00:06 useless-afk TIL : "It's A Beautiful Day" is the name of a band
00:14 useless-afk Uber Partnering With China's BYD To Use Electric Cars In Chicago
00:22 useless-afk In fact, the 70 ft. planing
00:22 useless-afk hull, driven at 50 knots, will require nearly 44 times the horsepower that the displacement
00:22 useless-afk hull requires at 10 knots even though the speed was increased by a factor of 5.
00:23 useless-afk a review of
00:23 useless-afk published engine weight data indicates that the average weight of diesel engines is
00:23 useless-afk approximately 6.5 lbs/hp.
00:25 useless-afk so at 10kts the 70hp engine is only 1% of the ship weight, at 50kts the 3,070hp engine is 36% of the ship's weight
00:43 useless-afk obviously, the fuel tanks needed to feed the 3,070hp engines will be larger too
01:24 rue_house hi kat
01:25 rue_house supernovas throw material at an average velocity of 10M m/s (averaged over 1000 years)
01:26 rue_house the speed of light is 299Mm/s
01:27 rue_house I wonder what the peak velocities are
01:28 rue_house I'm gonna go play with my printer
01:28 useless-afk o
02:00 useless-afk ---When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bike. Then I realized, God doesn't work that way, so I stole one and asked him to forgive me.
02:01 useless-afk --- My mom was a ventriloquist and she always was throwing her voice. For ten years I thought the dog was telling me to kill my father.
02:01 useless-afk --- Why is it called Alcoholics Anonymous when the first thing you do is stand up and say, 'My name is 'Walrus', and I am an alcoholic'?
02:03 useless-afk --- Did you ever notice that when you blow in a dog's face, he gets mad at you but when you take him on a car ride, he sticks his head out of the window?
02:04 useless-afk --- Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit; Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.
03:15 useless-afk rue : http://www.endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=15057
03:17 useless-afk you seriously need amperage controls on the stator windings tho, trust me, they are essentially coiled copper short circuits
03:18 useless-afk aaallllsssooo, the air gap tween the stator and the rotor is horribly large, but if you slit the stator to close up that gap, be mindful of the rotor expanding when it gets hot, don't close it up too much
03:38 rue_house I'v heard of this before
03:39 rue_house goodnight
03:50 useless-afk k
03:52 useless-afk is your mom named Margy?
03:54 useless-afk http://powellriverbooks.blogspot.com/
04:00 useless-afk they want $150,000 for this : http://www.sponbergyachtdesign.com/FlaglerHouseboats.htm
04:01 useless-afk $200,000 if fully kitted out and towed out of that marina for you to put somewhere else
04:02 useless-afk the big houseboat is more $$$,$$$, but being they have been unable to sell them, they don't public the cost
05:50 useless-afk .

06:41 useless-afk Quote:
06:41 useless-afk You will need to down load it to floppy discs.
06:41 useless-afk And you'll only need 17 093 776 700 of them. Floppies are 3 mm thick so the entire stack would be 51 281 km high. Perhaps not such a hot idea after all, that stack of disks would pose a serious threat to the GPS satellites
06:48 useless-afk wait, if the stack of floppies reached the astelittes, they wold not need to upload the internet for to be sending it back down to us?
14:05 katsmeow nother worthless battery
14:07 katsmeow Walmart has a group 24 "marine battery" for $61 : http://www.walmart.com/ip/EverStart-24MS-6-Marine-Battery/16782694
14:08 katsmeow i cannot believe how battery prices have doubled in the last 3-4 yrs
14:12 katsmeow i didn't get a deep discharge for the puter ups, because 300 watts is 25amps@12vdc, prolly 100amp-hr (20hr rate), so no more than an hr at 25amps, so it doesn't matter if it's deep discharge or not if pull all the power out in only one hour
22:32 tsmeow puts in Avatar to watch for the first
22:36 tsmeow-afk just grabbed one of these for actual free free no charge http://www.ebay.com/itm/HAMAMATSU-PMT-PHOTOMULTIPLIER-Lamp-Light-931B-Optical-Photo-Detector-/280651403166?rmvSB=true
22:36 katsmeow-afk what do i do with it?
22:36 katsmeow-afk i have the magnetic shield for it too
22:39 rue_shop3 katsmeow-afk, I just leaned a halarious old school trick
22:40 rue_shop3 for making trimmed small capacitors
22:40 rue_shop3 take two wires and wrap them till you have more capacitance than you want, then trim them to get your value
22:40 rue_shop3 twist them
22:40 katsmeow-afk yeas
22:41 katsmeow-afk same with coax, cut to more capacitance, then trim to needed value
22:41 katsmeow-afk you can slide the inner wire in and out for some adjustment
22:44 katsmeow-afk you can use a fet as a varactor too, they change capacitance based on gate voltage
22:46 katsmeow-afk by the end of this yr, i'll be 60 yrs old, i know the old tricks, i could use some help with the new stuff
22:46 rue_shop3 oo
22:55 Tom_itx well crap.
22:55 Tom_itx after all that, none of my programs run on 64bit
22:56 katsmeow-afk if 32bits worked, why did you "fix" it?
23:06 rue_shop3 Tom_itx, yea
23:07 rue_shop3 wait, linux?
23:08 rue_shop3 linux shouldn't care
23:35 rue_shop3 your "could come in handy some day" box is full, its a good day to make something handy
23:52 katsmeow-afk i are having trouble with the idea of needing a 30amp@13vdc psu to power the 12vdc-120vac invertor, but the 30amp psu won't be enough to charge the fall-back battery while powering the invertor
23:55 katsmeow-afk 125amps@12vdc (1500w) is just enough to keep 10 desktops up, but to charge the batteries, it needs 125amps@13.6vdc , or 1700watts
23:55 katsmeow-afk plus any inefficiencies
23:56 katsmeow-afk 1700w = 14amps@120vac (sine)
