50 PM rue_: oof, its a 550W stick iron
10:50 PM rue_: with a really nicely cut tip
10:53 PM Tom_L: i don't remember now what they used when leading car bodies
10:53 PM Tom_L: that's a lost art
10:54 PM rue_: haha I updated my browser and now I ahve no audio
10:54 PM Tom_L: this pc doesn't either
10:55 PM furrywolf: rosebud, I think.
10:55 PM zhanx_ is now known as zhanx
10:55 PM Tom_L: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87fuTnBS2bE
10:56 PM zhanx: nickserv lag sucks
10:57 PM useless: [10:58:pm] [NickServ PING reply]: 1sec
10:57 PM zhanx: then it must be me
10:58 PM zhanx: rue_, no data for you
10:58 PM zhanx: fedex reported all the packages delivered for the job today. nothing on site and store had no record of fedex dropping off new printers
10:59 PM * furrywolf curls up next to kat
10:59 PM rue_: zhanx, what do you want to do witht eh prnter, get another set and assemble it with me?
10:59 PM rue_: zhanx, they dropped it off at someone elses
11:00 PM furrywolf: does it say a normal time, or abnormally late? (like 8pm)
11:00 PM zhanx: rue_, I am going to order a new set of electronics and ups for it
11:00 PM * useless leans over a lil bit
11:00 PM zhanx: furrywolf, normal time
11:01 PM rue_: zhanx, wait for me to help put it togethro with testing ok?
11:01 PM furrywolf: yeah, probably misdelivered, then.
11:01 PM furrywolf: "delivering" everything at 8pm and heading home because you've been working 12 hours and are exhausted also happens, but then it's scanned late.
11:01 PM zhanx: ok rue_
11:02 PM zhanx: furrywolf, twice in a row?
11:02 PM rue_: first, fnd wtf is shorting the 5V and 12V rails!
11:02 PM zhanx: that is the issue, I took all the wiring part to test it
11:03 PM rue_: its one of the baords
11:03 PM useless: is 12 being pulled down or is 5 being pulled up?
11:03 PM rue_: a driver of the ramps or the arduino
11:03 PM rue_: and their pushing 12V into your 5V line and maybe back into your usb
11:03 PM zhanx: i even tape off the bottom of the board
11:04 PM zhanx: taped,
11:04 PM useless: diode will fix that
11:04 PM zhanx: kat 12v is being pushed to the 5v somewhere
11:04 PM rue_: its probably a failed driver
11:04 PM zhanx: they were all new
11:04 PM rue_: meter betweent eh 5V and the 12V of all the driver boards
11:04 PM rue_: whiel unplugged
11:04 PM rue_: like off the ramps
11:04 PM zhanx: k
11:05 PM furrywolf: my stepper drives have optoisolated inputs... just so things like this are not things. heh.
11:05 PM rue_: he put the adapter board in offset by a pin
11:05 PM zhanx: yea i am thinking of moving to an optoisolated board due to this
11:05 PM rue_: whatever blew is still in the system pushing the 12V to the 5V rail
11:06 PM furrywolf: oh, this is the board you blew multiple parts on?
11:06 PM zhanx: which i placed
11:06 PM zhanx: replaced
11:06 PM furrywolf: suspect everything silicon on every board is toast until proved otherwise.
11:06 PM rue_: yo dont need an opto isolated baord, you need to find out whats shorting and test everything before applyingpower
11:06 PM useless: with no driver bds attached, it it all ok?
11:06 PM rue_: furrywolf, its a 2560 arduino with a ramps 1.4 board and 4 stepper drivers
11:06 PM zhanx: i don't know its on the top shelf so i dont step on it
11:07 PM furrywolf: I know nothing about what's on arduino boards.
11:07 PM rue_: he offset the ramps board by a pin and it pushed 12V intot eh 5V bus, and whatever semi shorted betwee them is still there
11:07 PM furrywolf: all my cnc stuff is linuxcnc based...
11:07 PM rue_: I'd have told him NOT to apply power till we did some testing,
11:07 PM rue_: furrywolf, parallel port?
