12:01 AM rue_mohr: oh wait, Ic an upgarde it without it removing Xwindows
12:05 AM ^kat^: i did a google captcha today
12:05 AM ^kat^: 32bit win and 32bit browser, tho i spoofed as many headers as i could
12:05 AM rue_mohr: not on my linux system tho
12:05 AM rue_mohr: I think all my problems would go away if I told sites I was a mobile phone
12:05 AM * ^kat^ is currenly spoofed as win7 and WOW64 and FF v49.0
12:05 AM rue_mohr: how ya do that?
12:08 AM rue_mohr: _my_ broswer is not accepted by them
12:08 AM rue_mohr: iceweasel 10.0.5
12:08 AM ^kat^: my condolences
12:08 AM ^kat^: use a different browser just for them?
12:09 AM zhanx: how about just git clone it?
12:14 AM rue_mohr: I could, is it a iceweasel plugin?
12:15 AM rue_mohr: ok, there was an upgarde for chromium and iceweasel, this could be good
12:16 AM rue_mohr: I wonder if that means chromium will stop locking up the video card
12:16 AM ^kat^: chromium browser that reports everything you do to google?
12:16 AM rue_mohr: yea, and is the onyl thing that wroks with google services, like : EVERYTHING
12:17 AM ^kat^: i am not bound to google
12:19 AM zhanx: rue_mohr, tomorrow i need to redo my x and y steps i am
12:19 AM zhanx: way off
12:21 AM rue_mohr: but you said you did the test square
12:22 AM rue_mohr: the distance from left-edge to left edge should be 10cm
12:22 AM rue_mohr: bang on the nose
12:22 AM zhanx: i have GT@ 2mm pitch belts with 16t pullys
12:22 AM rue_mohr: be carefull, the extrusion width vs the steps
12:22 AM zhanx: i got a digital caliber now
12:22 AM rue_mohr: I gave you the test square right?
12:22 AM zhanx: not a tape measure like before
12:23 AM rue_mohr: if your within half a mm over 10cm, your good
12:23 AM rue_mohr: make sure your measuring off the same edge so that extrustion thickness is not a factor
12:24 AM rue_mohr: your adjust temp and multiplier to change the extrusion width
12:24 AM zhanx: i am 1 mm out over 15 cm
12:24 AM ^kat^: if the extrusions have radiused edges, clamp a razor blade to git a sharp edge
12:25 AM rue_mohr: testsquare100-1.5-r1-s.stl?
12:25 AM zhanx: gonna reprint that
12:25 AM zhanx: something was changed
12:25 AM rue_mohr: please tell me you know what I mean about the same edge
12:26 AM zhanx: I printed a 42 mm cube for a fan and it came out 46mm
12:26 AM zhanx: i do
12:26 AM rue_mohr: ok
12:26 AM rue_mohr: I can help you witht eh calc to modify the steps/mm
12:26 AM zhanx: yep that is tomorrow
12:27 AM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/objects/testsquare100-1.5-r1-s.stl
12:30 AM zhanx: i have it
12:30 AM rue_mohr: ok, awe, I feel like I'm failing ya
12:30 AM zhanx: no i think i changed something
12:30 AM rue_mohr: I think I need to be more hands on to really help
12:30 AM zhanx: ok bed time
12:30 AM * ^kat^ averts her eyes
12:30 AM zhanx: i will google the math on the belts tomorrow
12:33 AM * ^kat^ heads to bed
12:45 AM rue_mohr: no
12:46 AM rue_mohr: zhanx, no just print the test square measure it BEFORE taking it off, and adjust the factor accordingly
12:46 AM rue_mohr: if your supposed to get 15mm and you get 16.5mm, then your out by 110%
12:47 AM rue_mohr: if your steps/mm is 236, with that error
12:47 AM rue_mohr: then you should be 259.6 steps/mm
12:47 AM rue_mohr: do that _3_ times
12:47 AM rue_mohr: and you will have it
12:48 AM rue_mohr: do not use blooming pulley raduis junk
12:49 AM rue_mohr: zhanx, dont print anything large for a while do small things that can screw up and not lose you much plastic
12:49 AM rue_mohr: till things are going right
12:50 AM rue_mohr: aka, dont try to print a printer yet
05:53 PM zhanx: !log
05:53 PM zhanx: !log this
05:54 PM zhanx: rue_mohr, I was at 44.44 and moved to 40 for both x and y, the 100 test came in at 99.72 square
07:20 PM rue_mohr: zhanx, so
07:20 PM rue_mohr: the right number is...
