19:10 _Moon rue_house
19:29 _Moon did you die rue?
23:21 any65024565 <sneeze>
23:21 rue_house hi
23:22 any65024565 hi
23:22 rue_house ever gone into panic attack mode when too many things your trying to do just dont work out
23:22 rue_house ?
23:22 any65024565 <<== kat
23:22 any65024565 of course
23:23 any65024565 work as off all day, at the end of the day you sit and look at what you accomplished: put two pieces of steel close together
23:26 any65024565 and milled down the bana jacks on the XL830 meters so *all* the leads work
23:27 any65024565 and found a jack to fit the charging port on the outside gantry
23:27 rue_house ?
23:27 rue_house milled donw?
23:27 any65024565 and installed 8ft of duct plus fan to move air from the puter room which has a/c to the bedroom
23:28 rue_house I spent $650 on a laptop that isn't gonna run linux without randomly blacking out, and I need it working by the 4th
23:28 any65024565 you need to goto a puter shop, say you will pay $650 for a laptop running nix, and see what they offer
23:29 rue_house nobody, they all sell with windows
23:29 any65024565 blacking out sounds like power conservation mode in the bios settings/hp settings/compaq settings
23:29 rue_house and the chromeOS ones dont run intel processors
23:29 rue_house which I need for the software I want to use
23:30 rue_house it seems to be an overheat issue
23:30 rue_house with soemthing wierd, like the drive controller chipset
23:30 any65024565 the laptop i am using i got for free because no one else cold find all the power saving settings that were killing the monitor every 15 minutes and required a reboot to resume
23:30 rue_house working on it is hard when I'm just panicing
23:30 rue_house ah, a dell with the sleep of death issue
23:31 any65024565 hey rue, wanna know why i have no nix boxes?
23:31 rue_house I had one of those
23:31 rue_house your just not used to them
23:31 any65024565 looks like you aren't either
23:31 rue_house once they are working, its SO much less hastle
23:31 any65024565 i haven't had any hassle
23:32 any65024565 i set all the power saving to 2 years worth of seconds
23:32 rue_house its odd, I can pin the 4 processors for a half hour and not have an issue, I can have 3 youtube videos playing at once for as long as I can take
23:32 rue_house but if I do too much drive access it shuts down right away
23:33 rue_house viruses, updates, in-your-face microsofisms, ads eveywehre
23:33 rue_house windows "i know better than you what you want"
23:33 rue_house ever since xp its been horrid
23:33 rue_house not to say xp was good
23:33 any65024565 i have been bypassed by all that, i spose
23:33 rue_house yea
23:33 any65024565 is your laptop maxed out on ram?
23:34 rue_house you put the same amount of work into hammering widnwos flat as I do to a linux box when I make it
23:34 rue_house yea, 8G
23:34 any65024565 bingo
23:34 rue_house oh, no, its not using all that
23:34 rue_house its just as much as can be fit into it
23:34 any65024565 you don't have enough psu internally to power 8gig and the screen on daylite bright, and the hdd
23:34 rue_house linux dosn't ever really use up more than 2G
23:34 rue_house battery
23:35 rue_house hmm
23:35 any65024565 try setting the screen bright to 70%
23:35 rue_house well, I'm game for anything
23:35 rue_house I found out ubuntu might know the status of the right temp sensor
23:35 rue_house I'm trying to work on that more
23:37 rue_house http://www.amd.com/en-us/products/processors/desktop/a-series-apu#
23:37 rue_house they did too, they put the video chip in with the processor
23:38 any65024565 ouch
23:39 rue_house its sold as a 2 core machine, but linux found 4
23:39 any65024565 well,, lower the screen rez, to 1024x768 ?
23:39 rue_house I'm wondering if its just microsoft limited liscencing where your onyl allowed to use 2
23:39 any65024565 ah,, turn off 2 of the cores it isn't suppoded to use
23:39 rue_house cant turn off cores...
23:39 rue_house that I know of
23:39 any65024565 prolly a heat issue, use all 4, and it shuts down on overheat
23:40 rue_house I made them all run while(1); loops
23:40 rue_house 100% on all 4 processors,
23:40 rue_house didn't phase it
23:40 any65024565 hmm
23:41 any65024565 back to the theory of the psu overheatng
23:45 rue_house looks like its a K10 processor
23:47 any65024565 have you seen the tv series "Extant" ?
23:47 any65024565 i dunno what network it's on, but i bet it's filmed n Canadia
23:47 rue_house heard of it
23:48 any65024565 it's got robots
23:49 any65024565 yrs ago there was a tv show outa Norway(?) Sweden(?) subtitled in english, but it's now being remade in UK, on bbc, in english
23:49 any65024565 lotsa robots, series is caleld "Humans"
23:50 rue_house this machine is a K10
23:50 rue_house that machine is a K10
23:50 rue_house ok
23:53 y65024565 ponders some
23:54 any65024565 but all outa beans
23:56 any65024565 the shielded banananana plugs, some are so short they are bana plugs, and the XL830 meters recess the metal barrel 1/4 inch down inside the jack, so i got some leads that bottom on the tower before the metal pin meets the metal barrel
23:58 any65024565 the metal barrel cannot be pushed up the plastic tower because the metal sits in a larger diameter recess in the tower, if it's "shrunk" and pushed up the tower, it becomes too small dia for any banananana pin to insert
23:59 any65024565 the easiest solution, not opening the meter case at all, was to take 3/16 off the top of the tower, so the jack would go farther in
