[19:26:33] <rue_house> rue_bed2, take metal to martys
[19:26:37] <rue_house> dig up potatoes
[19:26:48] <rue_house> assemble feedback controller
[19:28:50] <rue_house> fire up boiler
[19:32:12] <Tom_L> eat
[19:32:44] <rue_house> I'm making a futile effort to stay awake right now
[19:33:34] <Tom_L> if i was motivated to get a 3d printer i might try one of those
[19:33:59] <rue_house> it looks fine
[19:41:07] <rue_house> I wonder how much water is in the boiler
[19:41:24] <rue_house> I wonder if I have the radiator valves closed (rad was leaking)
[19:41:33] <rue_house> I wonder if the pipe was leaking or the core
[21:49:53] <rue_house> ok I took the metal to martys
[21:50:03] <rue_house> I forgot the potatoes, its dark now
[21:50:16] <rue_house> fire up boiler...
[23:09:03] <katsmeow> found both complete seasons of a UK tv show on a teen humanoid girl robot and and the typical horrible company and dumb parents
[23:10:55] <katsmeow> typical stuff, like boy says "game over" and the robot asks "what game is over?"
[23:11:36] <katsmeow> and anything hitech is glowing blue
[23:14:53] <rue_house> hey
[23:15:09] <rue_house> I have the boiler going
[23:15:23] <rue_house> its burning good, but the blower is having to really work for it
[23:15:54] <rue_house> the metal is just too degraded
[23:16:13] <rue_house> i'm running it to empty all the paper and wood I threw in there this summer
[23:16:21] <rue_house> I need the grate back from under it
[23:16:52] * katsmeow nods
[23:17:17] <rue_house> and the weather has cooled off a bunch
[23:18:22] <rue_house> all summer all the valves were open and it only lost like 5L of water, which is good, I thought there was a significant leak
[23:18:55] <rue_house> but a bunch of my punched aluminum valve ID tags are missing
[23:19:01] <rue_house> dont know what happened there
[23:19:36] <katsmeow> humiditty caused corrosion, touching the steel handles?
[23:19:46] <rue_house> I still havn't found a good "ding ding" of a boat bell to use for the driveway monitor
[23:20:03] <rue_house> they wer hung with 22 guage cat5e wire
[23:20:15] <rue_house> I thnk I took things apart and didn't put them back on
[23:21:26] <katsmeow> you tracvel by ferry sometimes, why not stay around the water , like your mom's place, and just record the bells?
[23:21:32] <rue_shop4> its heated 100gal up 10c
[23:21:49] <rue_shop4> not many people using bells
[23:22:05] <rue_shop4> maybe I should talk to the meuseum
[23:22:07] <katsmeow> maybe not *using* them, but prolly *have* them
[23:22:56] <katsmeow> you cold also try a metal supplier, tellt hem you are a ipe inspector, show them your lil 8oz hammer, and you need to whack a few pipes
[23:23:17] <rue_shop4> :)
[23:23:29] <katsmeow> pipes larger than 8" , with 3/16 walls or thicker, have a nice bel sound
[23:23:39] <katsmeow> bring a cord to hang them by
[23:23:42] <rue_shop4> hmm I have 6 feet of 12" 1/4" wall pipe, and a granry...
[23:24:04] <rue_shop4> ( we were thinking the same thing there)
[23:24:24] <katsmeow> that miht spell the doom of humanity
[23:24:37] <rue_shop4> its ok, I'll make it a mp3
[23:25:52] <rue_shop4> hmm from 15c to 25c in 45 mins
[23:26:06] <rue_shop4> tho
[23:26:46] <rue_shop4> er no
[23:26:48] <rue_shop4> wrong numbers
[23:26:59] <rue_shop4> 15c to 26c in 45 mins
[23:27:00] <rue_shop4> ugh
[23:27:17] <rue_shop4> prettymuch linear
[23:27:27] <katsmeow> 26c doesn't sound hot nuff to heat the house with
[23:27:32] <rue_shop4> no
[23:27:39] <rue_shop4> did yo see the new burner I'm making?
