Back
[00:00:35] * rue_house hangs led light strips in his rom
[00:00:47] <katsmeow> o that would be neat!
[00:01:02] <katsmeow> programmable lites in the eproms!
[00:01:31] <rue_house> hehe
[00:01:40] <rue_house> oops
[00:01:43] <rue_house> where did my o go
[00:02:16] <katsmeow> xhanx tok it
[00:02:23] <katsmeow> tok mine to !
[00:03:34] <katsmeow> 8 hrs ago i started a dl with an eta of 3hrs, it has only 1.5hrs to go now
[00:06:47] <rue_house> geez, this stove does a crap job of heating up food if you dont turn it on
[00:07:39] <katsmeow> how do you turn on the food?
[00:08:50] <katsmeow> zhanx, quick while there is still snow on the ground, tie a white pig to skis, call it "snow boar snow boarding"
[00:08:53] <rue_house> well, first I take my shirt off
[00:09:17] <zhanx> Wow came back to that
[00:09:46] <zhanx> Really rue putting a shirt on might be better
[00:13:35] <katsmeow> so i got that motor with a multigroove pulley on it, how can i spec another pulley and belt for it?
[00:22:07] <zhanx> Rope measure belt lenth. Pulley is a shaft size and rpm you want
[00:22:36] <katsmeow> it's a vvvvvvv flat belt
[00:22:41] <rue_house> yea, ok, that led strip just doubled the light in the room
[00:23:16] <rue_house> and white light, is SWEET
[00:24:53] <katsmeow> and dimmable, and puter controllable!
[00:24:58] <katsmeow> happy midnite!
[00:36:46] * katsmeow imagines someone not knowing abot them, and they change color, and the red follows alongside as someone walks the hall
[00:40:01] <rue_house> well, the led strips worked better in the hall for sure
[00:40:31] <katsmeow> how did you hide the individual leds so they aren't glaring in your eyes?
[00:40:43] <rue_house> I didn't
[00:40:52] <rue_house> there are so many that I dont mind
[00:41:10] <rue_house> better than two glaring lightbulbs at 4x the intensity
[00:41:19] * katsmeow nods
[00:41:42] <rue_house> and they are spot lights, so they only light up two circles on the floor
[00:41:59] <katsmeow> you know that thin tiny mobile home rain gutter? how about that stuff as a light gutter aimed up or down?
[00:42:05] <rue_house> spot lights are like that, you can add as many as you want and all you sill see are spots
[00:42:29] <rue_house> I'll see
[00:42:37] <rue_house> this is still all experimenteal
[00:42:44] * katsmeow nods
[00:43:16] <rue_house> the hall worked, but its narrow with white walls
[00:43:33] <rue_house> my room is square and has lots of non-white going on
[00:43:40] <katsmeow> then downshooting against the walls is prolly best?
[00:44:06] <rue_house> dont trust the glue
[00:44:13] <rue_house> putting them on face of trim
[00:44:22] <rue_house> less normal force ont eh tape
[00:44:44] <katsmeow> umm,, i didn't say glue, i said rain gutter
[00:45:02] <katsmeow> it's not like house gutter it's only 2" wide at the most
[00:45:13] <katsmeow> use screws
[01:01:37] <rue_house> I wonder why the price of a passport went up so much
[01:01:49] <rue_house> I wonder if they dont want people to leave ever
[01:04:19] <katsmeow> they figure if you can drive across the boarder, you're rich, so screw you
[01:05:48] <rue_house> but I live like a stons throw away from it
[01:06:11] <katsmeow> i didn't saw it made sense
[01:06:16] <rue_house> ston: light stone, easy to throw far
[01:07:24] <katsmeow> so how much wattage do you have in hallway leds now?
[01:07:48] <katsmeow> like per foot
[01:08:10] <rue_house> hmm, its, iirc 28W
[01:08:16] <rue_house> and its 15m of strip
[01:08:27] <katsmeow> "we don't walk on feet here, we use meters"
[01:08:45] <rue_house> .57w/foot
[01:09:00] <katsmeow> 40ft hallway?
