[02:00:27] <rue_shop3> aha, I can inject 0-5V into the test points with the amp pulled
[02:00:45] <^kat^-afk> pervert
[02:01:45] <rue_shop3> I dont want to have to use the digital control yet
[02:08:02] <^kat^-afk> i wonder how fast this table can move :
http://mat2.materialicious.com/images/octopus-table-by-jesse-shaw-m.jpg
[02:09:22] <rue_shop3> it looks skittish dosn't it?
[02:09:47] <rue_shop3> I can just hear that glass swirrling around on the floor as the legs rapidly dissapear out from under it
[02:11:47] <^kat^-afk> can you imagine how pets would react?
[02:12:01] <^kat^-afk> or a stoned human?
[02:12:18] <^kat^-afk> "umm, why is the furniture walking around?"
[02:14:01] <rue_shop3> hehe
[02:14:13] <rue_shop3> Vo, GND, S4
[02:14:22] <rue_shop3> WTF is s4? and why is it grounded?
[02:14:41] <^kat^-afk> i dunno, i can never get an accurate schematic from you
[02:14:59] <rue_shop3> so many parts of this project went obsolete as I was doing it
[02:15:24] <rue_shop3> the modules I have infront of me right now are just marginally compatible
[02:15:41] <rue_shop3> compatible by technicallity
[02:16:08] <^kat^-afk> i think my car is incompatable with the battery in it, i had a lot of problems with the car and it's battery today, had to buy a new one just to be sure i'd get home,,,, didn't install it, disconnected the curent one, see if it goes dead while disconnected from the car
[02:16:19] <^kat^-afk> i know it dies fast while conencted, but that doesn't mean the batery is bad, if the car is draining power from it
[02:16:35] <rue_shop3> how do you install a car?
[02:17:00] <rue_shop3> well you got a meter, whats the leakage current?
[02:17:08] <^kat^-afk> jack up the batery, move the car out from under it
[02:17:23] * rue_shop3 chuckles
[02:17:46] <^kat^-afk> it dies fast, so it's ver 10 amps, and my meters go only 10 amps, and wasn't going to make new test equipment just yet
[02:18:04] <rue_shop3> you know the unique engines of the planet express space ship move the universe, not the ship?
[02:18:19] <rue_shop3> fast = 15 mins?
[02:18:29] <^kat^-afk> i've heard that, but don't have the video
[02:18:53] <^kat^-afk> nearly didn't restart after 30 mn in Home Depot today
[02:18:59] <rue_shop3> 10A, wtf eats 10A, a stuck wiper motor? a cig lighter?, the long wires that been chewed raw by the dildo?
[02:19:01] <rue_shop3> er, dillo
[02:19:29] <^kat^-afk> again, nearly didn't restart in the 20 minutes to look at bins and buy a new battery at Walmart
[02:19:37] <rue_shop3> ...armodollo...
[02:19:40] <rue_shop3> dillo... arg
[02:19:42] <^kat^-afk> possum
[02:19:43] <^kat^-afk> or mice
[02:19:57] <rue_shop3> ugh, possum, wrong freaking species
[02:20:17] <rue_shop3> whats the difference between an armaillo and a possum?
[02:20:22] <^kat^-afk> i disonnected that battery as soon as i got home, and meaured it at 12.68v, will check again tomorrow and maybe Monday
[02:20:31] <^kat^-afk> one has armor
[02:20:49] <^kat^-afk> one curls into a ball when threatened, the other plays dead
[02:21:03] <rue_shop3> hmm, I think I have a database error
[02:21:15] <rue_shop3> is one furry?
[02:21:16] <^kat^-afk> playing dead never worked well for any possums i was after with the rifle
[02:21:22] <^kat^-afk> possum is furry
[02:21:29] <rue_shop3> k, there was an error
[02:21:33] <^kat^-afk> coarse thin stinky oily fur
[02:21:36] <rue_shop3> I think its fixed
[02:22:14] <^kat^-afk> screaming obsenities at me fromt he top of a pine tree doesn't work well for squirrels either
[02:22:49] <^kat^-afk> i built my house for me, not for them
[02:22:56] <rue_shop3> do you hear the owl giving them lectures at night?
[02:23:11] <^kat^-afk> have not seen any owls out here iin many years
[02:23:21] <^kat^-afk> or heard them
[02:23:30] <^kat^-afk> lack of the right trees, afaik
[02:24:48] <^kat^-afk> if only one leg of that table was a robotic leg, and it periodically stretched it, moved it around
[02:25:14] <^kat^-afk> guest stares at it
[02:25:23] <^kat^-afk> rue explains it must have had a cramp
[02:25:29] <^kat^-afk> guest freaks
[02:25:51] <rue_shop3> 24V -> 5V
[02:25:55] <rue_shop3> ~/5
[02:25:57] <^kat^-afk> 2am here
[02:26:39] <rue_shop3> ok, at some point I decided the general power would be 12V
[02:26:47] <rue_shop3> so now I need a 12V bus
[02:27:06] <^kat^-afk> buss
[02:27:18] <^kat^-afk> i should goto bed
[02:27:32] <rue_shop3> but the power amp generates its own
[02:28:03] <rue_shop3> but the current sense needs 5V
[02:28:14] <rue_shop3> which it uses to generate 9V
[02:28:44] <rue_shop3> which nobody is the supplier of
[02:29:11] * ^kat^-afk hands rue a 9v battery
[02:29:26] * ^kat^-afk wavers gnites
[02:29:38] <rue_shop3> ni
[02:29:49] <rue_shop3> (a shrubbery)
[21:09:04] <zhanx> Rue back on planning my 5' bi-ped
[21:40:02] <zhanx> Hey kat
[21:40:27] <katsmeow> hey zhanx
[21:40:36] <katsmeow> howze things?
