20:06 ^kat^ well, there's a new flavor: Campbells soup (hearty pizza with sasuage and pepperoni) and oj and lots of vodka
20:08 zhanx- Evening
20:08 ^kat^ yes
20:09 zhanx- Well my shop leaks a bit, it's raining now so I got some work to do
20:10 ^kat^ leaking a bit before you put in the ceiling insulation is ok, it tells you where the holes are
20:10 zhanx- Ingot a wood stove for a 12x8 building
20:10 zhanx- Insulation is not needed
20:11 ^kat^ insulaton is needed for keeping the batteries from freezing, by just banking the wood stove
20:11 zhanx- Good point
20:12 ^kat^ i can think as well drunk as i can sober, now that i am so old i don't think well sober ;-)
20:12 zhanx- I got all the wood for the false floor for the batteries
20:13 ^kat^ cool
20:14 zhanx- Fubar, I am off on all my outlet covers
20:14 zhanx- Now I have to cut them, the boxes are staying in place
20:14 ^kat^ off how?
20:16 zhanx- Forgot stand off for the cover on the edge
20:17 ^kat^ oops
20:18 zhanx- Tomorrow I hope to have the battery box in and the electric heater in
20:18 ^kat^ get metal ones, hammer them flat, real thin
20:18 zhanx- Aka old electric blanket
20:19 ^kat^ hmm, no acid on the blanke, rght?
20:19 zhanx- I gain mains power now wired in
20:19 zhanx- Nope
20:20 ^kat^ also, better tst that blanket, the new ones cut off after theyy reach temp, and to not turn back on,, and after power outage, they do not come back on
20:20 ^kat^ better simulate error conditons with it
20:21 ^kat^ i tossed all my blankets, went with a oil filed electric under/into the foot roaster, it's perfect
20:24 zhanx- K, I am worried about if I can't get here for a bit
20:25 zhanx- Just made a bench so I have something to sit on
20:25 ^kat^ benchto sit on??? wow, even i have portable foot stools, some i mde myself
20:26 zhanx- Kat it's the start of a shop
20:26 ^kat^ ok,, here's a bar stool to sit on
20:27 ^kat^ doubles as a sawhorse
20:28 ^kat^ 1/2 inch plate steel seat, 1" angle legs
20:28 zhanx- Nice
20:28 ^kat^ i made steel saw horse too,, got carries away, made some 6ft tall, great as schafolding
20:29 at^ has been cutting steel and welding on floaties all
20:29 ^kat^ hence the bad foot pain and drinking of vodka
20:30 ^kat^ seems humans suck at doing things right
20:31 ^kat^ the 38.5 " plate is anywhere from 38.25 to 38.75
20:31 ^kat^ and it's cut diagonally in some
20:31 ^kat^ and the 33 gal drums are actually 30 , cutting 600 lbs off the floatie capacity
20:32 at^ is waiting o pics of zhanx's work
20:34 zhanx- Wait till I fix the floor
20:35 ^kat^ k
20:36 ^kat^ so i was hoping to get by with a grid of 2x6 barrels at each corner, but i will need to fill in all the gaps now to get adequate floatation in all conditions
20:37 ^kat^ putting 5 pods down each side should do it
20:38 ^kat^ 10 pods is 12 000 lbs
20:38 zhanx- http://imgur.com/YFfyPdl,ngcjt27
20:38 zhanx- That is a lot of weight it can hold
20:39 ^kat^ fiberglass creegated walls? no insulaltion?
20:39 ^kat^ corregated
20:39 zhanx- Correct
20:39 at^ looks sternly at her k
20:40 ^kat^ the polyurethane will freeze too then
20:41 ^kat^ wwaiiittt a sseecc,, you can't get that trisquare over the nailhead
20:41 zhanx- Ok I can't
20:41 ^kat^ and that small chisel!
