12:07 AM rue_shop4: I just threw that ballscrew in the lathe, yea, its got 0.12mm endplay in it
03:21 PM Tom_L: rue_shop4, did you wade thru the 400 + pages yet?
03:53 PM rue_: it turned into borring repeditive tstuff and I worked on my freq gen
03:54 PM rue_: made good progress too
04:02 PM Tom_L: wonder if you could swap the balls out for just oversize ones and tighten up the endplay
04:02 PM Tom_L: i didn't notice any in mine
04:27 PM rue_shop4: can you measure any backlash?
08:36 PM Tom_L: i really haven't tried because the parts show no sign of it
08:36 PM Tom_L: a circle is round to +- .0001"
08:36 PM Tom_L: and i have not backlash compensation programmed in the setup
08:37 PM Tom_L: if there was any, it would show up in the part dimensions
08:38 PM Tom_L: helluv alot better than the sherline
08:40 PM Tom_L: yeah, just checked the config... the backlash is set to 0.00 on all axis
08:41 PM Tom_L: sherline was .0037, .0104, .0024 which was alot for the Y axis
08:42 PM furrywolf: my sherline is really sloppy on every axis
08:42 PM Tom_L: hard to cut anything to any accuracy on it
08:43 PM Tom_L: i did the plates for the new mill on it and they came out ok
08:43 PM rue_shop4: furrywolf, you can tighten up the gibs to a point
08:43 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/Mill_Steel/Y_Axis_Plate1.jpg
08:43 PM Tom_L: mostly just holes
08:44 PM Tom_L: but i had to rotate them to do half one side half the other
08:44 PM Tom_L: there's a little mis'alignment there but i made it work
08:44 PM furrywolf: there's apparantly new-style anti-backlash nuts that would improve mine
08:45 PM Tom_L: they sell ballscrew kits for it too but i wouldn't waste my money on them
08:45 PM Tom_L: it's still too lightweight for me
08:46 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/Mill_Steel/Z_Axis_Plate1.jpg
08:46 PM Tom_L: i think i was able to fit the Z axis plate without rotating it
08:47 PM Tom_L: X Y took a little more thought
08:47 PM Tom_L: i could remake them now that it's working and probably get them spot on but it's hardly worth the effort
08:49 PM Tom_L: rue, you can see what the end of the screws look like here: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/Mill_Steel/Z_Axis_Pulley.jpg
08:50 PM Tom_L: threaded with 10mm bearing surface
09:12 PM rue_shop4: ah yes
09:12 PM rue_shop4: myford?
09:23 PM Tom_L: hi kat
09:23 PM fckng_stupid: hi Tom
09:23 PM Tom_L: you should fix your nick
09:23 PM Tom_L: it's not accurate
09:24 PM fckng_stupid: it's appropriate, as rue 100% disregarded the irc help i gave , and furry disparaged me and my help
09:24 PM Tom_L: i've offered lots of rejected suggestions along the way... it's just how it is
09:26 PM Tom_L: doesn't change my thinking ability
09:26 PM fckng_stupid: it huts mine down
09:26 PM fckng_stupid: Shuts
09:49 PM fckng_stupid: 8167 in solitaire, 92 sec
09:50 PM fckng_stupid: gnite, Tom
10:44 PM furrywolf: meh. anyone seen kat today?
11:00 PM Tom_L: just left a bit ago
11:02 PM furrywolf: ah, good. I was worried I made her leave for yelling at her for flooding.
11:02 PM * furrywolf forgets she's easier to hurt than most
11:02 PM Tom_L: furry disparaged me
11:03 PM Tom_L: damn you
11:03 PM Tom_L: !
11:03 PM Tom_L: :)
11:04 PM furrywolf: https://www.wholesalesolar.com/3611170/morningstar-corporation/charge-controller-accessories/morningstar-corporation-gfpd-150v-tristar-ground-fault-protection-device-for-150v-controllers who wants to buy me two of those? looks like they're what I actually need, and the two $100 breakers I already got won't work... sigh.
11:14 PM furrywolf: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyx8gh-tUOM that's some pretty impressive failing
11:14 PM furrywolf: it just keeps arcing
11:24 PM furrywolf: it says it on a web page, so it must be true!
11:24 PM furrywolf: grr,wrong window