[01:09:02] <rue_house> resistor ballasted strips
[01:09:26] <rue_house> about... 50/2)-3
[01:09:33] <rue_house> 22
[01:09:42] <katsmeow> o
[01:10:08] <rue_house> for large values of 49.21
[01:10:28] <katsmeow> so 1w/ft on a dimmer for non-white walls?
[01:10:48] * rue_house looks around the room
[01:10:55] <rue_house> maybe
[01:11:12] <rue_house> leds have that thnig where the direction of the light is different
[01:11:26] <rue_house> makes them not compare well to other lights
[01:12:02] <katsmeow> i know
[01:13:13] <katsmeow> i am thinking a chair rail like with wainscoating, with downwards leds in it, and a picture hanging rail with upwards leds in it
[01:13:40] <katsmeow> so there's 4 strips, and none of them directly visable
[01:14:53] <rue_house> did you see my livingroom lights?
[01:15:10] <katsmeow> no
[01:16:32] <rue_house> ok ask me to post tommorow
[01:16:39] <rue_house> damnit its 11pm again
[01:17:14] <katsmeow> rue, can you post the pic tomrrow?
[01:17:51] <rue_house> best to ask me tommorow
[01:18:06] <rue_house> the 8 hours I spend at work completely scrambles my brain
[01:18:08] <katsmeow> your tommor ow mine?
[01:18:10] <rue_house> 8.5
[01:18:19] <katsmeow> it's tuesday here
[01:18:36] <rue_house> can you give me any lottery numbers?
[01:18:52] <katsmeow> i didn't get any
[01:18:59] <rue_house> ah
[01:19:10] <rue_house> only a 2 hr diff anyhow
[01:19:18] <rue_house> I cant get a ticket 2 hours before the draw
[01:19:21] <rue_house> I dont think
[01:19:39] <katsmeow> <cough>
[01:20:24] <rue_house> hmm, if it took 4 days to drive there, and I moved ahead 2 hours, I'd be traveling ahead 1/2hr per day
[01:20:38] <katsmeow> don't do dat
[01:20:47] <rue_house> I get 3 weeks off
[01:21:00] <rue_house> 3 weeks to sit at home and wonder what I could be doing
[01:21:11] <katsmeow> with pay?
[01:21:14] <rue_house> yea
[01:21:19] <katsmeow> kool
[01:21:29] <rue_house> I could be getting welding lessons from kat!
[01:22:12] <katsmeow> i have no county water, the house is full of garbage, there's no place to park your truck, no flush toilet that works, etc etc
[01:22:13] <rue_house> 14-8... for 6 days atleast!
[01:22:46] * rue_house puts kat into a cold sweat
[01:23:27] <katsmeow> it is seriously not visitor-friendly
[01:24:18] <rue_house> you have made that claer
[01:24:28] <katsmeow> i'm sorry
[01:24:35] <rue_house> but I'v already been to australlia
[01:25:05] <rue_house> it wouldn't work anyhow, I could never travel that far and not get lost
[01:25:32] <rue_house> and I'm told there is a 20% chance my truck would not survive
[01:26:05] <katsmeow> that would blow your budget, and shool already did that this yr
[01:26:12] <rue_house> camping in it across the states for 4 days would be interesting
[01:26:21] <rue_house> 2800km
[01:26:27] <rue_house> 300km/tank
[01:26:42] <rue_house> 9 tanks of fuel
[01:26:48] <rue_house> at 78L/tank
[01:27:04] <katsmeow> ~$2.30/gal
[01:27:05] <rue_house> 630L at $1.10/L
[01:27:33] <rue_house> $700 at canadian rates
[01:27:56] <rue_house> 166 gal

[01:29:14] <rue_house> $571
[01:29:26] <rue_house> so about $600 in fuel
[01:30:06] <rue_house> thats like 1.5 oil changes for my truck
[01:30:14] <katsmeow> no way
[01:30:15] <rue_house> (2400km)
[01:30:19] <katsmeow> oh
[01:30:22] <rue_house> er 2800
[01:31:49] <katsmeow> my wrist is tweaking
[01:32:02] <rue_house> the thought of a plane down and buy a scrap vehicle
[01:32:12] <rue_house> insurance would prolly be a bitch
[01:32:36] <rue_house> ok, I need to sleep
[01:32:56] <rue_house> I have half a job not scheduled for tommorow and I need to be awake for it!
