00:06 rue_bed wonder what the bits to pixel mapping is like
00:06 rue_bed 4bits/pixel?
00:06 rue_bed RGBI?
00:10 katsmeow-afk it's too close to midnite, my brains are shutting off, it's been stressful today
00:11 katsmeow-afk it's 4 bits, it's 16 color
00:11 katsmeow-afk technically, iirc, it's 8 color and two luma
00:12 katsmeow-afk they kept the color down because the video chip shares the cpu buss, and the color data fetches interfere with the cpu time on the buss
00:12 katsmeow-afk i plan on separating that stuff, naturally
00:12 katsmeow-afk however, i don't see much need to go past 8bit color on a text processing Ai machine
00:13 katsmeow-afk CGI on a old dos box was basic 16color, or 256 color with upgrades <shrug>
00:14 katsmeow-afk i figure use the 8bit rams i have
00:15 katsmeow-afk i forget the human intensity charts atm, but 2bits to one color, 2 bits to the otehr color, and 3 to the otehr,, i don't remember which needs the 3 bits
00:15 katsmeow-afk could always rescale it in analog tho
00:15 katsmeow-afk then i could do 3-3-2 <shrug>
00:17 katsmeow-afk mirc has 16 colors, i use white, black, red, green, blue, purple, turquois, yellow, that's 8 colors, so 8 bits will be way more than i need
00:20 katsmeow-afk if $var is a string, and %var is an integer, what's a floating point and what's a matrix?
01:29 katsmeow-afk 10f
09:07 rue_house I was gonna say that if you could tap into the ram reads it does, you might be able to regenerate the video into vga
11:13 katsmeow-afk to make vga, yeas, of course, but if you think about the number of chars on a 1024x768, or 800x600 vga screen, it's more chars than the C64 has memory bytes to spare
11:14 katsmeow-afk 1024x768 screen has 120chars wide by 70rows deep, that's 8k of ram for the video, and that's more ram than the entire VIC20 has
11:15 katsmeow-afk it's 1/3 of the entire normal user space of the C64
11:21 katsmeow-afk to bitmap a 1024x768 takes 786,432 bytes
11:22 katsmeow-afk that's 12 times more than the 6502 can address with only 16 addy lines
11:26 katsmeow-afk there's other issues i am struggling with, for instance if i put 8 8k rams on a buss, that's a lot of capacitance slowing things down, but if i do that i can use a shift register to toggle the OE lines on the rams,
11:27 katsmeow-afk effectively cutting the access time down to little pieces of the whole access cycle time,, so addressing 8 30ns rams every 30ns, but OE'ing them every 4ns , gets me 250Mhz rams, as long as the access is sequential
11:30 katsmeow-afk other things bite too, for instance if i use the pile of 8k rams, and i do run them as fast as possible, with a 128bit vliw cpu, that's 8wide , each pulling 750mw, the ram bank is pulling 1.2amps, more than a 7805 can supply
11:32 katsmeow-afk if it's 8deep too, the 7 idle portions of the ram bank will be pulling about an amp also
11:33 katsmeow-afk that's ~2.2 amps @ 5v for 64k of 128bit ram, altho it's clocking at 4ns per instruction
11:37 katsmeow-afk oouuuccchhh the OE enable/disable times are non-symetrical: 3ns vs 10ns
11:38 tsmeow-afk points out on the 74abt373 it's 3.4ns vs
15:41 katsmeow-afk USPS delivered the "FedEx" package, it has NO FedEx stickers on it, and it's so small that 2 dozen would fit the mailbox, the USPS was just trying to make it disappear AGAIN
15:41 katsmeow-afk late last year they said they had delivered a package, and it was located after i got the police involved
15:41 katsmeow-afk this is Alafuckingbama, nothing works as it should
16:45 katsmeow-afk if you are expereincing hypothermia, you will expereince and should follow the instructions:
16:45 katsmeow-afk 1) you will be cold
16:46 katsmeow-afk 2) you will be inable to expereince accurately the surroundings
16:46 katsmeow-afk 3) you will be unable to follow instructions
16:47 katsmeow-afk 4) go inside and take off your wet clothes, if you do not know which clothes are wet because you are unable to accurately access your suroundings, ask someone else
16:47 katsmeow-afk 5) do not wet yourself, take your clothes off and then go inside
16:48 katsmeow-afk 6) if you have been unable to follow these instructions, then read them earlier in your next life
16:58 katsmeow-afk "We would see utilities hit the breaks on natural gas power generation" Wait, what? "hit the breaks"? What breaks are they hitting?