11:08 PM rue_: arg, I'm just frustrated now
11:08 PM furrywolf: currently parallel port, but I have Mesa boards for both my machines waiting to be installed, with ethernet interfaces.
11:09 PM useless: i cannot think of anything someone should put between 5v and 12v on a psu board,, unless they used a dual opamp to monitor both lines, or soemthing like that that they didn;t need to do
11:09 PM rue_: its probably one of the stepper driver baords
11:09 PM rue_: which are all fried now
11:09 PM rue_: as well as the atmega
11:09 PM furrywolf: I can think of lots of things... most notably, as someone said, the stepper drives, which have 12v for the motor power, but the control lines are 5v or 3.3v.
11:09 PM useless: so unplug them all, and power up the psu, see what happens
11:10 PM rue_: he put it on the shelf, he'd donw tih it for now
11:10 PM useless: furry, but those are not on the psu board
11:10 PM rue_: there is no psu board,
11:10 PM rue_: there is a arduino, a adapter board, and 4d stepper drivers
11:10 PM useless: oh,,, <underlines nick AGAIN>
11:10 PM rue_: the ramps (adpater board) and the stepper drivers are the only things wwith 5 and 12V on them
11:11 PM rue_: zhanx, wait for me to walk thru it with you when you get ($$$ ARG) ANOTHER completel set of replacement parts
11:12 PM rue_: new arduino 2560, new stepper driers, and new ramps board
11:12 PM rue_: please?
11:12 PM useless: he gone
11:12 PM rue_: arrrrg
11:12 PM furrywolf: that is one way to make sure it works. :P
11:13 PM rue_: he's gonna do soemthing silly and blow up antoher set and give up
11:13 PM rue_: :(((((
11:18 PM furrywolf: on a completely different topic, LOL. I googled something that came up on my random playlist today that I didn't recognize, and one of the first results was a live performance of it... with the lead singer wearing a strapon on stage.
11:19 PM furrywolf: I'm not a big genitorturers fan, but any woman willing to sing to a full house with a strapon bouncing around has my respect. lol
11:21 PM rue_: huh
11:22 PM furrywolf: huh to which part?
11:23 PM useless: you blew him mind, ad a sound came out
11:23 PM useless: sleeping pills are kicking in on me
11:24 PM * furrywolf tucks kat in
11:24 PM furrywolf: almost bedtime for me too
11:27 PM rue_: so, MOON brought be a 100LB full propane tank today
11:28 PM useless: to do what with ?
11:28 PM rue_: kat, check out NE612, tell me what you think
11:28 PM rue_: he says to have
11:28 PM rue_: a fellow was getting rid of it
11:28 PM rue_: !?!?! ok
11:28 PM rue_: apparently just vented the other one off !?!?!
11:28 PM rue_: some people are really strange kat
11:29 PM rue_: so I ruin your concept of me if I post a pic of me?
11:29 PM rue_: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/images/profile.jpg
11:30 PM rue_: opening it is up to you
11:30 PM rue_: so yesterday I started some willow cuttings
11:31 PM rue_: I really hope I can get them to take
11:31 PM furrywolf: is that galvanized you're welding? :P
11:31 PM useless: they needlots of water and spread like weeds, iirc?
11:31 PM rue_: yea dont breathe
11:31 PM * furrywolf expected a dragonthing commission
11:32 PM rue_: that is DONT BREATHE
11:32 PM rue_: if there isn't a wind, I have a fan
11:32 PM useless: i'd be grinding most of that zinc off first, it doesn;t help the weld at all, zinc is soft-weak stuff
11:32 PM rue_: I thin it all burns away
11:32 PM rue_: the large white cloud makes me think this
11:33 PM useless: i think i have a tshirt just like that
11:33 PM rue_: not quite, I have a wrench painted on it
11:33 PM rue_: as its one of my destroyed shirts
11:33 PM useless: oh
11:34 PM rue_: I painted wrenches on them all, so that if I go out shopping in them, there is some kinda indicator its a work/play shirt
11:34 PM rue_: and my pants
11:34 PM rue_: also helps sorting laundry
11:35 PM * furrywolf doesn't bother sorting laundry
11:35 PM rue_: I have to keep the nice stuff for work seperate from the destroyed stuff for play
11:35 PM rue_: I have an intermediate ok-for-public catagory
11:36 PM furrywolf: I don't destroy much anymore... not since my back got destroyed.
