[00:25:04] <rue_shop3> it looks like racoons are smart animals, I wonder how they do as pets
[00:26:25] <katsmeow> skittish and bite-y
[00:38:27] <rue_shop3> well, I recon I should change the caps on this motherboard...
[00:38:35] <rue_shop3> seeing as the new drive is working
[00:38:45] <rue_shop3> put a new power supply in the cnc controller
[01:02:06] <katsmeow> donald trump is now 70 yrs old
[01:08:26] <rue_shop3> EVERY cap was within .05" of a 1 thou differential signal trace set
[01:08:36] <rue_shop3> but I did it!
[01:08:43] <rue_shop3> and ___----____ it works!
[01:09:37] <rue_shop3> today I smashed apart a 5V power adapter to later find it didn't work cause the connector was shorted
[01:09:40] <rue_shop3> :(
[01:11:01] <katsmeow> "smashed apart" ?? but you have a bandsaw now!
[01:11:38] <katsmeow> you are supposed to cut .050 into each side and pop the case off
[01:12:28] <rue_shop3> was running out of temper, it was the 5th time resoldering it togethor
[01:12:47] <katsmeow> o
[01:13:05] <rue_shop3> the connector itself was reduced to a thickness of about .015" on the anvil after I found out it was what was at fault
[01:13:39] <rue_shop3> cause, I wouldn't want anyone else acidently using it
[01:13:42] <katsmeow> well, at .015 it prolly was shorted
[01:13:59] <rue_shop3> amazingly thin metal
[01:15:07] <katsmeow> i felt the same way about that Craftsman chainsaw, to besure it was deleted from my index of What I Have , i set it afire and let it's magnesium aluminum self burn all day
[01:16:20] <katsmeow> i had spent more time working on it than using it, more money on it in the shop than it cost to buy it
[01:16:35] * rue_shop3 carefully takes apart one of the failed caps
[01:16:40] <katsmeow> and you know about the pcb driller
[01:21:33] <rue_shop3> huh, nothing internally visible to indicate it was failing
[01:21:46] <rue_shop3> just the buldged top and lots of plate resistance
[01:22:08] <katsmeow> it was dry?
[01:22:12] <rue_shop3> no
[01:22:17] <rue_shop3> lots of smelly wet in there
[01:23:05] <rue_shop3> the new caps havn't exploded yet, so they must be in the right way
[01:23:21] <rue_shop3> some of them had damn near no capacitance left
[01:24:06] <katsmeow> micro fractures in the plates near the leads?
[01:24:21] <rue_shop3> I saw one with lead connection failure
[01:24:23] <rue_shop3> not this one
[01:24:48] * katsmeow is all out of WAGs
[01:33:02] <katsmeow> i would set a calendar to brag about my puters being 20 yrs old by 2020, but my vic20 will be almost 40 yrs old then
[01:42:35] <katsmeow> btw, i checked out baking tins today, they would make fine shallow drawers
[02:27:04] <rue_shop3> I actaully built wooden storage boxes
[02:27:25] <rue_shop3> about 6"x10" x 4" deep
[02:27:37] <rue_shop3> they just hold up better
[02:30:58] <katsmeow> than metal baking tins?
[02:48:07] <rue_shop3> than plastic bins
[02:48:11] <rue_shop3> kat, its 2:20am
[02:48:22] <katsmeow> yeas
[02:48:47] <rue_shop3> you usually all it quits by midnight ... ?
[02:49:00] * rue_shop3 offers kat a watt
[02:49:07] <rue_shop3> are you feeling energetic?
[02:49:31] <katsmeow> i am all outa tune
[02:50:18] <rue_shop3> 1200ms * 440Hz
[02:51:30] <rue_shop3> would it help if I mixed in some 880Hz?
[02:51:45] <rue_shop3> or maybe just a bit of sideband either way?
[02:52:11] <katsmeow> i dunno
[02:52:42] <rue_shop3> oh ! hahaha
[02:52:49] <rue_shop3> I know why all the saved pages look old!
[02:52:58] <rue_shop3> they are! they are from when I mirrored the hard drive!
[02:53:30] <rue_shop3> nice to have a hard drive that isn't losing sectors
[02:53:52] <katsmeow> saving them on an old hdd makes them look old??
[02:54:18] <rue_shop3> I made a copy of the OS drive in this machine quite a while ago, when I knew the drive in it was failing
[02:54:28] <rue_shop3> but it was a lot of trouble to change the drive and the old one wasn't dead
[02:54:35] <rue_shop3> so I just left it on the bench
[02:54:57] <rue_shop3> but when I took the computer to the faire I got the opportunity to change the drive when it came back
[02:55:09] <rue_shop3> and while doing that I noticed the machine also had 3 bad caps
[02:55:18] <rue_shop3> so its got a new drive and 3 new caps
[02:55:32] <rue_shop3> well, the caps are experienced
[02:55:47] <katsmeow> what free software are you using now to clone windoze drives?
[02:55:59] <rue_shop3> I dont clone windows drives
[02:56:16] <rue_shop3> windows locks itself to a hard drive and wont clone
[02:56:30] <rue_shop3> and I stopped using widnows, ... prettymuch back in 2000
[02:56:46] <katsmeow> i coned many win95 boot drives
[02:56:52] <rue_shop3> dear me, I should start up that old machine and see if the drive is still ok
[02:56:57] <katsmeow> iirc, i cloned winxp boots too
[02:57:33] <katsmeow> that's how i found out any winxp install code worked on any install disc
[03:17:45] <katsmeow> rue?
[03:26:28] <katsmeow> rue?
[03:58:26] <rue_shop3> sorry, playign with cnc
[03:59:45] <katsmeow> want music?
[04:25:41] <rue_house> heh
[04:25:46] <rue_house> got a power supply for hte motor
[04:26:04] <rue_house> got the controller turning the motor on and off
[04:27:36] <rue_house> did some squares in a peice of MDF
[04:27:41] <rue_house> it wasn't happy about it
[04:27:59] <rue_house> but its closer

[23:32:42] <katsmeow> Tom, the free version can do cloning? image files cannot be booted from, i'd prefer to swap in the good drive and be back up and running
[23:33:22] <katsmeow> i am looking at http://www.backup-utility.com/features/disk-clone.html , but of course they will say only the good things about their software
[23:37:33] <rue_house> moon

[23:42:52] <katsmeow> Tom, did yu need Windows AIK/ADK is short for Windows Automated Installation Kit ? because i doubt M$ will let me have it for winxp now
[23:43:16] <zhanx> Every single drug they gave me was not fda approved for pstd
[23:43:22] <rue_house> __m00n__, wake up you ninny

[23:55:10] <zhanx> Them messing with my medication could have ruined my family
[23:56:14] <katsmeow> talked to a guy at the atore the otehr day, i noticed his new lower leg was all borked, they did the amputation wrong, built the leg wrong, and no one will fix either, he said the stump breaks open every other month
[23:57:13] <katsmeow> the doc who did the surgery died, so he cannot sue
[23:58:05] <katsmeow> the odds of a botched repair are high, and no otehr doc wants to be sued for the first doc's borkage
[23:59:14] <zhanx> Very hih
[23:59:18] <zhanx> High
[23:59:33] <zhanx> They see that as a screwed and sued if they do it
