[03:10:37] <rue_shop5> PILE, right, about that, no room left
[19:45:21] <Tom_itx> what are you taking to the faire?
[19:47:58] <rue_shop5> tilt and pan mirror , arm5, the reprap
[19:48:21] <Tom_itx> :( no cnc?
[19:48:21] <rue_shop5> maybe arm 7/8/or 9 with some kinda marble gig
[19:48:34] <rue_shop5> there isn't gonna be enough room
[19:48:55] <Tom_itx> you show up with junk, they'll give you more room
[19:49:03] <rue_shop5> hah
[19:49:21] <Tom_itx> you need a shop on wheels
[19:49:40] <rue_shop5> hell no
[19:50:00] <rue_shop5> I need to knuckle down on my projects and get some thing done
[19:50:13] <Tom_itx> me too
[19:50:25] <Tom_itx> i'd like to get thru this prismatic machining book
[19:50:31] <Tom_itx> during the summer
[19:50:48] <Tom_itx> no classes this summer but i have the books
[19:51:11] <Tom_itx> along with surface machining and drafting books
[19:51:29] <Tom_itx> that gets into the 5 axis stuff
[19:51:29] <rue_shop5> th DW660 will work great on 24vdc
[19:51:44] <Tom_itx> is that a driver?
[19:51:52] <Tom_itx> 48 works good on my steppers
[19:52:14] <Tom_itx> the drivers would go higher but i didn't have a bigger supply
[19:53:05] <rue_shop5> http://www.factoryauthorizedoutlet.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/400x/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/D/W/DW660.jpg
[19:53:20] <rue_shop5> at 120vac its too fast, but at 24vdc its fine
[19:53:41] <Tom_itx> do you have any legacy parport pci cards?
[19:53:45] <Tom_itx> with jumpers
[19:54:02] <Tom_itx> not sure the pci ones came with jumpers
[19:54:21] <rue_shop5> one Gcode interpreter isn't gonna have any advantage over another as long as I have nothing to generate gcode
[19:55:09] <Tom_itx> that hdd fix was kindof a challenge dealing with old hardware vs new
[19:55:19] <Tom_itx> it's working good now though
[19:55:28] <Tom_itx> with a spare hdd in it for backup
[19:55:45] <rue_shop5> good show
[19:56:27] <Tom_itx> had to juggle the drives so the non jumper one would work with the cables i had
[19:56:51] <rue_shop5> a 2.5"?
[19:56:51] <Tom_itx> never really figured out the 2.5hdd jumper thing although i did try a couple positions
[19:57:08] <rue_shop5> what was the model?
[19:57:28] <Tom_itx> i don't recall now
[19:57:32] <Tom_itx> it was a new WD
[19:57:37] <Tom_itx> smaller
[19:57:45] <Tom_itx> big by the old standards though
[19:58:00] <rue_shop5> the pins are labeled A B C D
[19:58:05] <Tom_itx> yeah
[19:58:06] <rue_shop5> DB is cable select
[19:58:10] <Tom_itx> right
[19:58:18] <Tom_itx> i wanted to either master or slave it
[19:58:21] <rue_shop5> nothing is master
[19:58:25] <Tom_itx> but it's all good now
[19:58:28] <rue_shop5> slave is AB
[19:58:41] <rue_shop5> http://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjFhbfu-O7MAhVC7GMKHQmMAAQQFggbMAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.wdc.com%2Fwdproducts%2Flibrary%2Fother%2F2579-001037.pdf&usg=AFQjCNEEDLcqG5HludV2z4HOB77DBJW2yw&bvm=bv.122448493,d.cGc
[19:58:42] <Tom_itx> i had one that i could master w slave connected
[19:59:05] <Tom_itx> but it was a 3.5" drive
[19:59:40] <rue_shop5> hahah, and if you jamb a jumper between C and B is does a reduced power spinup
[20:00:03] <Tom_itx> that would be diagonal jumper
[20:00:09] <rue_shop5> imperial jumper crossways, hahaha
[20:00:57] <rue_shop5> I was always surprised how easy it is to find jumper settings for even oddball drives
[20:01:35] <Tom_itx> is that page for 2.5?
[20:01:58] <rue_shop5> both
[20:02:38] <rue_shop5> and scsi
[20:05:27] <Tom_itx> ahh.. AB is slave
[20:05:40] <Tom_itx> none is master
[20:05:50] <Tom_itx> BD is cs
[20:07:35] <Tom_itx> i tried adding an old drive to my new pc to read usb and it drew too much power from the psu :)
[20:07:54] <Tom_itx> i had a drive supply walwart i wound up using
[20:08:48] <rue_shop5> hmm, the 2A chinese supply I hvae is a bit close for running that router
[20:09:35] <Tom_itx> i dunno how big this psu is, it came with the box so it's probably small
[20:10:31] <Tom_itx> dunno if i can get a mini atx psu in the >500w range that will fit
[20:10:57] <Tom_itx> i was looking at some a while back so i could get a graphic card for it
[20:11:11] <Tom_itx> settled for a really cheap one so i can just get dual monitors
[20:11:48] <Tom_itx> i didn't know they disable the MB video when you install a card nowdays
[20:19:12] <Tom_itx> i wonder if other brand 2.5 use that same jumper scheme
[20:33:26] <rue_shop5> its possable
[20:33:46] <rue_shop5> I'd ust google the part number with the word jumpers, almost alawys works first try
[20:34:18] <Tom_itx> yeah
[20:34:25] <Tom_itx> more a curiosity now
[22:53:50] <rue_shop5> kat did you make a holder for the stinger for holding it between doing welds (short stops)
[22:56:25] <katsmeow> stinger?
[22:56:59] <katsmeow> rod?
[22:57:03] <katsmeow> no
[22:58:02] <katsmeow> the shank of the rod is insulated, only the tip is hot, if the tip isn't touching, it cannot spark
[22:59:26] * katsmeow set up the nukebox with a charge of pizza and coded instructions on how to handle it
[23:20:19] <rue_shop5> so you dont have a special place to put down the torch to adjust work
[23:21:24] <katsmeow> not unless i am set up to do a load of work in one place, then i might have a piece of steel to keep the tip of the rod up, or a piece of DRY wood
[23:22:00] <katsmeow> i often have a vise grip i can hang the cable over, let the rod dangle
[23:23:12] <katsmeow> i have a hanger spot for two most used grinders (one grinding wheel, one brush), i have a wire hook there to hang on
[23:40:57] <rue_shop5> arg, I need two big washers and my only option is to make them
[23:41:01] <rue_shop5> and I'm exhausted
[23:44:04] <katsmeow> aren't yu glad you have the tools and knowhow to make them?
[23:47:11] <rue_shop5> na, I wish the store was open and I could go get them
[23:47:29] <rue_shop5> I have to mod them after, so its not just a matter of having washers
[23:47:58] <rue_shop5> its part of a wheel drive spacer - transfer peice for the robot lawn mower
[23:48:42] <rue_shop5> I have two peices of suitable metal
[23:48:58] <rue_shop5> one it hot water tank, which I need to straighten, then deal with the glass
[23:49:16] <rue_shop5> the other is a peice of plate in the back or a motor disconnect switch
[23:49:38] <rue_shop5> so I'd have to tear the switch down, then cut a chunk and sandblast the hell out of it
[23:50:38] <katsmeow> can't whack a piece outa cut-n-nut ?
[23:58:20] <rue_shop5> it has to be 1/8" steel plate
[23:58:28] <rue_shop5> which I'm otherwise completely out of