11:36 PM rue_: anyhow, I dont do profile pics often, so, there.
11:36 PM rue_: I hope I havn't shattered your mental image of me
11:36 PM useless: and the underwear, and summer-winter, and upperbody lowerbody, keeping gloves and socks separate, it's work!
11:38 PM rue_: oh, the 0R are for DACs they completel the jumper pattern
11:38 PM rue_: the NE612 are for my 1Mhz-10Mhz oscillator
11:39 PM rue_: the plan is to take an 80Mhz crstal and mix it with a 81-90Mhz vco
11:40 PM rue_: filter it all at 35Mhz for a nice clean signal
11:40 PM rue_: the si5351 is working tho
11:40 PM useless: sounds nice
11:40 PM rue_: I have to build the board with all the 7490 rang dividers
11:41 PM rue_: did you see the 7490 sips I made?
11:42 PM useless: no
11:46 PM rue_: well, I cant find any pics of them
11:46 PM rue_: try to give me a min
11:46 PM useless: it's not mission critical, rue
11:49 PM * furrywolf curls up on kat for bedtime
11:49 PM rue_: posting...
11:50 PM * useless adjusts
11:51 PM rue_: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/projects/siggen/p1100666.jpg
11:51 PM rue_: 7 dividers for 10Mhz 0.1Mhz
11:51 PM rue_: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/projects/siggen/p1100668.jpg
11:51 PM rue_: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/projects/siggen/p1100671.jpg
11:51 PM rue_: each litle guy is /10
11:52 PM useless: why? to save pcb space?
11:52 PM rue_: yes
11:52 PM rue_: thos are funny chips, just the paint dots
11:52 PM useless: wait, you use only 4 pins?
11:53 PM rue_: vcc, gnd, in, and out
11:53 PM rue_: output is 50% duty, /10
11:53 PM rue_: tidy eh?
11:53 PM rue_: I do these things with memories of people scorning you at work for such ideas
11:53 PM useless: very tidy
11:54 PM rue_: :)
11:54 PM rue_: I hoped youd like it
11:54 PM useless: you some how selecting how many /10 in the chain?
11:54 PM rue_: the 90 is /5 & /2
11:54 PM useless: and, why /10 , instead of 7463 /16 ?
11:54 PM useless: err 74163
11:54 PM useless: or 162
11:55 PM rue_: because I want to bring the freq down in decades
11:55 PM useless: etc
11:55 PM useless: k
11:55 PM rue_: right off the osc is 1Mhz to 10Mhz
11:55 PM rue_: then next down is 100Khz - 1Mhz
11:55 PM rue_: etc
11:55 PM useless: yeas, easy math
11:55 PM rue_: my HPs are like that
11:56 PM rue_: but they only go up to 1Mhz, and its pretty ugly
11:56 PM useless: use 74F
11:56 PM rue_: BUT they do square/triangle/sine at just about any voltage
11:56 PM useless: most 74F rus up to 100 Mhz
11:56 PM rue_: I'm just using square/ttl
11:57 PM rue_: even unclassed 7490 are good for like 50Mhz??
11:57 PM rue_: I have to guess the 7090 was designed as a high freq divider?
11:57 PM rue_: 7490
11:57 PM rue_: its got that alient pinout
11:57 PM rue_: alian
11:57 PM rue_: alien
11:57 PM useless: yea,, but in 1975, 2Mhz was high frequency
11:58 PM rue_: I think its a direct discendant of the 5490
11:58 PM rue_: 54?
11:58 PM useless: 74Ls at 30 Mhz blew everything else outa the water, for a few years
11:58 PM rue_: the 'other class'
11:58 PM useless: 54 is military temperature range
11:58 PM rue_: I cant actaully find 74xx90
11:58 PM rue_: oh
11:58 PM rue_: oooh
