02:53 rue_bed not really no
02:54 rue_bed I use arduino boards, not the firmware
02:54 rue_bed I still use gcc and my avr flasher
02:54 rue_bed the boards are cheaper than I can get chips
02:55 rue_bed at $1.50 per board, I cant even justify making my own boards
02:55 rue_bed that said, my m328 libraries are expanding rapidly
10:55 rue_house http://www.ufv.ca/media/assets/faculty-of-trades-and-technology/apprenticeship-electrical/Required+Books.pdf
10:56 rue_house wait,t hats not right
11:04 zhanx what are you doing home at this hour?
11:04 zhanx also i wonder what the 12% HST is
11:08 rue_house I'm off work, starting year 3 schooling on the 4th
11:08 rue_house trying to get junk organized
11:53 rue_house Heuristic singularity tax, we had it for a while in canada between governments we threw out
21:03 ^kat^ hmm, still no one here
21:08 Tom_itx can't type atm
21:08 Tom_itx bbl
21:09 ^kat^ o
21:10 Tom_itx better but still not good.
21:10 zhanx HEY
21:10 zhanx oops caps was still on
21:10 ^kat^ YEH
21:11 zhanx researching RTOS for the stm32f103 for my home automation stuff
21:17 ^kat^ Why This 14-Year-Old Kid Built a Nuclear Reactor
21:17 ^kat^ In his quest to better the world,Taylor Wilson captured the interest of Homeland Security and ended up with radioactive pants.
21:17 zhanx its a deep rabbit hole
21:17 ^kat^ Taylor Wilson built a nuclear reactor at the age of 14. He gets obsessed, his father Kenneth says. Whatever he is involved in, he goes at it non-stop.
21:17 zhanx ocd
21:17 zhanx like that guy out in texas who used smoke alarms for his radiation source
21:17 zhanx with like zero protection
21:18 ^kat^ "My jeans are generally not radioactive at the start the day!”
21:18 zhanx thinking about getting a job
21:18 ^kat^ why?
21:19 zhanx bored
21:19 zhanx need money ish
21:19 zhanx i like sitting at home and hacking hardware but...
21:19 ^kat^ ok, make me a pga that looks like a ttl sram on one side, and accessed sdram on the other side
21:19 ^kat^ or ddr/ddr2/ddr3
21:19 zhanx huh?
21:20 zhanx i am learning stm32 programming, still learning the hardware stuff
21:20 anx is a great programmer, shitty hardware so
21:20 ^kat^ this would be gate array, or ARM
21:20 ^kat^ ARMs access desktop mobo ram natively, i believe
21:21 zhanx ordered my stuff yesterday from china be here in two weeks or so
21:21 ^kat^ so what i need is a interface on the other side that looks like a sram
21:21 zhanx fyi you can access laptop ram via i2c
21:22 ^kat^ if it can make the modules lok like sram, then any low end garden cpu/micro can use mobo rams
21:22 zhanx found that in my wanderings today
21:22 anx thinks o
21:22 zhanx it would actually help my system
21:22 ^kat^ you set certian prams with the i2c, but you cannot access the drams with it
21:22 zhanx well you set the prams so you can access the rest from what i read, it was a bit above my level
21:23 at^
21:23 zhanx either way i got a broken laptop and a chip on the way
21:23 ^kat^ the dram voltage levels are critical, so is the clock phasing
21:23 zhanx if i can get 4 gigs of ram to work i will give you the code
21:24 ^kat^ for what chip?
21:24 zhanx i d/l'd a example for a different chip than what i have
21:24 zhanx it was some lpc thing
21:25 zhanx i will be using a sightly faster chip to try it
21:29 ^kat^ finally remembered to get paprika, by writing it in 1" tall capital block lettering on the back of my paw
21:30 zhanx nice, i am not a fan of it
21:30 ^kat^ zhanx, there must be a better way to read the operating voltgae of the ram module too, other than that voltage notch that won't let you install the module
21:31 ^kat^ i just grabbed 100 mobo ram module sockets, all the wrong voltage, for $4
21:31 zhanx they are 1.3v i think
21:31 zhanx ugh
21:31 ^kat^ figure i personally can just grind the interference away, and set the voltage to what i know it will be
21:32 ^kat^ no, the notch sets 3 different voltages
21:32 zhanx didn't know that
21:32 ^kat^ and then the one-notch modules, the one notch is in different places
21:33 ^kat^ i have some mobo sockets that will accept most new modules, but there's no 2nd notch, and the end guides/latches don't reach the module
21:35 ^kat^ but all the pcb edge fingers have contacts in the socket,, no clue what they are really for,, they are ~6 inches wide
21:35 zhanx think i just killed a esp8266
21:35 zhanx :(
21:35 ^kat^ 124 pins on one side of the notch, 152 on the other side
21:36 zhanx that is a lot
21:36 zhanx forgot the chip was 3v gave it 5v
21:37 zhanx ooops
21:37 ^kat^ ouch
21:37 zhanx long long day
21:37 ^kat^ putting in too much volts is a guaranteed way to push the magic smoke out
21:37 zhanx i'll let it cool and see if it works kind of
21:52 at^ is getting very facepl
21:53 zhanx same here
21:53 zhanx gonna eat first
22:24 ^kat^ zzzzzzzzzzz