20:43 zhanx- Yes I just removed them and took a photo
20:43 zhanx- http://imgur.com/4boJSFW
20:45 ^kat^ err, umm, ok
20:45 ^kat^ a couple nails look a lil different
20:46 ^kat^ but whatever works :-)
20:46 zhanx- The square is an illusion of the camera, the small chisel turn side ways etc
20:46 ^kat^ whatever you do, if you must use finishing nails, use finishing nails, don't clip the heads off regular nails,, you get cut up that way
20:47 zhanx- I got both
20:47 zhanx- The curf saw in on a finish nail
20:48 ^kat^ i satrted putting the roof plywood down with #8 plain, switched fast to twisted shank, switched fast again to screws
20:49 ^kat^ tin is down with formed (i built the former) 1.25 "fender" washers and screws
20:49 ^kat^ big dap of 30 yr silicone under the heads before i tightened down
20:50 ^kat^ that pizza in oj and vodka was so good, i think i';; see if i have anotehr can of it
20:51 at^ looks sternly at her keybd a
21:01 ^kat^ i am out a pizza soup
21:01 ^kat^ made it to the bedroom withot screwming cusswords at my feet, nuking some dinner (not the tereiaki)
21:02 ^kat^ changed shoes, feel anethesized
21:02 ^kat^ wonder if anyone is here here
21:02 at^ clicks on "send in the vecto
21:02 ^kat^ purple boxes ensue
21:06 at^ is ponderng the ramificatins of the packet in a soup bowl instead of in a 2gt container like the corrections
21:06 ^kat^ i mean directions
21:09 ^kat^ hello
21:17 at^ listens to a lil Sweet "love is like oxygen", and thinks humans are a sad lil organochemical lot, but,, some of them seem h
21:18 ^kat^ dinner beeped, looks done, smells good, still watery like soup, adding another 10 min to it
21:18 zhanx- Sorry was fixing the roof
21:19 ^kat^ ok, italian dressing in oj with vodka, not as good as pizza
21:19 ^kat^ note to self: add only yhe dry ingredients of the dressing
21:20 Tom_itx cheapass buttons screwing with me trying to debug my pendant logic code...
21:20 m_itx goes back to co
21:20 at^ toasts
21:20 m_itx feels b
21:21 Tom_itx ahh... wrong kind of toast
21:21 ^kat^ oooops
21:22 at^ ponders adding "egg noodles" to the shouldn't-be-soup to dry it
21:23 zhanx- Ok follow me on this
21:23 zhanx- I am 38" wide
21:24 zhanx- So for movement space I think 24" work benches will allow me room to move
21:25 zhanx- If I have 1 12 bench 2 foot wide on the none entry wall and another 8 long one on the entry wall I will have a 4 foot isle to move in
21:25 Tom_itx same as kitchen countertop
21:26 zhanx- Minus the 42" height yes
21:26 Tom_itx works until you bend over and smack your head on the workbench
21:27 zhanx- So one work bench instead of 2
21:27 Tom_itx then it's anybody's guess what'll happen to the workbench
21:27 ^kat^ YOU ARE 38 inches WIDE??
21:27 zhanx- I broke the in laws door way yesterday, for it was 6' tall
21:28 zhanx- Kat remember I am bigger than a door
21:28 ^kat^ i am sitting in a capitans chair comfortably with armrests 20 inche sinside apart
21:28 zhanx- Forgot not for
21:28 ^kat^ you must have put on 300 lbs since leaving the army
21:29 zhanx- No only 10
21:29 ^kat^ 39 INCHES wide? over 3FEET ?
21:30 ^kat^ not possible
21:30 zhanx- 38 and yes it is, you know I am a large fella
21:31 at^ was using a difefrent definition of "la
21:31 at^ slaps herself for
21:32 zhanx- My family is huge compared to me
21:33 zhanx- My wife hates seeing my family she feels like a little kid
21:34 ^kat^ thing i recall about upstate NY is there's a family in which all the adult women are as tall standing up as i am sitting down
21:34 ^kat^ i am 6ft with work boots and extra padding in them, i felt real wierd around them
21:35 ^kat^ but there's women bigger than me, and i don't mean Caitlyn Jenner
21:35 zhanx- measuring everything thing for my pops, he specialized in ergonomic movements
21:35 zhanx- My sis is 6'2"
21:35 ^kat^ nice, but feel alil bad for her
21:36 zhanx- She is fine with it
21:36 ^kat^ i am like 5-11 in my bedroom sneakers
21:36 zhanx- Lots of tall danish girls in Michigan
21:37 zhanx- With boots I am 6'5"
21:37 ^kat^ in Tx too, and the rare one in Fla
21:37 ^kat^ dinner beeped again
21:38 anx- nickname is sponge
21:38 zhanx- One large square
21:39 ^kat^ feet still hurt if i stand, can't feela damned th8ng wit my front paws
21:42 ^kat^ cannot taste "hot" with tongue
21:42 ^kat^ must be hot, lotsa stem
21:45 at^ clicks on ""send in vectro
21:45 ^kat^ this is actually real tasetyy, even drunk
21:56 at^ ends the vectroid game with $340,00 n the bank and 5 extra l
21:57 ^kat^ $340,056
21:57 ^kat^ this is saturday, shouldn't there be a good movie on ?
