12:01 AM katsmeow: midnite <click> brains shut off
01:22 AM zhanx: rue_mohr: still up?
01:33 AM rue_mohr: yea, gas
01:33 AM rue_mohr: stomach dosn't like anything I feed it
01:33 AM zhanx: k
01:34 AM zhanx: I got a beaglebone black, its not being used
01:34 AM zhanx: going to install octprint on it
01:34 AM zhanx: to control the printer
01:34 AM rue_mohr: k, maybe after we get things working?
01:34 AM zhanx: yes of course
01:35 AM zhanx: but it will free up a computer
01:35 AM zhanx: and use one that was laying around
01:35 AM rue_mohr: designing a new Y bearing system...
01:35 AM zhanx: k
01:35 AM rue_mohr: yep
01:35 AM zhanx: umm
01:35 AM zhanx: 5d printing
01:35 AM rue_mohr: heh
01:35 AM zhanx: ka no support printing
01:36 AM rue_mohr: ya
01:36 AM rue_mohr: slicer problem tho, no cam software exists
01:36 AM zhanx: think after the printer is all setup and my 3d scanner is done, i will go more into it
01:36 AM rue_mohr: :)
01:36 AM zhanx: yes it does
01:36 AM zhanx: but its $$
01:39 AM zhanx: is fire control built in on the firmware in case of failure?
01:41 AM rue_bed: the new versions have a 'STOP EVERYTHING AND SHUT DOWN I CANT CONTROL THE EXTRUDER TEMP ANYMORE"
01:42 AM rue_bed: I find it a bit annoying, because I set the idle temp of the nozzel to 60c, and if I shut the power off it freaks out
01:42 AM rue_bed: BUT
01:42 AM rue_bed: one of MY connectors tried to burn up once
01:42 AM rue_bed: you know the 0.1" headers ?
01:42 AM rue_bed: well keep it to 0.5A or less per pin!
01:42 AM rue_bed: 1A is apparently too much
01:42 AM zhanx: k
01:43 AM rue_bed: the fires you hear about are almost all related to bed heaters
01:43 AM rue_bed: like 300w on 12V
01:43 AM rue_bed: @!#$!$?>????
01:43 AM zhanx: k, i was checking
01:44 AM rue_bed: but yea, I recommend watching the printer close for the first week
01:44 AM rue_bed: and not going too far away for 2 weeks after that
01:44 AM zhanx: i am getting a webcam for it
01:45 AM rue_bed: watch it close for a week, things can come loose that you dont expect
01:45 AM zhanx: and a monitor system separate for it
01:45 AM rue_bed: and insane adjustments
01:45 AM rue_bed: after that, its just general checks for a while to make sure its generally behaving
01:46 AM rue_bed: I do the same with the cnc machines
01:46 AM zhanx: true
01:46 AM rue_bed: I find that just about anything that is going to fail does it in the first 2 weeks or so
01:46 AM zhanx: k
01:46 AM rue_bed: after that, things seem to be good for years
01:47 AM zhanx: with the webcam you will be able to see it in action also
01:47 AM rue_bed: time lapse is nice
01:47 AM rue_bed: I suspect that warping happens in the first 3 layers
01:47 AM zhanx: that is what i have read and seen
01:47 AM rue_bed: I dont know if time is a factor, if I lapsed a bad print, I think I'd know
01:48 AM rue_bed: there are some things that are just evil to print
09:41 PM zhanx: rue_mohr: how long do you think one of these will last? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/dikale-1-75mm-ABS-PLA-DIY-Smart-3D-Pen-3D-Printer-Pen-Drawing-Pen-Nice-Gift/32857958514.html

09:49 PM zhanx: so not a toy to mess with
10:20 PM zhanx: rue_shop4: busy?
10:22 PM zhanx: i was wondering if you have tried pausing prints to add wiring to them for circuits
10:46 PM rue_shop4: no I did thread tho
10:47 PM rue_shop4: nozzel seepage is an issue, the restart is short material
10:47 PM Tom_L: good evening katsmeow

10:56 PM zhanx: i am thinking of buy one set of 10
10:56 PM rue_shop4: oh damn, its ebay, screw that
10:57 PM katsmeow: whatever it is, seems tobe ancient
10:57 PM Tom_L: LM2596
10:58 PM katsmeow: it's a hex invertor, rue
10:58 PM rue_shop4: katsmeow, yea, a bunch of the family from an elevator control board
10:58 PM Tom_L: oh nm.. that was to rue's post
10:58 PM rue_shop4: katsmeow, did tigger know?
10:58 PM rue_shop4: what family is it?
10:58 PM rue_shop4: htl?
10:58 PM katsmeow: dtl
10:58 PM katsmeow: prolly not made since the 1950's
10:59 PM rue_shop4: oh wow
10:59 PM rue_shop4: these chips are dated 81, thats the amazing part
10:59 PM rue_shop4: 81-26
10:59 PM katsmeow: 1881 , maybe
10:59 PM rue_shop4: hah :)
11:00 PM rue_shop4: does she know MC862?
