06:04 AM Tom_itx: time looks right now rue
08:48 AM rue_mohr: yay
08:48 AM rue_mohr: kat technically yes, but no
08:48 AM rue_mohr: I just use my XY plotter
09:15 AM rue_mohr: hahahah
09:15 AM rue_mohr: hahahahahahahah
09:15 AM rue_mohr: oh my
09:16 AM rue_mohr: its computationally less intense to work out the distance from a point to a line by working out the triangle area and reversing out the base height
09:17 AM rue_mohr: you just have to filter out triangles with angles higher than 90 degrees

11:08 PM Tom_itx is now known as Tom_L
11:13 PM rue_mohr: nice
11:13 PM rue_mohr: I still root for the round notch tho :)
11:13 PM Tom_L: hah
11:14 PM Tom_L: i need to trim the top piece a bit to make room for the weld bead
11:14 PM rue_mohr: did you just size the lower screws accordingly?
11:14 PM Tom_L: ?
11:14 PM Tom_L: i used 10/32
11:14 PM rue_mohr: top ones stick thru
11:14 PM Tom_L: just some i had
11:14 PM Tom_L: 10-32nf
11:14 PM rue_mohr: lower ones need to be shorter...
11:15 PM Tom_L: i may drill into the tube
11:15 PM Tom_L: i need to drill/tap a couple mount holes in it for the plate anyway
11:15 PM Tom_L: maybe make slots in the plate for slight adjustment
11:16 PM rue_mohr: or stand the plate back?
11:17 PM rue_mohr: gee those are long
11:17 PM Tom_L: the steppers?
11:17 PM rue_mohr: million inch-lbs?
11:17 PM Tom_L: 570 iirc
11:17 PM Tom_L: 3/8 shaft
11:17 PM rue_mohr: inch oz or lbs?
11:18 PM Tom_L: oz
11:18 PM Tom_L: the ones on the sherline are 282
11:18 PM rue_mohr: I thought you said 3/4 shaft for a sec
11:18 PM Tom_L: from what originally was 165ish
11:18 PM rue_mohr: 1.4*?
11:18 PM Tom_L: probably direct drive
11:18 PM rue_mohr: no, like 200spr?
11:19 PM Tom_L: oh i dunno
11:19 PM rue_mohr: hopefully now 7.2 degree
11:19 PM Tom_L: i think they are
11:19 PM Tom_L: 1.8
11:19 PM rue_mohr: or 3.6
11:19 PM rue_mohr: er, yea, 1.8
11:19 PM rue_mohr: ugh, I swear my brain is failing
11:19 PM Tom_L: i'd have to look but i'm pretty sure
11:20 PM Tom_L: i've had all 3 on my drivers to test em
11:20 PM rue_mohr: :)
11:20 PM Tom_L: at too low current
11:20 PM Tom_L: 2.5A instead of 5
11:20 PM Tom_L: my others could be set for 4A iirc but i'm not pushing em
11:21 PM rue_mohr: iirc, the high current ones dance better
11:21 PM Tom_L: yeah, bipolar parallel 4.2A
11:21 PM rue_mohr: higher speed?
11:22 PM Tom_L: i think the speed comes with more voltage
11:22 PM rue_mohr: dont remember how that works, dosn't make sense at the moment
11:22 PM Tom_L: probably just more holding torque
11:23 PM Tom_L: the drivers have idle current shutdown so they don't get that hot
11:25 PM Tom_L: i screwed up the first mount
11:26 PM Tom_L: tried drilling with a carbide impregnated hole saw and it just wallered the hole out
11:26 PM Tom_L: did these on the lathe
11:26 PM Tom_L: i didn't have a good holesaw the right size or it probably would have worked ok
11:40 PM rue_mohr: I'v done a few holes on the lathe
11:41 PM rue_mohr: lots of thought about weather it was worth changing chucks
11:53 PM Tom_L: no matter here, all i've got is a 4 jaw
11:57 PM Tom_L: the offset one was just about all it would do too
11:57 PM rue_mohr: hmm
11:57 PM rue_mohr: so every job takes some time to set up
11:58 PM rue_mohr: and your not always 1 thou out
11:58 PM Tom_L: not so much
11:58 PM rue_mohr: (I keep predetermined shims for when I care)
11:58 PM Tom_L: unless i wanna get out the last word indicator
11:58 PM Tom_L: that old lathe has wear anyway
