01:39 AM rue_bed: cool
01:42 AM rue_bed: your sure you dont want pulser code for the coolant?
01:42 AM rue_bed: 1 sec on, 3 sec off?
05:52 AM Tom_L: won't work
05:52 AM Tom_L: it would cyphon back into the jug
06:58 PM rue_: after 1 second it would prolly get back to the head tho
07:39 PM Tom_L: gonna go try one
08:14 PM Tom_shop: this material cuts alot better
08:18 PM Tom_shop: S3000 F6
08:43 PM Tom_shop: 33 min
09:36 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/A9_1.jpg

09:38 PM ASRock_pc: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEBdYonn3sw&feature=youtu.be
09:38 PM Tom_L: i need to revise the program a little but not bad for the first run
09:38 PM Tom_L: the ballnose could be finer stepover
09:39 PM Tom_L: and i still need to go deeper on the last cut
09:42 PM ASRock_pc: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhw8fYyC3Jw&feature=youtu.be
09:43 PM Tom_L: it did pretty good at the programmed feed/speed
09:43 PM Tom_L: i started out with it slower and bumped up to 100% and it did fine
09:44 PM ASRock_pc: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhw8fYyC3Jw&feature=youtu.be
09:49 PM rue_: ah looka dat
09:49 PM Tom_L: needs a little work but not too bad
09:51 PM Tom_L: what was the ID of that tube again?
09:51 PM rue_: thats moving along pretty good
09:51 PM rue_: is that a flat or spiral bit?
09:51 PM Tom_L: flat
09:51 PM Tom_L: flat bottom
09:52 PM Tom_L: i've got some high helix ones but i didn't use them
09:52 PM Tom_L: high helix are for aluminum
09:52 PM rue_: ah
09:53 PM Tom_L: so far things are good on the mill
09:53 PM rue_: I notived a diff detween the flat and pcb drill bits
09:53 PM zhanx: good
09:53 PM Tom_L: i need to fix the drips
09:53 PM Tom_L: i'll get some plexi to replace the coolant soaked cardboard soon
09:53 PM Tom_L: and mill a drain trough around the cutting area
09:54 PM Tom_L: recycle the coolant
09:54 PM rue_: the tube OD is 1" and the wall thickness is .067
09:55 PM rue_: big chips
09:55 PM rue_: so thats 3000 ipm?
09:55 PM Tom_L: .866 id then
09:55 PM Tom_L: that's 3000 rpm
09:55 PM rue_: ah
09:55 PM Tom_L: iirc 6 ipm
09:55 PM rue_: 6ipm...
09:55 PM rue_: so, yo ucan do 12ipm @ 6k
09:56 PM rue_: ?
09:56 PM Tom_L: S3000 F6
09:56 PM Tom_L: i could probably go faster at 3000
09:56 PM Tom_L: but i didn't wanna push it right away without knowing
09:56 PM Tom_L: i wanted to get a part out to check it over
09:56 PM rue_: your top is about 8k isn't it?
09:56 PM Tom_L: 5-6
09:56 PM rue_: oh
09:57 PM rue_: 152 ipm
09:57 PM rue_: er, mm/min
09:57 PM rue_: haha
09:57 PM rue_: rue wake up!
09:57 PM rue_: 152mm/min
09:57 PM Tom_L: i manually changed it to 4000 but i edited the program and reposted it so it reverted back to what's in the cam
09:57 PM rue_: I'm using 61
09:57 PM Tom_L: i'm sure it can go higher
09:58 PM Tom_L: but i didn't wanna chance it
09:58 PM Tom_L: i should be able to cut a .001" chip load with no problems at all
09:58 PM Tom_L: big ones cut alum between .002 and .004
10:04 PM rue_: I'm gonna have to play when I get my new bits
10:04 PM rue_: I'v got stuff from china thats not arrived in 4 months now
10:04 PM Tom_L: what size bits are you using?
10:04 PM rue_: 1/8"
10:05 PM Tom_L: can you get a ball nose?
10:05 PM Tom_L: 1/8"
10:05 PM rue_: well not soon
10:05 PM rue_: but yea
10:05 PM Tom_L: i can send you the program and you can break it up into tools
10:05 PM Tom_L: and try it once i get it right
10:06 PM Tom_L: i found my 1/8" ballnose after i had already programmed the 3/16
10:06 PM Tom_L: it would take longer to run
10:07 PM Tom_L: i used a .050" stepover on that one and i need to cut that in half at least
10:07 PM rue_: hmm
10:07 PM Tom_L: unless it doesn't matter to you
10:07 PM rue_: I'd be nervous
10:07 PM rue_: I think your using a lot more machine rigidity than anything I have has
10:08 PM rue_: I have to wake up a bit
10:09 PM Tom_L: i don't think i'd try it on the sherline i know
10:14 PM rue_: I'm not sure whats more ridgid, the sherline or my new one
10:14 PM rue_: the new one dosn't have a high torque spindle, its meant for high speed
10:14 PM rue_: 12k
10:14 PM rue_: for 1mm bits
10:15 PM rue_: and I'm limited by the heat buildup
10:15 PM rue_: hey, idea
10:15 PM rue_: got a paint can there anywhere?
10:15 PM Tom_L: i'm sure
10:16 PM rue_: the depth of the step dosn't look right on A9 tho
10:16 PM Tom_L: i'm in for the night though
10:16 PM Tom_L: it may need adjusting
10:16 PM rue_: k, maybe tommorow try wrapping those peices aroundt he head pf a paint can and see how they do
10:16 PM Tom_L: one sec
10:16 PM rue_: so, shall I send ya some 3d printed bits to make one up and try it?
10:21 PM Tom_L: naw
10:24 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/can1.jpg
10:24 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Can_Holder/can2.jpg
10:24 PM Tom_L: it needs a better radius to fit good
10:24 PM Tom_L: these cans don't have much of a lip either
10:25 PM Tom_L: 10 radius looks ok but 9 could be bigger i think
10:26 PM Tom_L: the slot look ok?
10:29 PM Tom_L: i think i'll edit that polyline and put an arc in there so i can work with it better
10:29 PM Tom_L: not tonight though
10:39 PM rue_shop3: no, thats good,
10:39 PM rue_shop3: the spring causes it to pull the pieces
10:40 PM rue_shop3: but it is designed for a specific type of can
10:41 PM rue_shop3: but the bottom of that lip needs to be against the can, if its sitting on the larger shoulder it wont grab properly
10:42 PM Tom_L: that's why i think the radius on A9 needs to be a little bigger
10:42 PM rue_shop3: you can see it better than me :)
10:43 PM Tom_L: the bottom touches the can
10:44 PM Tom_L: but if you look at can1 it doesn't go all the way in because it hits on the 1/8" part
10:44 PM Tom_L: doesn't need much but a little more arc will let it go all the way in i think
10:44 PM rue_shop3: yep
10:44 PM Tom_L: i had to edit that because the surface didn't come in all the way
10:45 PM Tom_L: i need to work on the ballnose path too
10:45 PM Tom_L: finer cuts and it needs to go down a little more
10:45 PM Tom_L: unless you wanna file em all
10:45 PM Tom_L: i knocked the bump off the 1/8" with a file
10:46 PM Tom_L: you can kinda see the ridge i'm talking about in can1
10:46 PM Tom_L: this should be a stronger part though
10:47 PM Tom_L: does the ballnose look ok around the slot?
11:28 PM rue_: I saw the ridge in the 3d print
11:29 PM Tom_L: it'll take longer to cut but be a better radius when i'm done
11:30 PM Tom_L: i'm gonna reprogram it for a 1/8" ballnose