11:00 PM Tom_L: rue_shop4, what's your beef with ebay?
11:00 PM rue_shop4: this board has 862 846 832 836
11:01 PM katsmeow: there's no date on the datasheet, but these predate 74 series parts
11:01 PM zhanx: ok now i know that is old
11:01 PM rue_shop4: Tom_L, not getting product, them not processing orders properly and telling me to have paypal deal with it, them removing listings before I'v recieved them, them not telling me exactly when my purchase protection ends, ...
11:01 PM katsmeow: 862 is a triple 3-input nand
11:02 PM zhanx: rue_shop4: want me to order a set and send them to you?
11:02 PM Tom_L: i see. i've never had an issue yet
11:02 PM rue_shop4: na, I'll buy from aliexpress
11:02 PM zhanx: k
11:03 PM zhanx: thing is i dont thing i need ten
11:03 PM rue_shop4: when I first looked at the baord, I was pretty sure there were some GE-1 transistors
11:03 PM rue_shop4: (but no)
11:04 PM Tom_L: seem a little higher on ali
11:04 PM rue_shop4: its ok zhanx , you would have to pay more than they cost to send them to me
11:04 PM rue_shop4: prolly ~1.50ea
11:04 PM zhanx: not as a test and join project
11:05 PM rue_shop4: bad sellers sell things cheap to try to get their rating back up
11:05 PM zhanx: Canada costs too much
11:05 PM rue_shop4: they are usually bad sellers cause they dont ship and dont answer emails
11:05 PM Tom_L: good for me if they're trying to improve their rating by selling cheap to me
11:05 PM rue_shop4: heh
11:06 PM Tom_L: i don't need any right now anyway
11:06 PM Tom_L: someone was asking somewhere else
11:07 PM Tom_L: i got the power meter from ali with no issues
11:07 PM * katsmeow notes rue has not asked for the data sheet on thos parts
11:09 PM rue_shop4: I was just curious, I dont think I want to re-use the chips,
11:09 PM rue_shop4: the board is more of a meusum peice
11:09 PM rue_shop4: even tho its only 81
11:10 PM katsmeow: the 74 series came out before 1981 tho
11:10 PM zhanx: only
11:10 PM rue_shop4: leds are on dialight stands
11:11 PM rue_shop4: yea, it like it the last of ancient logic applications
11:11 PM rue_shop4: elevators
11:11 PM zhanx: take it you had fun today
11:12 PM rue_shop4: the door mtoor is 1/6Hp, 250vdc...!?!!?
11:12 PM rue_shop4: I have a 500 ohm resistor... about 12" long...
11:12 PM rue_shop4: ceramic variable tap
11:12 PM rue_shop4: today was otherwise a horrid day
11:13 PM rue_shop4: (except for the waterjet cutter)
11:13 PM rue_shop4: have to absorb that one
11:13 PM zhanx: mine was a routine if you can call it that
11:13 PM zhanx: everything just worked for the repairs no rework
11:15 PM rue_shop4: cool, hey what did the reader turn out to be?
11:16 PM zhanx: janitor
11:16 PM rue_shop4: ?
11:16 PM rue_shop4: washed it?
11:16 PM zhanx: water resistant is not water proof
11:17 PM zhanx: when i opened the box it was all corroded
11:18 PM Tom_L: rue_shop4, one of these? http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/temp/resistor2.jpg
11:18 PM katsmeow: that made me appreciate the gold plating in Tektronix equipment
11:19 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/temp/resistor1.jpg
11:20 PM zhanx: did a bunch of quick fixes mainly today
11:21 PM zhanx: new end on a wired security cam
11:21 PM zhanx: remount monitors
11:21 PM zhanx: run new cash drawer cables as they moved it
11:40 PM rue_mohr: Tom_L, yea, lots like that
11:40 PM rue_mohr: 175W eh?
11:41 PM katsmeow: what were they used for?
11:42 PM rue_mohr: I think for delaying relays
11:42 PM rue_mohr: in sequencing
11:42 PM rue_mohr: cause they had like 8 taps
11:42 PM katsmeow: 175 watts to slow a relay coil?
11:42 PM rue_mohr: slightly different coil volages to delay things a few ms while everyone kicked in
11:43 PM rue_mohr: I wonder if I can get the manual for it
11:43 PM rue_mohr: prolly can
11:43 PM rue_mohr: zhanx, you ran a laser cutter?
11:44 PM rue_mohr: tom?
11:44 PM zhanx: once or twice
11:44 PM rue_mohr: was the input file just polylines?
11:44 PM zhanx: basically
11:44 PM rue_mohr: ok
11:45 PM zhanx: same as waterjet
11:45 PM zhanx: inkscape can output the files
11:45 PM rue_mohr: thats what I got out of the waterjet thing
11:45 PM rue_mohr: it was intersting cause it was a chineese guy with prettymuch no english
11:52 PM katsmeow: hello?
11:55 PM zhanx: hi
11:56 PM katsmeow: hi
11:58 PM rue_mohr: hi
11:58 PM rue_mohr: ( I had to retype it 3 times)
