01:04 PM jym: I did have a propane air forced heater before. It DID work, just sucked down 5 gallons of propane in 14 hours. But now, it's a necessary evil.
01:05 PM jym: I considered diesel/kerosene forced air heater, but kerosene is $6.50/gal and diesel, while only $2.50/gal would leave soot on everything.

01:07 PM rue_shop3: yup, keep in mind for next time: a) cant overdraft a fire b) pulling air into a fire works better than pushing it in c) almost all of the heat is IR, convection is only a small part of it d) the wood burns where the air hits it, it cant be as hot as you want, without the air it wont burn e) there are 3 stages of burning (see internet) and they can be physically seperated f) you have to keep the surfaces of the combustion chamb
01:07 PM rue_shop3: er hot, or the carbon will build up on them, meaning you can only subject them to temperatures down to a minimum point, this dossn't mean you cant get power out, just not a huge temp step g) temperature != watts, you can have a 50000 btu/hr furnace that only puts out 50*c, it'll just put out a lot of it, think of a transistor and a heatsink
01:10 PM jym: Sadly, with the lil portable firebox, I was watching most of the heat going out of the flue pipe instead of going into the garage =)