22:03 at^ watches last week's Defin
22:08 ^kat^ HELLO
22:50 ^kat^ Iran says finds unexpectedly high uranium reserve
22:52 at^ removes some extra metal from her
22:54 ^kat^ By the end of 2017 Airbus will make four A320 aircraft a month in Mobile, Alabama, creating 1,000 jobs in the United States. Airbus hopes to make a new version of the A320 there in 2017, the newspaper said.
22:54 ^kat^ so sad Boeing and Lockeed and otehrs
22:55 ^kat^ Global production of the A320 will be ramped up to 50 aircraft a month, Bregier said. The company has over 5,400 orders for A320s, and a second production line in Hamburg is being considered.
22:55 Tom_itx they're not as reliable as boeing
22:56 Tom_itx we're building airbus parts here too iirc
22:56 ^kat^ but they have 40% of usa market share already
22:56 ^kat^ Boeing stubbed their toes several times on their dreamliner, afaik
22:57 Tom_itx boeing pulled out of town, Spirit took over the plant and have taken on other work as well as boeing airframes
22:57 ^kat^ oh
22:57 Tom_itx airbus is one i believe
22:57 Tom_itx also have bombardie, beech and cessna here as well
22:58 ^kat^ Airbus is bragging they got non-union labor, that's gonna kill olde usa oems
22:58 Tom_itx learjet was bought by bombardie sp?
22:59 ^kat^ bombardier
23:00 Tom_itx and cessna and beech are owned by the same conglomerate now
23:00 ^kat^ 90% of use electonics oem are too
23:00 ^kat^ Fluke was just bought too
23:01 ^kat^ just as well for them, they were bing undersold 10 cents on the $ by China
23:01 Tom_itx Textron iirc
23:01 ^kat^ it's astonishng to me that usa companies have not learned to compete with China yet
23:01 Tom_itx http://txtav.com/
23:02 Tom_itx hawker owned beech for a while but gave the name back to it as beech
23:02 ^kat^ it's also astonishing to me that the asholes next door procreated, been on welfare their whole life, and their new kid is learning to talk and will be on welfare her whole life too
23:02 Tom_itx textron purchased cessna first
23:02 Tom_itx then beech
23:03 Tom_itx gotta love merica
23:03 ^kat^ i will be able to afford a chinese aircraft ,, never will be able to afford a usa one
23:03 Tom_itx i would rather fly in a usa one
23:04 ^kat^ blewme away when the usa lost the whole color tv and crt market, and then semiconductors were bought wholesale by Japan and Korea
23:04 Tom_itx head hunters come here looking for skilled aircraft labor
23:05 Tom_itx i think we're even better than seattle when it comes to quality
23:05 Tom_itx which is where boeing went
23:05 Tom_itx they alredy had a plant here and there
23:05 ^kat^ it was their home plant
23:05 Tom_itx i know
23:05 Tom_itx we produced the airframes and shipped them out there on rail
23:06 Tom_itx you used to see rail cars lined up with them here
23:06 ^kat^ biggest open factory floor in the world when built, fastest large airline production line, now airbus is eating their lunch :-(
23:07 Tom_itx quite a few ppl from here also went to georgia to gulfstream
23:07 ^kat^ i have not paid attention to Marretta Ga, but from what i know, they all have been in trouble there since 1980 ?
23:07 ^kat^ Marietta
23:08 Tom_itx is that near savannah?
