01:03 PM Tom_L: found a chunk of 5/16
01:06 PM Tom_L: not sure what it is though
01:34 PM Tom_L: actually mics at around .320 but i think that's ok for that part
07:26 PM Tom_L: brown or black bears?
07:26 PM * Tom_L isn't sure which is worse
07:35 PM Tom_L: long day here, not gonna do much on the mill
07:35 PM Tom_L: may work on the cad a bit
07:37 PM Tom_L: did get the softjaw profile programmed
07:37 PM Tom_L: if you have a way to hold it vertical i can send you the code for it
08:47 PM rue_: I think mostly black
08:47 PM rue_: if you have a way of sending me the position data for the jig I can 3d print something
08:51 PM Tom_L: i'd have to make a solid from it in catia
08:51 PM Tom_L: the gcode is for the removal part not what you would be printing
08:51 PM Tom_L: unless you have a way to invert it
08:57 PM rue_: dxf is easiest for me, but I realize that making a slice of a 3d object into a dxf can be impossable sometimes
08:57 PM rue_: can you do an stl?
09:10 PM Tom_L: not from smartcam
09:10 PM Tom_L: but i can from sw or catia
09:11 PM Tom_L: let me see what i can come up with
09:53 PM rue_shop3: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:962156
10:03 PM Tom_L: almost done
10:11 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/Extra/A12_softjaws.jpg
10:12 PM Tom_L: stl is there too
10:12 PM Tom_L: i think you cut to the top of the stock
10:12 PM Tom_L: that's where the lines were
10:13 PM Tom_L: 1/8" deep recess
10:13 PM Tom_L: if that's too much i can change it easy
10:13 PM rue_: should be fine
10:14 PM Tom_L: i can adjust the stock size too if you need me to
10:14 PM rue_: one of the printers is busy, the other is out of plastic, I'll need to wait till tommorow
10:14 PM rue_: I can edit the stl :)
10:14 PM Tom_L: i just threw something out there because i didn't know how much room i'd need
10:15 PM Tom_L: it's literally 2 clicks
10:15 PM rue_: :) np
10:15 PM rue_: the fellow making them way by the shop today, did a trigger, likes the high speed
10:15 PM rue_: was
10:16 PM rue_: says the problem is sanding them round, small peice gets hot quick
10:16 PM Tom_L: high speed?
10:16 PM rue_: the 85mm/min
10:16 PM Tom_L: oh
10:16 PM rue_: I used the triggers to play with the cut speeds
10:16 PM rue_: did 9 in the process
10:16 PM rue_: cause, you know, you cant tune a machine while its idle
10:17 PM rue_: ;)
10:17 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/Extra/A12_softjaws_1inch.jpg
10:18 PM rue_: how about 1/4" thick
10:18 PM Tom_L: material?
10:18 PM Tom_L: ok hang on
10:18 PM Tom_L: on the short one?
10:19 PM Tom_L: ok, the 1inch stl is 1/4" thick
10:20 PM Tom_L: unless you need it taller
10:20 PM Tom_L: i don't remember what the other one was now :)
10:20 PM Tom_L: 2" I THINK
10:20 PM Tom_L: we'll get you up to speed yet
10:21 PM Tom_L: make sure i have those oriented right
10:21 PM Tom_L: so you cut with the same side against the jig both times
10:21 PM Tom_L: so there's no variance in the 2 cuts
10:22 PM Tom_L: it looks backwards
10:23 PM rue_: but wait, you said the cutouts are 1/8"
10:23 PM rue_: so they should go halfway thru?
10:23 PM Tom_L: i don't follow
10:23 PM Tom_L: as long as you have them aligned
10:24 PM Tom_L: there could be slight deviation if you flip the part to do the other cut
10:24 PM rue_: if, the parts are impressed 1/8" in 1/4" material, they will be half way thru
10:24 PM Tom_L: tolerance.
10:24 PM Tom_L: try one and see
10:24 PM rue_: were talking about the soft jaw, right?
10:24 PM Tom_L: i can flip the model if i have to
10:24 PM Tom_L: yes
10:25 PM Tom_L: i meant to make it so you would just rotate the part and put it in the 2nd cut slot without flipping it over
10:25 PM Tom_L: but i muffed that up
10:25 PM Tom_L: see that way the cutter would align pretty close to spot on
10:25 PM rue_: ok, the stl, if the cutouts are 1/8" must be 1/2" material?
10:26 PM Tom_L: the first one is 1/2"
10:26 PM rue_: k
10:26 PM Tom_L: the one i fixed 1inch is 1/4"
10:26 PM Tom_L: grab it
10:26 PM Tom_L: it's teh short one
10:26 PM Tom_L: you want it longer?
10:26 PM rue_: hold up
10:27 PM rue_: trying to work out which one to click!
10:27 PM Tom_L: i can make the block any size you want
10:27 PM rue_: I was saying it could be 1/4" thick
10:27 PM Tom_L: use the 1inch
10:27 PM Tom_L: it is
10:27 PM Tom_L: the new one i just posted
10:28 PM rue_: with the same name of called 1"
10:28 PM Tom_L: yes
10:28 PM Tom_L: softjaw_1inch or such
10:28 PM rue_: so the 1" is 1/4"
10:28 PM Tom_L: they both will be here in a sec
10:28 PM rue_: hah
10:29 PM Tom_L: now they both are
10:29 PM rue_: ah yes, 1" is 1/4"
10:29 PM rue_: ok
10:29 PM Tom_L: so is the 2" one now
10:32 PM Tom_L: that should speed that part up alot
10:38 PM Tom_L: oops i see now i named the stl diferent from the jpg :)
10:39 PM Tom_L: softjaw vs vicejaw
10:40 PM * Tom_L sees smoke rollin outta rue_shop3's shop