[23:27:45] <katsmeow> no
[23:27:51] <rue_shop4> I'm doing a big rebuild
[23:28:09] <rue_shop4> the metal has come apart too much on the old one, and I have design improvements
[23:28:20] <katsmeow> thing is, if i used pumped water, i wold be cheaper if i just ran the pump as a heat source inside, and didn't build anything else
[23:28:55] <rue_shop4> your place gets colder in the winter, I'v heard you curling up
[23:29:28] <katsmeow> unless i turn on more than one of these lil portable heaters, yeas
[23:29:59] <katsmeow> my feets are way sensitive to the cold
[23:30:05] * rue_shop4 nods
[23:32:47] <rue_shop4> I have years of minutely data of the temps in the hosue and boiler
[23:32:54] <rue_shop4> I wonder how big that database is
[23:32:59] <rue_shop4> sql
[23:33:10] <rue_shop4> 12 sensors
[23:34:13] <rue_shop4> there is an interesting thing where the temp of the tank actaully exceeds the temp of the water going in from the boiler
[23:34:38] <katsmeow> rue, what if you ran a small high pressure boiler off the hot water, use that to boil propane, spin a power steering pump backwards with the pressure, cool the propane with return water, and the steering pump spins a water pump?
[23:35:05] <katsmeow> then all you need to power is a tiny pump to put the propane back into it's boiler feed
[23:35:12] <rue_shop4> the new burner will have a flash coil
[23:35:19] <rue_shop4> fed from the hot water in the tank
[23:35:32] <rue_shop4> 80c from the tank, thru the flash coil
[23:35:44] <rue_shop4> steam engine for electricity
[23:36:17] <rue_shop4> why the steering pump backwadrs?
[23:36:25] <katsmeow> you can make 600f water steam ?
[23:36:27] <rue_shop4> oh, operationally, right
[23:36:45] <rue_shop4> 80c to 100c isn't much
[23:36:47] <rue_shop4> or even 120c
[23:37:01] <rue_shop4> or 200c, its right in the 1800c fire path
[23:37:04] <katsmeow> the seals will lift off if you put high pressure into the normal input, but will seal if you provide pressure into the pressure outlet
[23:37:15] <rue_shop4> like a coffeemaker
[23:37:20] <rue_shop4> check valves
[23:38:00] <rue_shop4> ( I think)
[23:38:30] <katsmeow> i never tried to pressurize a coffmaker
[23:38:34] <rue_shop4> it might need an injector pump
[23:39:00] <rue_shop4> water expands 100x?
[23:39:19] <katsmeow> you better lok at the pressure-temperature chart too
[23:39:35] <rue_shop4> 200psi would do anything
[23:39:57] <katsmeow> but 200psi is a lot of temperature
[23:40:03] <rue_shop4> na, 200c
[23:40:09] <rue_shop4> thats why I know that point
[23:40:23] <katsmeow> 450f
[23:40:53] <katsmeow> at 450f, most freons are making 2x as much pressure
[23:41:39] <rue_shop4> I dont think it wise to have a combustable medium in a firebox, esp pressurized....
[23:41:53] <rue_shop4> not that its at mix, but...
[23:42:30] <rue_shop4> fires almost out...
[23:42:46] <katsmeow> don't put it in the firebox, run the freon boiler off the hot water
[23:44:18] <rue_shop4> but I dont want to cool that
[23:44:28] <rue_shop4> the exhaust is about 230c, I could use that
[23:44:38] <katsmeow> ok
[23:44:54] <rue_shop4> thats something I'd like to recover more
[23:45:03] <katsmeow> boil with the exhaust, and cool the freon with the return water from the house to preheat that water
[23:45:28] <rue_shop4> hmm, I wonder how hot that water comes back
[23:45:52] <rue_shop4> I have years of data :)
[23:46:04] <katsmeow> so look it up already
[23:46:12] <rue_shop4> its not that easy
[23:46:25] <rue_shop4> millions of lines in the sql table
[23:47:37] <rue_shop4> 25M data points I recon
[23:48:15] <katsmeow> and you cannot access it
[23:48:29] <rue_shop4> I can, filtering it is the challange
[23:48:44] <rue_shop4> I have some code I can edit to do basic browsing
[23:48:49] <rue_shop4> its laborious
[23:48:50] * katsmeow hands rue a bucket of sand to filter it thru
[23:49:19] * rue_shop4 tries to work out how to work with the resulting crabs and clams...
[23:51:59] <katsmeow> i ate the shrimp :-)
[23:54:41] <rue_shop4> hmm
[23:55:23] <rue_shop4> what does it mean when I can hear music that dosn't exist?
[23:55:31] <rue_shop4> just ever so faintly
[23:55:40] <rue_shop4> in the background of the universe
[23:55:43] <katsmeow> your brain is bored
[23:56:04] <rue_shop4> I can almost make out the words
[23:58:10] <katsmeow> e=mc^2/1.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001 ?
[23:59:16] <rue_shop4> possibly
[23:59:41] <rue_shop4> ok, boiler is shut down
[23:59:57] <rue_shop4> I'll clean up the ash and dissassemble later