23:08 ^kat^ Atlants
23:08 Tom_itx i've seen the one near savannah
23:08 ^kat^ Atlanta
23:09 ^kat^ might have been shuttered because Atl grew so much, lotta high end housing just over I-285 from them
23:09 ^kat^ almost no low altitude C130 flights over me in the last couple years
23:10 ^kat^ might have gotten tired of patching bullet holes, they got way low down the valley, scared people's cows
23:10 Tom_itx we've got the tankers here
23:10 Tom_itx expanding for the new one as well
23:10 ^kat^ tankers and EC here
23:11 ^kat^ but, if they still fly, they fly somehwere else now
23:12 ^kat^ didn't do them any good to practice here, they took a EP-3 from here down to Columbia/Brazil(?) and were there a week and went into a mountainside
23:12 ^kat^ made me feel all warm and fuzzy, considering i could look *down* on the plane as it flew by me, unless it was at treetops right over me
23:13 ^kat^ also surprised they never clipped cell towers out here
23:14 ^kat^ the nooise cracked one of my skylites one year,, that low
23:23 ^kat^ we are zhanxless
23:32 at^ eats some sleepy p
23:38 zhanx- Home sweet home without heat :(
23:39 ^kat^ go get the wood heater?
23:39 zhanx- No, I get to fix the heater if it gets below 60
23:39 zhanx- It's 62 now
23:40 zhanx- Kids and wife are at the in laws tonight so I can deal with it
23:40 at^
23:41 zhanx- Had a donation when I got home stove pipe for my wood stove nice of them
23:42 ^kat^ ever used a wood burner all winter?
23:42 zhanx- Which time
23:42 ^kat^ umm either
23:43 zhanx- The family farm has a wood stove oven
23:43 ^kat^ most people don't know how much heat they can throw at nearby walls, or how hot a chimney fire can get where it goes theru the wall
23:43 zhanx- True
23:44 zhanx- I got 3 foot stand off and plans for insulation
23:44 ^kat^ they also don't know to provide a local air intake, from the outside, to the heater
23:44 zhanx- Shed = lots of air
23:45 ^kat^ i used the sheet steel skin off a large water heater, wrapped around the backside, side effect is it make a heck of a draft and helped circulate the air
23:45 zhanx- I installed a ceiling fan :)
23:45 ^kat^ yea, but you don't want the cold air intake across the shed, keeping yur feet cold
23:46 zhanx- I figure I might need to open a window if I get the fire too hot
23:46 ^kat^ i ran my stovepipe thru anotehr pipe, 1/4 inch wall, an inch bigger ID air gap , and a duct from that inside down to near the intake for the heater
23:46 zhanx- But I also need to add a window to do that
23:47 ^kat^ insulated stovepipe will reduce the buildup too
23:47 zhanx- Woot my soldering iron came in!
23:48 zhanx- 100 watts of melting fun
23:48 ^kat^ big iron
23:49 zhanx- Controller from my old one for heat hopefully works
23:49 ^kat^ i still have my 1970's W60, but i use a lil 40w ,, ow is a 25w? forget
23:49 zhanx- It's for 14 and 12 gauge wire
23:50 zhanx- Did I mention my water wheel?
23:50 ^kat^ slightly
23:50 ^kat^ turna a car alternator
23:50 zhanx- Did I mention I hit it with a tree
23:50 ^kat^ no
23:51 zhanx- The alt appears fine, but I need new plastic barrel
23:51 ^kat^ any chance you can have running water under the ice this winter?
23:51 zhanx- No I don't think so
23:51 ^kat^ cusswords
23:51 zhanx- I know it flows but not how much
23:52 zhanx- I walked it back a little and it's spring fed
23:53 zhanx- Was hoping to pipe in water etc but it's too low
23:53 ^kat^ drop a pipe into the spring? i was thinking of condenser water if your wood heater was a boiler
23:53 zhanx- It's not
23:53 ^kat^ it could be
23:53 ^kat^ brb, ggt
23:53 zhanx- Cast iron block
23:54 zhanx- With a broken door
23:56 ^kat^ oh
23:56 ^kat^ flue tap
23:56 zhanx- Let me get it runnin first
23:56 ^kat^ imagine your cimney smoke barely easing out the top and falling str8 down tot he grond because it's cooler than the surrounding air
23:57 zhanx- Lol hotnwater for washing and cleaning game was the plan
23:57 zhanx- I am water logged
23:59 ^kat^ ok, add a tube thru the hot water maker, boil freon in it (100F), run a scroll compressor with that pressure, condense with the creek water (40F) ,, it's easier pressures than the compressor was designed for in normal operation
23:59 ^kat^ the motor makes electricity
23:59 ^kat^ runs the ceiling fan and lites
23:59 zhanx- Hmm
