[00:54:56] <rue_house> hmm
[07:26:09] <zhanx> overnight sensor test, my dht22 temp sensor failed at 33.5 degrees, never reaching the min threshold. The dht22 (upgraded version of dht11) is working down to currently -12°C which matches my digital thermometer.
[07:38:06] <zhanx> rue have you made an anemometer already?
[07:39:26] <rue_shop3> heh I did, and it fell apart of age before it ever read a number
[07:39:51] <rue_shop3> http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/images/ano1.jpg
[07:39:56] <rue_shop3> poor thing
[07:40:13] <rue_shop3> a tree kinda ate it
[07:41:10] <rue_shop3> http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/images/catnmice.jpg
[07:41:16] <rue_shop3> the day the cat found my box of mice
[07:41:26] <rue_shop3> I love his face in that one.
[07:41:43] <zhanx> that made me laugh
[07:42:05] <rue_shop3> I was really glad I was able to snap a pic before he jumped down
[07:42:14] <zhanx> what did you use for spoons and the cat like, darn foiled again
[07:42:28] <rue_shop3> heh
[07:42:34] <rue_shop3> ping pong balls cut in half
[07:42:38] <rue_shop3> THEY STINK!
[07:42:56] <zhanx> k, that i know, hall sensor to read it?
[07:42:58] <rue_shop3> the cnc is almost done
[07:43:07] <zhanx> cool
[07:43:15] <rue_shop3> yea, I think I used a solid state hall from a muffin fan
[07:43:37] <rue_shop3> the spindle regulator is working
[07:43:37] <zhanx> i think i got an an extra encoder
[07:43:43] <rue_shop3> muffin fan
[07:43:46] <rue_shop3> 3 pins
[07:43:48] <zhanx> might use that
[07:43:49] <rue_shop3> + - out
[07:43:53] <rue_shop3> out is a bipolar driver
[07:43:57] <rue_shop3> latching
[07:44:02] <zhanx> k
[07:44:15] <rue_shop3> 4 pin is just 2 outs, inverted
[07:44:31] <rue_shop3> http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/projects/cnc4/p1080740.jpg
[07:44:39] <rue_shop3> got pass 1 done on all the spindle wiring
[07:44:56] <rue_shop3> need to make up a spindle controller box
[07:45:05] <zhanx> yea think i make one then, rue what size stepper is that?
[07:45:05] <rue_shop3> power supply might be an issue
[07:45:11] <zhanx> that thing is large
[07:45:18] <rue_shop3> no
[07:45:26] <rue_shop3> the beds workable is only
[07:45:40] <rue_shop3> 16*18cm
[07:46:09] <zhanx> oh ok, the z axis stepper is a nema 23 then?
[07:46:14] <rue_shop3> not all the Z range is usable, the list goes on, but it works
[07:46:22] <rue_shop3> its close to 23
[07:46:30] <zhanx> k
[07:46:39] <zhanx> brb need more tea
[07:47:13] <rue_shop3> maybe it is, they are odd cause they have a rubber vibration arrestor moulded in
[07:48:01] <rue_shop3> I have a pile of them, turns out they are overkill, the thing can do over 500mm/min
[07:48:44] <rue_shop3> and at 300mm/min, I cant stall it (pushing on the table)
[07:49:01] <rue_shop3> more than enough force to break any bit that will fit in the ER11 collette
[07:50:50] <zhanx> i got a full sixe copy machine to tear down
[07:51:16] <rue_shop3> :)
[07:51:26] <rue_shop3> try not to let them stack up like mine did
[07:51:36] <zhanx> well it works is the issue
[07:51:43] <zhanx> but i need the motors out of it
[07:52:01] <zhanx> so today it is recycled
[08:16:07] <zhanx> looks like this control board is going in the oven to get parts off
[09:27:18] <zhanx> ok tore down one copy machine
[09:28:11] <zhanx> 3 motors, some switches, rods, springs etc all saved. and the scanner tray i left as one piece. Its like the base for a 3d printer is all ready made almost
[09:33:18] <Jymmm> Eh, I only tear down copy machines for the SS rods anymore
[09:33:39] <Jymmm> Unless is has some nice NEMA23 motors
[09:35:18] <zhanx> got some nema 17's out of it, which is weird
[09:36:10] <Jymmm> 17 is okey, might be nice for your cnc hot glue gun
[09:38:32] <Jymmm> s/okey/acceptable/
[09:45:39] <Jymmm> Finally found some 3" tubing, then ran out of welding wire =(
[09:54:35] <zhanx> official sunrise was at 7:20 am est my sensors started detecting it at 6:56.32 not bad really
[10:30:48] <Jymmm> When your sensors can detect the winning lottery numbers, let us know =)
[11:38:45] <zhanx> Jymmm: after i test it a few times to ensure its secusseful tests ok.
[11:59:06] <Jymmm> zhanx: sounds like a plan =)
[19:02:25] <zhanx> Tom_L while your 100% right on the politic's the news is what rue gets to see and they are slightly slanted these days
[19:06:03] <Tom_L> they're just mad
[19:06:37] <Tom_L> especially after he slammed CNN reporters
[19:07:27] <zhanx> CNN ran 61 inaccurate or blatantly wrong stories on him in the last 3 months do you blame him
[19:07:33] <Tom_L> payback is a bitch sometimes
[19:09:03] <zhanx> true
[19:09:36] <zhanx> and after cnn was caught twice giving questions to clintion, they knew they were wrong and attacked him more
[19:32:45] <rue_shop3> the things they do get away with are amazing
[19:35:04] <Tom_L> it's just like an elementary school playground
[19:35:46] <Tom_L> few more finishing touches on my program..
