16:20 katsmeow-afk fwiw , when the Canon camera says it has low battery, it doesn't say *which* battery, it could be the lil 3v button cell, which will trigger a low battery alert if it goes below 2.90v
16:21 katsmeow-afk looks like some people are dumping the A530 just because they can't figure that out
18:35 Lola8088 Dragondonkeys make me very happy.
18:45 katsmeow-afk finally, got both my "normal" 7603's back down here and on the shelf, tis not been so since the Fiasco of Fla
18:45 katsmeow-afk letting it warm to room temp with the covers off to eliminate condensation, before powering up and see if it stillw orks
18:49 katsmeow-afk "Apologizing for nude attack on officers, man says he took bath salts instead of LSD"
18:51 katsmeow-afk Jan. 8 (UPI) -- A town councilor in New York who wore a pasta colander on his head when he took the oath of office said it was a statement about religious freedom.
18:51 katsmeow-afk Christopher Schaeffer, who donned the kitchen utensil when he took the oath of office as a Pomfret Town Council member Tuesday afternoon, said he is a minister in the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, a tongue-in-cheek group opposed to the teaching of intelligent design and creationism in public schools, the (Dunkirk) Observer reported Wednesday.
19:08 katsmeow-afk [email] [print]
19:08 katsmeow-afk DENVER, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- A former child seat information line operated by the Colorado State Patrol has become a phone sex line
19:19 katsmeow-afk nope, psu error
19:45 katsmeow-afk i believe i have an intermittant crt flaw
20:11 katsmeow-afk and no signal from the plugin bay to the sweep circuits, but have it from the on-screen display circuits
20:13 katsmeow-afk well, that's another project
20:20 rue_shop3 surprise, when I powered up the 2nd of the regulators I got, it smoked (so it seems)
20:20 rue_shop3 the 7805 on it is just doing passthru
20:20 rue_shop3 its a 78L05
20:20 rue_shop3 looks like they just tied the input to the power input
20:20 rue_shop3 so it had 30V
20:20 rue_shop3 not sure its rated for that
20:23 rue_shop3 ahhh the 78L05 input limit voltage is 35, thats why they say this can only take that for input
20:23 rue_shop3 I gave it 30 and it went poof
20:27 rue_shop3 I need a clamp on meter, the size of a scope probe hook, capable of reading down to 5mA
20:48 rue_shop3 kat, i have beveled jewels and I also have domes...
20:55 katsmeow-afk they used a pot on the sense of the 78L05 to regulate the output? that's bad news if the output goes to gnd because the 78L05 can't regulate below the sense line, afaik
20:57 rue_shop3 no its logic power
20:57 rue_shop3 but the full input voltage goes into it
20:57 rue_shop3 I think the origional 75L05 was faulty
20:57 rue_shop3 I put in a new one and its fine
20:57 katsmeow-afk cool
20:57 rue_shop3 one of its downstream is a LM358, but it seems to be ok
20:58 rue_shop3 dispite getting 30V
20:58 rue_shop3 the jewel is awesome, it takes light from even a pathetic led and makes it wonderfull
20:59 katsmeow-afk since you know you will be giving it 30v solid, praps you can put a 15v zener in series witht he 78L05 input
20:59 rue_shop3 red led + red jewel lens = :)
20:59 katsmeow-afk yeas, i luv jewel lites
20:59 rue_shop3 I would be surprised if its even pushing 2mA
21:01 katsmeow-afk shame for a 5v surge to wipe out the smaller regulators
21:01 rue_shop3 just laying out front panel, do you think 30x12 is a ok ratio?
21:02 katsmeow-afk i dunno what's on it, it hasto work well first, then group things, and space out so you don't accidently adjust the wrong thing
21:07 rue_shop3 dont' feel right if the panel ratio is wrong
21:07 katsmeow-afk everyone has their own preferences, i like rack stuff <shrug>
21:08 rue_shop3 I'm thinking I'll pack all the outputs on the far right
21:09 katsmeow-afk so lay out a cardboard "panel", mix and place stuff, use a magic marker, when it starts feeling right cut the holes and place stuff in the cardboard
21:10 tsmeow-afk saves cardboard and pizza boxes just for this, and pasta boxes for small pa
21:11 katsmeow-afk cut a pizza box right and you can unfold it to be over 2ft wide, and you can use tape, glue, staples to enlarge it
21:12 rue_shop3 boken firewall!
21:13 katsmeow-afk what?
21:13 Lola8088 hrmph
21:13 rue_shop3 put on webserver
21:13 rue_shop3 (mine)
21:13 Tom_itx hrmph yourself!