[01:33:24] <rue_house> might get wed off at this rate

[23:43:14] <rue_house> I'm in!
[23:44:08] <katsmeow> you are!?
[23:44:17] <katsmeow> http://DesignerThinking.com/images/DSCF7053m.jpg <<== why i gotta do driveway work , the driveway is real sparkley by flashlite now
[23:44:53] <katsmeow> like diamonds, or hordes of spider eye reflections
[23:47:06] <katsmeow> ...
[23:47:26] <rue_house> I was getting mroe metal from the scrap pile
[23:47:59] <katsmeow> o
[23:48:10] <rue_house> awe, what pinched it?
[23:48:31] <katsmeow> see the brass piece to the right of the handle?
[23:48:41] <rue_house> wasn't that part of the door?
[23:48:45] <katsmeow> the brass piece is the handle that broke off the other side
[23:48:52] <rue_house> can you take it bck for a refund? :)
[23:49:05] <katsmeow> no, the whole door was free
[23:49:16] <rue_house> I hope you didn't have awesome plans for it
[23:49:21] <katsmeow> i did
[23:49:26] <rue_house> or, your plans only involved the frame
[23:49:45] <rue_house> ? :S
[23:49:55] <katsmeow> nope, in fact, i have the glass from the reverse door to that one, i wanted the glass
[23:50:03] <rue_house> :(
[23:50:30] <rue_house> well, it WAS tempered
[23:50:48] <rue_house> not sure how well tho, those shards by the handle look scarry
[23:51:20] <rue_house> so the handle nonally had the nerve to break off, but to shatter the glass too
[23:51:51] <katsmeow> broke off a screw, a screw post, and the shaft thru the latch mechanism
[23:52:03] <katsmeow> then slid over and the glass landed on it
[23:52:13] <rue_house> geez, how many tonnes of stuff were on top of it!?
[23:52:18] <katsmeow> still sitting up, didn't even fall over
[23:52:33] <katsmeow> about 400 lbs of other glass doors ;-)
[23:52:51] * rue_house nods and dosn't feel so bad
[23:53:17] <katsmeow> it was a 6ft x 2.5 ft piece of glass
[23:53:26] <katsmeow> oh well
[23:53:52] <katsmeow> if i had not broke it, it would have been busted up in a trash bin
[23:54:03] <rue_house> I got two street sign posts, two bedframes, and a bunch of pipe
[23:54:07] <rue_house> two bike wheels
[23:54:14] <rue_house> and a pile of nuts/bolts/washers
[23:54:41] <rue_house> oh and some pooched bolt cutters I think I can brink back
[23:55:04] <katsmeow> bedframes weld up nicely, cut ok with abrasive discs, getting the paint off them first can be a pain
[23:55:20] <rue_house> dont drill worth sh**
[23:55:33] <katsmeow> cutting torch will poke holes in it
[23:55:34] <rue_house> just hardened enough
[23:56:00] <rue_house> yea... /me looks at the vaccant spot for 2 welding tanks by the shop...
[23:56:28] <katsmeow> i use propane/oxy
[23:56:54] <katsmeow> propane is less explosive than acetylene, and no black crap floatng int he air while adjusting
[23:59:22] <rue_house> yea
[23:59:35] <rue_house> I need an oxy and a shiled gas
