01:27 PM Tom_itx is now known as Tom_L
09:39 PM Tom_L: 9.5" Z travel
09:48 PM rue_mohr: huge
09:59 PM Tom_L: pics to come
10:01 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/Column_Mill_VMC.jpg
10:02 PM Tom_L: that's with the correct linear slide blocks
10:02 PM Tom_L: and the new Z column design
10:03 PM rue_mohr: the X motor bracket needs help
10:03 PM Tom_L: yeah probably so
10:04 PM Tom_L: it will bolt to the side of the aluminum plate though
10:04 PM Tom_L: and it's got a flat between the braces
10:04 PM Tom_L: not just those 2 hangars
10:06 PM Tom_L: the way it is, i'll be able to use longer cutters and short ones like fly cutters to reach clear to the table
10:07 PM Tom_L: and i can make other extension plates for it if i need more Y
10:09 PM Tom_L: i could use an L bracket on X and reverse mount it under the table but i wanted adjustment to be able to center the shafts
10:11 PM Tom_L: i could make an aluminum block and bolt it under the table like the ballscrews have too
10:11 PM Tom_L: and mount the stepper to that
10:41 PM rue_mohr: mom unwrapped the present I got for my friend, and he was here, dont know if he saw it
10:41 PM Tom_L: hah
10:41 PM rue_mohr: kinda lame, I wrapped it back up, but ... oh foo.
10:42 PM rue_mohr: I have one of those things like it feels like my head is going to split open
10:43 PM rue_mohr: and it comes with a cough, which does that agravation thing with it
10:47 PM Tom_L: ok i think this model is accurate now
10:47 PM rue_mohr: good thing I havn't made moms present yet
10:48 PM Tom_L: i had some sub assemblies and to get things to connect you need to make them flexible
10:48 PM Tom_L: so i had to fix that to make sure all my ballscrew mounts fit the plates when bolted to the slide skates
10:49 PM rue_mohr: do you know what size cable chain your interested in?
10:49 PM rue_mohr: I DONT LIKE IT WHEN MY HEAD THROBS LIKE THIS
10:50 PM rue_mohr: so, I got some PID test code working
10:50 PM Tom_L: it has to hold the stepper wire (18ga x 4) and maybe 2 limit switch wires on X and on Y it has to hold that plus limit wires
10:50 PM rue_mohr: dont have a real world loop to apply it to, simulated an integrator
10:51 PM Tom_L: so i will have 3 but i'm not sure Z will use one or not yet
10:51 PM rue_mohr: and coolant (air/fluid or both)
10:51 PM Tom_L: since the Z motor is stationary
10:51 PM rue_mohr: and motor cables
10:51 PM rue_mohr: and sensor
10:51 PM Tom_L: i'll figure all that out later but i doubt any of that would go thru it
10:51 PM rue_mohr: and laser pointer power
10:52 PM Tom_L: maybe 15x25mm or so
10:52 PM Tom_L: so far i like this last design
10:53 PM Tom_L: i'll have to get a longer belt for Z
10:53 PM Tom_L: 107 tooth instead of 80
10:54 PM rue_mohr: how are you doing belt adjustment
10:54 PM rue_mohr: move motor? idler?
10:54 PM Tom_L: move the motor probably
10:55 PM Tom_L: i need to check tomorrow to see if i can use the 700mm screw on Y
10:55 PM Tom_L: i figured on using a 500mm one
10:56 PM Tom_L: if i can use the 700mm one i'll only have to cut one
10:57 PM Tom_L: i'll lay it all out a couple times before i make anything permanent
11:01 PM Tom_L: so i should have about 9" in Z, about 12" in Y and about 19" in X absolute maximums
11:02 PM Tom_L: not bad considering the sherline had maybe 4 in Z, 7 in Y and 9 in X
11:02 PM Tom_L: approx
11:07 PM Tom_L: ok i gotta sleep