17:16 Tom_itx seems some apply anyway
17:22 katsmeow-afk "Billed as "the toughest race in the world," the Tough Guy 2014 competition took place yesterday..." http://cdn.theatlantic.com/static/infocus/tough012714/s_t01_65204503.jpg <<== wait, that's a guy? err, i mean.. wait, that's a girl?
17:24 katsmeow-afk http://cdn.theatlantic.com/static/infocus/tough012714/s_t13_RTX17VGE.jpg <<== what interesting feet she has
17:25 Tom_itx shoes
17:25 Tom_itx footies or whatever they call em
17:25 katsmeow-afk ah
17:29 katsmeow-afk it's somewhat interesting that i could sit here and watch some of the traffic jams as they formed up and solidly clogged the interstate the other day, but no one who could have done anything about it did
17:30 katsmeow-afk i still have a muscle cramp from yesterday on the phone to USPS, and Monday being at USPS, for them refusing to deliver packages twice in the same week
17:34 katsmeow-afk this guy : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemVersion&item=140773531196 finally got the rest of the sockets to me that i paid for,, it's been only 116 days (or 16.4 weeks, or 3.8 months)
19:02 katsmeow-afk 1250 PCS SILICONIX SMP60N06-18 <<== like a IRF1406 , 60v 60amp 0.18ohms TO-220, atm is $36 + $20 s&h

19:18 rue_house oh my
19:24 rue_house 99.4% feedback too
19:25 tsmeow-afk
19:26 Tom_itx 17min left
19:26 rue_house it looks like it might say 269
19:27 rue_house $54 shipping
19:27 katsmeow-afk it is a 74F269
19:28 rue_house bidir 8 bit counter eh?
19:28 katsmeow-afk there are some 74 'R' parts, but they are all buffers and line drivers, afaik, specially in the 74*16*** family
19:29 katsmeow-afk pretty fast too
19:30 katsmeow-afk the 74F161 / 163 are a few Mhz faster, but they are 4-bits
19:30 rue_house no use for counters, hmm
19:30 katsmeow-afk the 579 and 779 aren't much good, imho
19:30 rue_house 161 and 163 are ripple counters aren't they?
19:31 katsmeow-afk all counters are ripple, eventually, but the 161 and 163 are synchronous
19:31 rue_house I'm gonna nap
19:32 Tom_itx good call
19:32 katsmeow-afk the 579 is 100Mhz 8 bit, but they added SO many control pins to it, they had to elimiate the separate pins for preloading
21:01 katsmeow-afk it's that feeling you get when you discover the reason you got that 50ft of 1.5mm heatshrink tube they were giving away on ebay 2 yrs ago
21:13 katsmeow-afk there's that feeling you get when you know you have 2 new dvm, but cannot find any of them and reach for the Micronta
21:47 katsmeow-afk then tehre is the feeling you get when you re-order an identical item, and it looks identical, and they changed the software inside and it performs like crap
23:31 katsmeow-afk woo! only 18 hrs left on a program that's been running sooooo long
23:33 rue_house hmm
23:34 tsmeow-afk squints her eyes and hmms backat
23:36 rue_shop2 site grab?
23:36 tsmeow-afk
23:37 katsmeow-afk they throttle based on ip and time, you get 3 dl per day, and not on secessive days, but i been dl'ing every 3 hrs for most of a year
23:38 rue_shop2 ouch