[19:45:09] <rue_shop3> I'm rewriting my NC spooler
[19:45:15] <rue_shop3> ooping it up a bit
[19:45:22] <rue_shop3> maybe the next one I'll do emc
[19:45:44] <rue_shop3> how hard do you think a custom serial pendant would be?
[19:45:49] <rue_shop3> to hook up?
[19:45:51] <Tom_L> if you're 'spending' on your new mill mesa would be a good investment
[19:46:08] <Tom_L> they've done game controllers
[19:46:14] <Tom_L> ps2
[19:46:25] <Tom_L> are they serial?
[19:50:01] <rue_shop3> no no
[19:50:05] <rue_shop3> I need a wheel
[19:52:16] <Tom_L> http://store.mesanet.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=116&search=pendant
[19:52:24] <Tom_L> RS422
[19:52:43] <Tom_L> if you ever feel spendy
[19:53:21] <Tom_L> supports LCD too over RS422
[19:54:20] <rue_shop3> no I have the pendent I made, which is great
[19:54:24] <rue_shop3> but I'd have to code it in
[19:54:28] <Tom_L> i know
[19:54:38] <Tom_L> i was just showing you that
[19:54:43] <rue_shop3> gonna make more, when the parts show up
[19:55:14] <Tom_L> http://store.mesanet.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=291&search=7i90
[19:55:19] <Tom_L> that's the main card i'm using
[19:55:25] <Tom_L> with one daughter card
[19:55:32] <rue_shop3> tom, I think that other link is what I made, for $3
[19:55:53] <Tom_L> likely so but this integrates with those boards seamlessly
[19:56:10] <rue_shop3> mmhmmm
[19:56:21] <Tom_L> http://store.mesanet.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=99&search=7i47s
[19:56:25] <rue_shop3> waaay too much money for me
[19:56:28] <Tom_L> that's the daughter card i'm using
[19:56:36] <Tom_L> with spindle control
[19:56:43] <Tom_L> dac out
[19:56:46] <rue_shop3> those 3
[19:56:53] <Tom_L> just the last 2 for me
[19:56:58] <rue_shop3> are the budget I have for the next 4 cnc machines all added up
[19:57:32] <Tom_L> that would set you up nice though, just those 2 cards
[19:57:48] <Tom_L> you could get a cheaper daughter card probably
[19:57:50] <rue_shop3> I'm gonna be building a bunch of machines
[19:58:00] <Tom_L> that's what i wanted though since it's got rs422
[19:58:01] <rue_shop3> grbl is $3
[19:58:05] <rue_shop3> mmm
[19:58:15] <rue_shop3> your machine is better, dont get me wrong
[19:58:23] <rue_shop3> and my budget is muuuuuch smaller
[19:58:38] <Tom_L> i realize that
[19:59:04] <rue_shop3> "if I had a million dollars..."
[19:59:20] <rue_shop3> turn it into a new house with a shop...
[19:59:46] <Tom_L> that's why i sit here and do nothing alot
[19:59:52] <rue_shop3> heh
[20:00:08] <rue_shop3> I'd farm parts of this project to ya, but it wouldn't work
[20:00:14] <Tom_L> but for me i wanted to improve an already working mill
[20:00:22] <rue_shop3> yup
[20:00:24] <Tom_L> like what?
[20:00:35] <rue_shop3> were making some stuff for a log sort
[20:00:56] <Tom_L> i haven't had the mill on in probably 6 mo now
[20:01:00] <rue_shop3> sounds like we just got the go on $3600 of things
[20:01:23] <rue_shop3> you need a 3d printer to inspire you
[20:01:34] <rue_shop3> did you make a drill guage yet?
[20:01:38] <Tom_L> no
[20:01:42] <rue_shop3> see!?
[20:01:45] <Tom_L> i have a calipers
[20:01:49] <Tom_L> and a drill chart
[20:02:05] <Tom_L> and a full set of drills (115) iirc
[20:02:10] <rue_shop3> sometimes its nice to take a switch and stuff it in holes till you find the one that fits nice
[20:02:31] <rue_shop3> so far I have imperial, number (letter) and metric from 1mm to 10mm
[20:02:52] <Tom_L> i don't use many metric drills but i have a few with a few metric taps
[20:02:55] <rue_shop3> and a 5/8 and 3/4 and an 11 and 12mm
[20:03:16] <zhanx> rue why so many cnc machines?
[20:03:26] <rue_shop3> log sort project
[20:03:29] <Tom_L> and i have a smaller crap set of drills i use for every day
[20:03:31] <rue_shop3> AND I have a dream
[20:03:47] <rue_shop3> where I sit designing parts for a project and pushing them to machines as I finish
[20:04:13] <rue_shop3> and a while after I'm finished pushing the last part to a machine, all the parts are made
[20:04:26] <Tom_L> zhanx has a mill
[20:05:16] <Tom_L> i just wish mine weighed around 1000 lbs and was either steel or cast
[20:06:16] <rue_shop3> I need to go play with my mill again one day
[20:06:18] <rue_shop3> :/
[20:06:31] <rue_shop3> I have some vise jaws I want to finish
[20:12:50] <rue_shop3> printers too
[20:12:55] <rue_shop3> like a wall of them