21:13 Lola8088 heh ehhe
21:13 katsmeow-afk <blink>
21:26 rue_shop3 katsmeow-afk, one sec..
21:27 rue_shop3 ARG, there is all sorts of water comming out of the sky, bouncing and pooling everywhere
21:27 katsmeow-afk we call that "rain"
21:28 rue_shop3 http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/projects/newpower.png
21:28 rue_shop3 its not lined up yet, general layout, thoughts?
21:28 katsmeow-afk no watts?
21:28 rue_shop3 I'll put a calculator beside it :)
21:29 rue_shop3 analog meters
21:29 rue_shop3 if the AMMETERS EVER arrive...
21:29 katsmeow-afk you have more room on the outlets, either A) space them more, or 2) add remote sense lines
21:30 rue_shop3 the regulator modules dont do remote sense...
21:30 katsmeow-afk put separate on/off for each psu, and resetable breaker on each psu
21:30 rue_shop3 I'll respace them
21:30 rue_shop3 ah, thats master power
21:30 rue_shop3 a disable? hmm
21:31 rue_shop3 huh, there is a solid block of water comming out of the sky...
21:31 katsmeow-afk you know overloading one lil psu won't blow the fuse on the off-line switcher?
21:31 Tom_itx rue_house ever do any 'ladder' logic?
21:31 rue_shop3 Tom_itx, yes
21:31 katsmeow-afk http://images.intellicast.com/WxImages/Radar/tiw.gif
21:31 rue_shop3 katsmeow-afk, the regulator moudules auto current limit
21:32 Tom_itx hard to learn?
21:32 rue_shop3 even with both at 5A, they cant take out the main supply
21:32 katsmeow-afk ok, if they don't, something is going to pop
21:32 rue_shop3 Tom_itx, no, its programming for electricians
21:32 rue_shop3 |----||---------o----|
21:32 rue_shop3 switch relay coil
21:32 katsmeow-afk i hate ladder logic, it's like how to make boolbean logic in relays
21:32 Tom_itx http://gnipsel.com/linuxcnc/ladder/index.html
21:32 Tom_itx yes
21:33 katsmeow-afk a coil 5 pages ago can have contacts anywhere in the whole machine
21:33 rue_shop3 |-----| |-----| |-------O------|
21:33 rue_shop3 and gate
21:33 rue_shop3 and, because they are digitally implemented, where it is effects what it effects
21:34 rue_shop3 aka only contacts evaluated AFTER the coil is updated take the new value
21:34 rue_shop3 you can get oscillations really easy
21:38 rue_shop3 I like crackle paint, wonder if its still available
21:39 rue_shop3 Tom_itx, I was writing ladder logic plc program
21:39 Tom_itx linuxcnc uses it
21:39 katsmeow-afk yeas
21:39 Tom_itx i was gonna code some of my pendant stuff with it.. or at least try
21:40 rue_shop3 then I really thought about WHY I was gonna make it, and on comming up with no good reason, I didn't bother
21:40 katsmeow-afk people who use ladder logic will check if a contactor is in by using aux contacts on the relay, not thinking the main poles may not actually make contact
21:41 rue_shop3 today its all software, you can have 600 contacts off the same 'coil' if you want
21:41 katsmeow-afk "see it isn't running, and the relay is n" "it will work if you just kick it right" "the 200amp 480v contactor with open bars?" "yep" <kick> >motor sounds>
21:43 katsmeow-afk unfortuantely, the ladder logic had already applied max power to the contacts, the series wound 75hp motor came to life and sheared off 3" of 1/2 x 1/2 keyway
21:43 rue_shop3 I was gonna put the output lugs between and under the two knobs, but I decided they would get in the way too much
21:43 katsmeow-afk the elevator fell to the bottom of the shaft
21:44 rue_shop3 no slak stop?
21:44 katsmeow-afk it didn't pick up enough speed to actualte the E-brakes
21:45 katsmeow-afk it did, however, lock out auto-restarting
21:45 rue_shop3 I have a tiny bit of feeling of accomplishment, I'm gonna go eat and sleep
21:45 katsmeow-afk i gonna go up and see if i have anotehr 7603 that runs
22:32 tsmeow-afk looks pe
22:37 rue_house all has problems?
22:38 rue_house green pepper was too crispy for my rice, oops..
22:41 katsmeow-afk almost the same problems, too
22:41 katsmeow-afk Nvidia this week announced the Tegra K1, a 192-core super chip
23:06 katsmeow-afk ok, got one working nice when it's warmed up, but it has the frequency analyser graticule, which is a lil disorienting
23:57 rue_house ok kat, lets see what we can find on ebay, 30A 250V 3 wire twistlock
23:58 rue_house female cord end
