13:40 katsmeow-afk it is very demoralisng to need to keep throwing money at something, for every little thing,,,, like if i haveto order every M12 bolt on ebay to find the right thread, knowing that isn't the end of making the bit-stop down the length of the shaft

13:48 katsmeow-afk as if necking down the shaft on the big press to under 1/2 inch wasn't enough, they supplied an aftermarket collar to hold the chuck onto the tapered shaft, and that collar is pinned by drilling for a roll pin thru what's left of the necked-down shaft

13:53 katsmeow-afk it also dawned on me, threads are inherently not concentric, so if the taper in the nut is not concentric with the threads, the nut can force the collet over to one side
13:54 katsmeow-afk the nut cannot adjust the side of the collet that is againtst the taper in the spindle, but it can prematurely close the side that isn't against the spindle taper
