[01:12:18] <rue_house> hi
[01:12:36] <The_Jester> https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7PtpEbLy8alVW9GQjlzd0hmdVk
[01:21:37] <rue_house> and in the meantime I can type to you
[21:06:13] <Tom_itx> http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Heatsink.jpg
[21:07:12] <zhanx> Tom_itx, what is that for (besides the obvious )
[21:08:10] <Tom_itx> kat wanted something so i drew it for approval before tool goes to metal
[21:08:36] <zhanx> k, brb blanching corn to freeze it
[21:14:43] <Tom_itx> cnc is down but i can still draw pictures
[21:16:17] <Tom_itx> zlog
[21:17:13] <Tom_itx> http://designerthinking.com/images/IMG_3278m.jpg
[21:17:47] <Tom_itx> i need some numbers from her to make it accurate
[21:40:11] <rue_house> well
[21:40:23] <rue_house> the pins are 0.1"
[21:40:41] <rue_house> and I dont ahve a ruler
[21:44:00] <rue_house> the heatsink is 3.7" x 1.4"
[21:45:01] <rue_house> the holes are 0.6" from the edge
[21:45:46] <rue_house> make sure the transisstor centers fall on 0.1" divisions
[21:46:11] <rue_house> you like drafting
[21:46:19] * rue_house makes the mac classic startup sound
[21:46:27] <zhanx> lol
[21:47:00] <rue_house> zhanx, are you holding togethor?
[21:47:11] <zhanx> duct tape and super glue
[21:47:31] <rue_house> thank gosh, I thought you said sugar glue for a sec
[21:48:07] <rue_house> hows the drug prospect?
[21:48:25] <zhanx> good, bad. works
[21:48:28] <rue_house> you ready for good ole canadian pot?
[21:48:33] <zhanx> rather not no
[21:48:48] <rue_house> you dont ahve to smoke it and it dosn't have to smell like pot ya know
[21:49:00] <rue_house> theres processed stuff thats just cookies
[21:49:02] <zhanx> trust me what happened 2 nights ago. I dont think pot would help me
[21:49:09] <rue_house> cant taste any pot to it
[21:49:22] <rue_house> was it pain or freakout?
[21:49:42] <zhanx> cop shot his gun outside my front door with no warning to kill a deer
[21:49:50] <zhanx> so freakout
[21:50:07] <rue_house> PTS would be the wrong situation to be in
[21:50:17] <zhanx> but he didn't kill the deer, i had to
[21:50:23] <rue_house> why the hell do cops shoot deer in the usa?
[21:50:40] <rue_house> well, that was exactly what you didn't need.
[21:50:49] <zhanx> he is wrong for doing it, and shot in a spot that would not kill it.
[21:51:11] <zhanx> so instead of 11:45 pm deer blatting i end the misery
[21:51:28] <rue_house> freaking firing guns in rural areas, had it been hit by a car?
[21:51:49] <zhanx> yea I got an apple tree in my front yard.
[21:52:10] <zhanx> so the doe was crossing the road to get fallen apples
[21:52:16] <rue_house> was the deer hit by a car tho?
[21:52:23] <zhanx> yes
[21:52:33] <zhanx> sorry if i was unclear by yea
[21:52:37] <rue_house> or was the cop defending his life against the vicious animal...
[21:52:44] <rue_house> k
[21:53:08] <zhanx> then shot a hollow point at a deer skull and wondered why it didn't die
[21:53:23] <rue_house> one of our guys had to put down a hit deer, had to use a utility knife (electrician)
[21:53:43] <rue_house> theya re thick enough for that eh? (sorry)
[21:53:56] <zhanx> i used a kitchen knife. cop thought i was "brutal"
[21:54:17] <zhanx> oh yea deer head butt during mating so they have thick front plates
[21:55:23] <rue_house> oh he didn't try to shoot it in the TOP of the head !?
[21:55:34] <rue_house> ok, I'm not helping you get past this
[21:55:42] <rue_house> robots, tell me about robots
[21:55:45] <zhanx> yea, its over
[21:55:51] <zhanx> and my arm needs motors
[21:56:01] <zhanx> and I have had a question for like 5 days now
[21:56:06] <rue_house> ah, what kind (rotary?)
[21:56:12] <rue_house> linear?
[21:57:11] <zhanx> Well I was thinking. to move the rotary axis on the arm. Can I use the plastic "chain" and the gear for it. Like a bike chain to rotate it?
[21:57:22] <zhanx> or does it strech to much?
[21:57:37] <zhanx> sorry from a printer
[21:58:17] <rue_house> oh the synchro belt
[21:58:24] <rue_house> its mini timing belt
[21:58:29] <zhanx> yes thats it
[21:58:38] <rue_house> whats the length of the arm?
[21:58:47] <zhanx> about 4'
[21:59:09] <rue_house> hmm
[21:59:21] <rue_house> how about engine timing belt?
[21:59:31] <rue_house> normal printer stuff cant take THAT much tension
[21:59:51] <zhanx> k, deleted what i wrote how is this then
[21:59:59] <zhanx> I can get lots of bike chains
[22:00:07] <rue_house> there, use that
[22:00:09] <zhanx> but weight is the issue then
[22:00:19] <zhanx> i need bigger motors
[22:00:19] <rue_house> bowden
[22:00:36] <rue_house> bike chain allows you to add reduction as you hit joints
[22:00:56] <zhanx> yep, bowden cable, good idea
[22:01:05] <rue_house> I'm laying with heavy stuff
[22:01:08] <rue_house> playing
[22:01:09] <rue_house> ...
[22:01:40] <rue_house> you would want heavier
[22:01:44] <rue_house> did you see arm6?
