08:19 PM rue_: I just got the address of the sort facility I'm gonna write them, how ironic eh?
08:20 PM Tom_L: it's only the 19th
08:20 PM Tom_L: and they gotta have due union breaks
08:20 PM rue_: 3 months waiting for my packages
08:21 PM Tom_L: oh

08:21 PM rue_: your international
08:21 PM rue_: haha
08:24 PM Tom_L: so what's your next project gonna be?
08:30 PM rue_: a shippable gps that will last 3 weeks on battery, and be able to be shipped from china
08:31 PM Tom_L: they'd think you were shipping a bomb and it would never get there
08:42 PM rue_: everything gets there, not everything leaves
08:43 PM rue_: they have people buy things they dont want to deliver
08:43 PM rue_: ok I lettermailed canada post
08:43 PM rue_: specifically, the sorting facility
08:43 PM rue_: addressed it to anyone
08:44 PM Tom_L: you'll just piss em off
08:45 PM rue_: I wouldn't mail a bomb, I'm canadian, and that wouldn't be polite
08:46 PM Tom_L: i need more cad projects
08:46 PM Tom_L: that was fun
08:46 PM Tom_L: gimme some more
08:46 PM rue_: hahah
08:46 PM rue_: makea clock
08:46 PM rue_: not htat deep?
08:46 PM rue_: :)
08:47 PM Tom_L: if i had _ALL_ the parts, i would make an assembly for it in catia
08:47 PM rue_: what if that handle were split down the middle like you said, and profiled? na, there would have to be another flip
08:48 PM rue_: all the parts dont exist, there are no specs on the pipe
08:48 PM rue_: we have a template we use with a pen
08:50 PM rue_: I mean, there are some instructions, might be more frustration than fun
08:50 PM rue_: I got one for ya
08:50 PM rue_: you into selling some things?
08:50 PM rue_: maybe for a bit?
08:51 PM rue_: I dont know why, but these will sell...
08:52 PM rue_: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:706812
08:52 PM rue_: this thing always tops the list
08:52 PM rue_: if you did it in aluminum, I think people would freak out
08:52 PM rue_: there is a dxf in the files
08:53 PM rue_: the scad file is text, you can see how far each layer is extruded
08:53 PM rue_: I can break up the layers if you want
08:54 PM rue_: I dont have the time to sell them, of any of the stuff on my ebay pile
08:54 PM rue_: which is like, 1/10 of the spare livingroom
09:04 PM Tom_L: what's that for?
09:05 PM Tom_L: why would it sell better in aluminum?
09:05 PM Tom_L: that's a stamped part, not a milled part
09:14 PM rue_: its got an extra layer
09:14 PM rue_: a rim
09:14 PM rue_: you can mill it tho
09:14 PM Tom_L: i noticed that
09:14 PM rue_: people will go nuts, I have no idea WHY
09:14 PM Tom_L: wouldn't be worth it
09:14 PM Tom_L: too much spindle time
09:14 PM Tom_L: for what you would get out of it
09:14 PM rue_: hey, you asked
09:15 PM Tom_L: i did that
09:15 PM Tom_L: try again...
09:17 PM rue_: I ate, NOW can I fall asleep?
09:17 PM rue_: I need to alu-solder this head to fix it
09:18 PM rue_: milled the shoulder too deep
09:18 PM rue_: but its cold out and i'm in my pajamas
09:33 PM Tom_L: i can tell you one thing for sure about cold
09:33 PM Tom_L: usb optical mice don't like it
09:33 PM rue_: they start shaking?