[21:40:51] <zhanx> Actually good
[21:40:59] <katsmeow> :-)
[21:41:07] <zhanx> About time too
[21:41:18] <zhanx> Oh rail gun on hold for now
[21:41:31] <katsmeow> oh, ok
[21:41:33] <zhanx> Canoe, robot then rail gun
[21:41:50] <katsmeow> another robot? did rue show you that table?
[21:42:07] <zhanx> Nope but remember my 5' biped?
[21:42:22] <zhanx> Tis back on the table
[21:42:27] <katsmeow> no
[21:42:43] <zhanx> Started it 3 years ago
[21:43:05] <katsmeow> taking your time, eh?
[21:43:46] <katsmeow> i'd show you my finger, but prolly too detailed to be useful
[21:44:22] <zhanx> Had to learn a bunch more
[21:44:55] <zhanx> Right now yes, but I am looking at artificial limbs as reference now
[21:45:29] <katsmeow> [01:43] <^kat^-afk> i wonder how fast this table can move :
http://mat2.materialicious.com/images/octopus-table-by-jesse-shaw-m.jpg
[21:45:29] <katsmeow> [01:44] <rue_shop3> it looks skittish dosn't it?
[21:46:04] <zhanx> Looks cool and you can make it move
[21:46:27] <zhanx> Hexapod math is out there now free for ik
[21:46:48] <katsmeow> that's 16 legs
[21:47:09] <katsmeow> the 8 outer, and 8 more small ones at the core
[21:47:33] <zhanx> 6 or its the wrong pic
[21:47:38] <katsmeow> anyhow, i imagined it moving a leg t stretch ut a cramp and scaring the humans
[21:47:45] <zhanx> Or I can't count now
[21:47:54] <katsmeow> he called it an octopus, that's 8?
[21:48:19] <zhanx> 8 is octo, but that is hex
[21:48:30] <katsmeow> oh
[21:48:51] <zhanx> You made me look twice
[21:49:10] <katsmeow> i'd be looking again too, but FF is fried and locked up
[21:49:26] <zhanx> It's 6 on 6
[21:49:39] <zhanx> But octopus style
[21:50:53] <katsmeow> ok
[21:52:57] <katsmeow> FF not responding
[21:53:07] <katsmeow> as if i cannot figure that out
[21:53:29] <katsmeow> zhanx , did you watch the last DARPA robot competition?
[21:53:45] <zhanx> Nope
[21:54:13] <katsmeow> showed various arms and hands
[21:54:30] <zhanx> Ok
[21:55:51] <katsmeow> showed one complez 3-fingered hand pop all it's tendons trying to get a grip on a lever-type door handle
[22:05:29] <zhanx> Chain drive for me
[22:06:08] <katsmeow> chain cannot twist
[22:06:19] <katsmeow> or bend sideways
[22:06:46] <katsmeow> unless you mean link chain, hoise cable, tow cable, etc
[22:06:53] <katsmeow> hoist
[22:20:23] <katsmeow> http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2009/03/top_10_tiny__awesome_windows_utilities-2/
[22:31:52] <zhanx> Link chain
[22:42:13] <katsmeow> have you considered dyneema ?
[22:43:49] <katsmeow> i think rue may be onto something with size, using bearings that are only 8mm OD may be less pricey, but takes a lot more work to deal with teh tiny dimensions
[22:44:35] <katsmeow> i think going up in size so i can use 1/4 or 3/18 or 1/2 shafts and common tubing in assorted strengths has good points
[22:45:41] <katsmeow> once up to some size, 3500lbs tapered roller bearings for trailers get cheap,,, but invariably bigger bearings need lathes and mills and such to make the bearing seats
[22:48:19] <katsmeow> for instance, 1607 bearings are cheap, but have way oddball dimensions
[23:51:06] <rue_shop3> @#$%^@#!$%&@! I flipping overboared one of the rollers by .5mm
[23:51:16] <rue_shop3> now I have to freaking make a freaking insert
[23:51:36] <rue_shop3> good thing I stopped to check, I was planning to go much farther
[23:52:56] <rue_shop3> kat, I dont know you need a lathe, I seen what you can do with a grinder
[23:56:16] <katsmeow> depends on how much metal needs to be removed
[23:56:30] <rue_shop3> -0.5mm
[23:56:33] <rue_shop3> grrrr
[23:56:44] <rue_shop3> it looks like I can make an insert from a 3/4" nipple
[23:57:34] <katsmeow> soak some paper in epoxy and lay it in?
[23:58:17] <rue_shop3> tis ok