[22:01:48] <zhanx> didn't think of using a bowden cable. That will require extra gears but..
[22:01:52] <zhanx> no i have not
[22:02:02] <zhanx> my arm is all aluminuim
[22:02:30] <rue_house> http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/robots/arm6/p1070897.jpg
[22:03:09] <zhanx> top part of arm slides in and out right?
[22:05:50] <zhanx> going through the slide show now
[22:06:45] <rue_house> no
[22:06:49] <rue_house> it rotates
[22:06:51] <rue_house> :)
[22:06:59] <rue_house> http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/robots/arm6/p1070898.jpg
[22:07:36] <zhanx> like i said looking at the slide show of it. You forget, I know your file system
[22:19:58] <rue_house> oh right ,sorry, too much happeneing here
[22:21:05] <zhanx> its ok, I am research for the family thanksgiving dinner game night (long story)
[22:33:23] <Tom_itx> rue_house, how do you know those dimensions are right?
[22:34:01] <rue_house> I'm rue
[22:34:19] <Tom_itx> http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Heatsink.jpg
[22:34:20] <rue_house> I'm probably right, but I could be wrong
[22:34:22] <Tom_itx> kat, random pic
[22:34:38] <katsmeow> i thought you were unable to do it, Tom?
[22:34:42] <Tom_itx> or you just could be rue
[22:34:53] <Tom_itx> does that prevent me from drawing?
[22:35:04] <Tom_itx> or thinking?
[22:35:12] <rue_house> kat!
[22:35:23] <katsmeow> rue!
[22:35:38] <katsmeow> Tom, nope, freel fee :-)
[22:35:45] <rue_house> is your heatsink 3.7" by 1.4"?
[22:36:42] * katsmeow wonders to whom rue is speaking
[22:36:47] <rue_house> you kat
[22:36:51] <rue_house> its your heatsink
[22:37:01] <rue_house> is it 3.7" by 1.4"?
[22:37:39] <katsmeow> i gave dimensions yesterday, still have no working cailpers down here, all bateries dead, mechainical one is upstairs
[22:39:26] <Tom_itx> rue_house, i used metric dimensions which cad converted so i'm not sure
[22:40:02] <rue_house> kat, I missed your measureents yesterday, what were they gain?
[22:42:11] <katsmeow> 10cm long, 4cm wide, 2cm mount face to ends of fins
[22:47:00] <rue_house> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVEf7PfuKxo
[22:47:10] <rue_house> I cant stop calling him an idiot... arg
[22:47:48] <rue_house> ARG
[22:48:50] <katsmeow> can you stop watching it?
[22:49:42] <rue_house> ARG
[22:49:48] <Tom_itx> http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Heatsink1.jpg
[22:50:59] <rue_house> maybe the transistor pins I used to measure were bent
[22:51:24] <katsmeow> i have a nice way to mount 32 transistors on 2 sinks with only 3 bolts, but it won't fit the space
[22:52:21] <katsmeow> since Tom cannot cad/cam them, i figured a similar way to mount the 16 on one sink, with just a few bolts
[22:53:26] <rue_house> but he seemed to have said he's re-assembling hte computer and can later
[22:54:43] <Tom_itx> i need edge to first hole number, distance between rows and distance between row holes
[22:55:22] <Tom_itx> btw, i drew only one hole there :)
[22:55:54] <katsmeow> Tom, prolly best to spread them for equal separation the length of the sink, and the transistors touching tabs across-wise
[22:56:35] <Tom_itx> but i don't have any to measure
[22:58:33] <Tom_itx> rows are .25" apart with .49" between holes in each row
[22:59:06] <rue_house> multipls of 0.1" apart
[22:59:11] <rue_house> so they fit on a pcb
[22:59:51] <Tom_itx> .49 seems to agree with that
[23:00:02] <Tom_itx> err maybe not
[23:00:23] <Tom_itx> .4 may be too close
[23:00:29] <Tom_itx> .5 may be too far apart to fit
[23:01:11] <katsmeow> i dunno what to say atm, with no working calipers
[23:06:05] <katsmeow> missing my .100 ruler too
[23:07:10] <rue_house> I'll design you one you can just print!
[23:07:17] <rue_house> oh wait, you dont have a 3d printer...
[23:08:10] <katsmeow> haveto be .500 center to center on the holes, the length of the sinks, Tom
[23:08:30] <rue_house> nobody laughed at my jike
[23:08:31] <Tom_itx> http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Heatsink2.jpg
[23:08:48] <katsmeow> .200 apart across the sink
[23:08:52] <Tom_itx> ok
[23:09:33] <Tom_itx> that's all fixed
[23:12:26] <katsmeow> Tom, at .49 spacing, the end transistors will mismatch the pcb holes by .035 at each end
[23:13:02] <Tom_itx> .219 from the side .5 apart .2 apart rows
[23:13:36] <katsmeow> the http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Heatsink2.jpg has otehr numbers, which what i was going by
[23:13:49] <Tom_itx> i move them since that
[23:13:53] <katsmeow> ah
[23:14:04] <Tom_itx> the block dimensions are the same
[23:15:01] <katsmeow> dinner is getting cold, the nukebox should have been done an hr ago
[23:21:05] <Tom_itx> sleep. later...
[23:21:43] <katsmeow> rice teriyaki, butter, milk, perfect
[23:23:36] <rue_house> almost EVERY webpage I have to turn off javascript to see the page content!
[23:24:06] <rue_house> http://www.instructables.com/id/Quick-and-Easy-tube-or-wire-bender/step4/Start-Bending/
[23:24:09] <rue_house> this is a great jig
[23:25:57] <rue_house> I like buying tools, but man, there are a lot of neat suggestions for making some]