09:33 PM rue_: ;)
09:33 PM Tom_L: does all kinds of crazy stuff
09:34 PM Tom_L: god forbid you try to control a cnc with one
09:35 PM rue_: I have pendant
09:35 PM Tom_L: so do i
09:35 PM rue_: for an "old stupid outdated method of interfacing with a machine" lots of people on thingiverse were interested
09:35 PM Tom_L: i had the file window open and it opened like 20+ instances of the editor and i didn't even ask for that
09:36 PM rue_: armyofevilrobots was in love when he saw the performance of the one I made
09:36 PM rue_: he kept trying to find a delay
09:36 PM Tom_L: i'd be lost without mine
09:36 PM rue_: just start from home
09:37 PM rue_: my origional machine takes manual positioning by delta inch inputs
09:37 PM rue_: aka 5.5 (inches)
09:37 PM rue_: no back -0.5
09:37 PM rue_: too far 0.25
09:37 PM rue_: little more
09:37 PM rue_: 0.05
09:38 PM rue_: tiny little more
09:38 PM rue_: 0.02
09:38 PM rue_: too far
09:38 PM rue_: -0.01
09:38 PM rue_: so yea
09:38 PM Tom_L: must take forever
09:38 PM rue_: its voltage driven unipolar on a parallel port
09:38 PM rue_: multiply forever by 4
09:39 PM rue_: thats sixteenever!
09:40 PM Tom_L: this is really the first thing i actually started out with a solid plan for
09:40 PM Tom_L: starting way back when i started on the control for the sherline
09:40 PM Tom_L: it's still way more than i need
09:40 PM Tom_L: but most of it was surplus
09:40 PM rue_: thats good
09:41 PM rue_: its awesome, I hope mine comes out half as nice
09:41 PM Tom_L: still haven't blown that 5A fuse on the spindle
09:41 PM Tom_L: i hope it does too
09:41 PM rue_: 10 weeks budget?
09:41 PM Tom_L: how long did it take me?
09:41 PM Tom_L: i wasn't really keeping track
09:41 PM rue_: I need to remember how to spend money again
09:41 PM rue_: about 2 months
09:41 PM Tom_L: not too bad
09:42 PM rue_: pretty damn good
09:42 PM Tom_L: i lucked out on some of the scrap
09:42 PM rue_: esp considering
09:42 PM Tom_L: like the table
09:42 PM Tom_L: it was just there one day
09:42 PM Tom_L: so i snached it up
09:42 PM Tom_L: one more day and it would have been gone
09:42 PM Tom_L: like that heat sink i got a long time ago
09:43 PM Tom_L: same place
09:43 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/psu/heatsink_bulk.jpg
09:43 PM Tom_L: still got a good piece of that left
09:47 PM Tom_L: have you started thinking how your next one will be?
09:47 PM rue_: yes, but sliders are a problem
09:48 PM rue_: and I REALLY want ballscrews, but again, OUCH
09:48 PM Tom_L: that's where i splurged and am not sorry about it
09:48 PM rue_: so, in the box I have the idea for belt drive...
09:49 PM Tom_L: they work on routers but i'm not sure they'd be ok on a mill
09:49 PM Tom_L: or plasma cuters etc
09:49 PM rue_: it would help if the metal I wanted to make it from were -) not burried in 4" of snow -) not cold as all hell -) about 80 lbs lighter
09:49 PM rue_: yea, I dont like the stretch thing
09:50 PM Tom_L: yeah i went diggin on some not so nice days too
09:50 PM rue_: its sad, I DO have a lathe
09:50 PM Tom_L: yeah they kinda compliment each other
09:50 PM Tom_L: i've had my lathe for alot of years
09:50 PM rue_: but acme thread still has all that friction
09:51 PM Tom_L: if you're gonna do it, don't go cheap on the rails or screws
09:51 PM Tom_L: you'll be glad in the end
09:51 PM rue_: thats what keeps playing in the background
09:51 PM Tom_L: i had no idea what to expect
09:51 PM Tom_L: but it exceeds that
09:52 PM Tom_L: that one kit is the cheapest all around i've ever come across
09:52 PM Tom_L: i did shorten the Y screw and rails
09:53 PM Tom_L: i made a collar to fit over the screw to hold it in the lathe
09:53 PM Tom_L: it wouldn't fit in mine so my bud did that for me
09:54 PM rue_: dragging my self to shop