07:21 PM rue_mohr: 39.888
07:21 PM rue_mohr: I go the wrong way sometimes, well me if that makes it better or worse
07:22 PM zhanx: k
07:23 PM zhanx: i was thinking it needs to be bigger
07:23 PM rue_mohr: I have it in my head that larger step/mm makes things smaller and vise versa
07:24 PM zhanx: like 40.2 or something
07:24 PM zhanx: nope
07:24 PM rue_mohr: the *other* answer would be 40.112
07:24 PM zhanx: 44 made it larger
07:24 PM zhanx: k
07:24 PM rue_mohr: I cant think rightnow
08:10 PM Tom_L: can't seem to get motivated to finish this cam file
08:48 PM katsmeow: [08:45:pm] !emerson! Just a heads up, three batches of upgrades and rerouting happening in the next hour or so
08:49 PM katsmeow: hmm
08:50 PM katsmeow is now known as katsmeow-afk
09:06 PM zhanx: i printed up a filament guide to go on the top rail, its now feeding nicely
09:06 PM zhanx: rue_mohr, I think we got it
09:07 PM rue_mohr: top rail? should go right on the extruder
09:07 PM rue_mohr: how about that spool holder?
09:07 PM zhanx: spool holder is working nicely also
09:08 PM rue_mohr: ok
09:08 PM rue_mohr: so, you must need to print a new arduino holder?
09:08 PM zhanx: I change to a pyramid one so it directly over top.
09:08 PM zhanx: No, i am just gonna zip tie the arduino to the mount
09:09 PM zhanx: i might print a new one later
09:09 PM rue_mohr: one of the big things I did was to switch to gear-reduced XY
09:10 PM zhanx: finer print?
09:10 PM rue_mohr: I also switched to sliders that use ball bearing wheels (the slop in those linear bearsings can be horrific)
09:11 PM rue_mohr: 2:1 makes the load curve a closer match to the speed/torque curve of the mtors
09:11 PM zhanx: this will get upgrades
09:11 PM rue_mohr: those motors can run pretty damn fast with those drivers
09:11 PM zhanx: been printing 15 minutes now, no intervention from me and all motors are just over room temp but not hot
09:12 PM rue_mohr: I also switched the z rods to smaller dia thread, so it cant cause xy errors as it drives
09:12 PM rue_mohr: you might notice a 'wiggle' in the sides of the print thats the same pitch as the z rod
09:12 PM zhanx: k
09:13 PM zhanx: so far i am happy with it
09:13 PM rue_mohr: ok
09:13 PM zhanx: its printing a 14 piece birthday gift the wife wanted
09:13 PM rue_mohr: :)
09:13 PM zhanx: got to make her happy of course
09:14 PM zhanx: this is the 3rd thing i have printed for her
09:14 PM zhanx: and trust me she was against the printer
09:14 PM rue_mohr: I recall some of the last words for you to just go buy one
09:15 PM zhanx: yep
09:15 PM zhanx: which i am glad i never gave in
09:15 PM zhanx: I learned a ton
09:15 PM rue_mohr: my last rev printers are working awesome
09:17 PM zhanx: thats good
09:17 PM zhanx: and rue_mohr thanks for the help
09:17 PM rue_mohr: :/ I feel I could have helped ya hit the target a bit more solid the first shot
09:18 PM zhanx: i learned from the mistakes either way
09:18 PM zhanx: we both are busy
09:19 PM rue_mohr: oh wow,
09:19 PM rue_mohr: I got a Si5351 clock generator
09:19 PM rue_mohr: this pdf is THICK
09:19 PM rue_mohr: gonna take me a while to figure out
09:19 PM zhanx: fun
09:20 PM zhanx: so one of my buddies is designing a bass guitar, showed the design to my father in law, and his band
09:20 PM rue_mohr: :)
09:20 PM * furrywolf is single, so doesn't have to worry about that
09:20 PM zhanx: they want 2 for testing as soon as he can make and sell them
09:21 PM furrywolf: there's a distinct shortage of mature, intelligent, practical, sane women who like wolfies and are good with a strapon.
09:21 PM rue_mohr: hah, that sentence was all fine till the end
09:21 PM zhanx: that is wrong on so so many levels
09:22 PM zhanx: rue_mohr, what i am printing https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2722244
09:23 PM rue_mohr: oo neat
09:23 PM rue_mohr: oh its... big...
09:23 PM furrywolf: no pictures of it?
09:23 PM zhanx: i am scaling to 55% and its still large
09:23 PM zhanx: furrywolf, I am only on the second piece right now
09:24 PM furrywolf: I mean, on that page.
09:24 PM * furrywolf isn't going to figure out what to download just to open the file to see what it is
09:24 PM zhanx: the main image should show it
09:24 PM zhanx: https://cdn.thingiverse.com/renders/65/bf/0e/35/3d/3068e539ebfc4390d53e45d10fec8fb2_preview_featured.JPG
09:24 PM furrywolf: every image is two gears.
09:25 PM zhanx: that link work for you furrywolf ?
09:25 PM furrywolf: yes
09:25 PM furrywolf: it's not something I'd put in my house. :)
09:26 PM zhanx: its something for an 84 year old hunter
09:28 PM zhanx: the way the people are around here, i bet i get orders for some
09:32 PM zhanx: been awhile since i have seen a net split
10:32 PM rue_shop3: furrywolf, hah, your browser is too old, welcome to modern stupidity
10:36 PM zhanx: that seems to be a theme around here
10:36 PM rue_shop3: I dont think your appreciating it yet
10:37 PM zhanx: sadly we are also getting old
10:37 PM rue_shop3: god damn, in the middle of the whole datasheet is a "we aren't even going to tell you about these registers, just use our widnows-only software to calculate the values"
10:37 PM rue_shop3: zhanx, every year they up the browser recurrity requirements
10:40 PM zhanx: rue_shop3, you mean bloat
10:46 PM rue_shop3: no, they are bumping the encryption bits
10:47 PM rue_shop3: and wtf is with a borswer barking about redirects?
10:47 PM rue_shop3: I cant get my browser to just damn well follow them
10:47 PM rue_shop3: the SHUT_UP_AND_JUST_DO_IT option is not available
10:48 PM zhanx: i need to fix this hobbed bolt its a pita
10:49 PM zhanx: also my guide bearing needs a washer on it as it wobbles a bit
10:54 PM katsmeow-afk is now known as katsmeow
10:54 PM zhanx: wb katsmeow
10:54 PM katsmeow: tanks
10:59 PM * furrywolf curls up on katsmeow and yawns
11:00 PM * katsmeow looks around
11:07 PM * rue_shop3 plays with the new drillpress
11:48 PM * furrywolf can, but it's more work.
11:50 PM katsmeow: i am surprised you didn;t go for a diy mill, like Tom did
11:50 PM katsmeow: you can drill holes with a mill
11:50 PM katsmeow: and more accurately, and cnc'd'ly
11:52 PM furrywolf: https://store.snapon.com/TechAngle-174-Models-2-Accuracy--1-2-Drive-Flex-Head-TechAngle-Torque-Wrench-12-5-250-ft-lb--P889396.aspx me waannt.
11:53 PM katsmeow: doesn;t HF have one of those?
11:53 PM furrywolf: not as far as I know.
11:54 PM katsmeow: YIPES!! $610 !?!
11:54 PM furrywolf: google isn't finding one
11:54 PM furrywolf: that's pretty cheap for snap-on. :)
11:54 PM katsmeow: https://www.harborfreight.com/catalogsearch/result/index/?dir=asc&order=EAScore%2Cf%2CEAFeatured+Weight%2Cf%2CSale+Rank%2Cf&q=torque+wrench
11:55 PM zhanx: snap-on is pricey for a reason
11:55 PM katsmeow: because they can be
11:55 PM zhanx: name brand and warrenty
11:55 PM furrywolf: yes, you will note that none of those do the same thing as the snap-on one.
11:55 PM katsmeow: ok
11:55 PM furrywolf: the snap-on one measures both torque and _angle_.
11:56 PM furrywolf: and it does it with accelerometers and integrating the angular acceleration, I believe.
11:57 PM katsmeow: why do you care about the angle?
11:57 PM furrywolf: most modern automotive head bolts are set by tightening them to a specific torque, and then an angle past that torque
11:58 PM katsmeow: oh, different angle, ok
