00:22 Lola8088 yo
00:22 rue_mohr2 I grated a carrot into my rice!
00:23 Lola8088 you know what that means! ...I have to sing now
00:32 rue_mohr2 katsmeow-afk, do you have a good price on tiny13 dips?
00:42 rue_mohr2 you made a spiral?
00:54 katsmeow-afk the sot-8 were 50 cents each
00:56 katsmeow-afk in qty 100 i can get dip-8 @ 54 cents
00:57 katsmeow-afk in qty 100 i can get smd/sot-8 @ 48 cents
00:57 katsmeow-afk not counting s&h
00:57 katsmeow-afk atm, there 10 on ebay for $1 , no bids, free s&h
00:57 katsmeow-afk smd
00:58 katsmeow-afk i see an auction for 10 at $2.25 free s&h to
01:01 katsmeow-afk i see 50 dip-8 20Mhz for $36 + $2 s&h
01:01 rue_mohr2 hmm
01:02 rue_mohr2 I can find for $1.25 or so ea
01:02 katsmeow-afk i see 100 dip-8 20Mhz for $80 + free s&h
01:02 rue_mohr2 so in jan the usa is going to all-togethor remove its debt cieling
01:03 katsmeow-afk lol
01:03 rue_mohr2 wait and SEE!
01:05 katsmeow-afk cheapest qty20 : http://www.ebay.com/itm/20pcs-Original-ATMEL-ATTINY13A-PU-TINY13A-PU-Microcontrolle-r-DIP-8-K43-/251251558366

01:06 katsmeow-afk you asked for dip-8, not the smd-8
01:06 rue_mohr2 yes, but soemthhg occured to me
01:06 rue_mohr2 http://www.digikey.ca/product-detail/en/ATTINY13A-PU/ATTINY13A-PU-ND/1914671
01:06 rue_mohr2 70c in volumes of 25
01:07 katsmeow-afk the 50 t13 i got were $24 + $2 s&h
01:07 rue_mohr2 :/
01:07 rue_mohr2 oh, they are smt them
01:07 rue_mohr2 ?
01:07 katsmeow-afk mine are
01:07 rue_mohr2 mmm
01:07 rue_mohr2 so, less shipping, dk beats
01:08 rue_mohr2 which means next time I get something for work I can throw in some t13 and get them cheaper AND faster than china
01:08 katsmeow-afk the dips are gonna cost a lil more, and anything under qty50 is going to cost too,, plus mouser/digikey will charge you $20 for s&h
01:08 rue_mohr2 npe
01:08 rue_mohr2 $8
01:08 katsmeow-afk ok
01:09 katsmeow-afk now if only i can find someone to show me how a t13 is typically set up for using it's adc :-/
01:09 rue_mohr2 did I not give you your code yet!?
01:09 katsmeow-afk an LM35 and a 50 cent t13 beats the heck outa your serial-digital thermometers
01:09 katsmeow-afk nope
01:09 rue_mohr2 ffffff
01:11 katsmeow-afk plus wit the t13 you can attach 3 LM35
01:12 tsmeow-afk blew $6.77 on 10pcs of
01:12 katsmeow-afk now i forget,, the 35 is C, the 34 is F ? the C is way cheaper on ebay
01:12 rue_mohr2 http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/programming/kat/
01:13 rue_mohr2 its just volts, do as you wish with them
01:13 katsmeow-afk true
01:13 rue_mohr2 thats the code, its not tested yet because I dont have anything to generate the control signals with
01:13 katsmeow-afk which is why i got the C
01:14 rue_mohr2 I remmeber you asking questions, I'm sure I must have forwarded you the code
01:15 katsmeow-afk 20 pcs LM35 : http://www.ebay.com/itm/SALE-New-20-PCS-x-LM35DZ-LM35-CENTIGRADE-TEMPERATURE-SENSOR-IC-/280943573378
01:15 katsmeow-afk 20pcs free s&h : http://www.ebay.com/itm/20-x-LM35-LM35DZ-Precision-Centigrade-Temperature-Sensor-Free-Shipping-/221055646021
01:15 rue_mohr2 you say national had the good application notes?
01:16 katsmeow-afk yeas
01:16 katsmeow-afk i gave you the url to dl it
01:16 katsmeow-afk last code you gave on the t13 was http://paste.debian.net/70810/
01:16 rue_mohr2 I didn't get past the junk on the site, so I just got the national copy from digchip
01:17 rue_mohr2 ooh, you just have to give it - bias on the output
01:17 rue_mohr2 hmm
01:17 katsmeow-afk [23:46] <katsmeow-afk> http://www.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/pdf/8866/NSC/LM35.html <<== lookie at the first page
01:17 katsmeow-afk [23:46] <katsmeow-afk> FIGURE 2. Full-Range Centigrade Temperature Sensor V OUT=+1,500 mV at +150°C ; +250 mV at +25°C ; -550 mV at -55°C
01:17 rue_mohr2 so if its 'ground' point is lifted, say 0.7V ...
01:18 katsmeow-afk that was woden's day nite, 5 days ago
01:18 rue_mohr2 I thought it was about as simple as figure 8
01:18 katsmeow-afk ummm, i do not have it open here,, what's figure 8? the one with 4 opamps?
01:19 rue_mohr2 (with other chips and precistion resistors)
01:19 rue_mohr2 gnight!
01:19 katsmeow-afk yeas, they get really overboard with oddball 1% resistors
01:19 katsmeow-afk oh
01:19 katsmeow-afk ok, gnite
01:23 katsmeow-afk funny how sometimes it really is faster to throw togetheer some script than do it by hand
01:28 katsmeow-afk my atmel studio 6 won't start
01:28 katsmeow-afk it's trying to phone home
01:28 katsmeow-afk i have it blocked
01:30 katsmeow-afk it says there's new updates anyhow :-/
01:33 katsmeow-afk main compiled is only 280 bytes? wow
01:40 rue_bed oh hey, k
01:40 rue_bed got it?
01:40 tsmeow-afk
01:40 rue_bed ok
01:40 tsmeow-afk looks befud
01:40 rue_bed you want to write it to a chip
01:41 katsmeow-afk which?
01:41 katsmeow-afk the hex?
01:41 rue_bed yes
01:41 rue_bed I dont know windows
01:41 katsmeow-afk good thing i got two t13 dips to fit the programmer board
01:41 rue_bed I'm sure avrdude has a gui for that
01:42 katsmeow-afk avr studio v4 or v6 isn't ok?
01:42 rue_bed dunno
01:42 tsmeow-afk better not do it when sleepy
01:43 rue_bed I'm sure it can do it somehow
01:43 katsmeow-afk well, i used it to program the 2313 before
01:44 rue_bed hmm, seeing as I'm into coding for t13's, I should make the winshield wiper controller I want
01:44 katsmeow-afk heck yeas, especially with this code compression ratio
01:47 katsmeow-afk maybe a sensor to detect the boiler is about to dump the water onto the fire, and change the conditions so thats not necessary
01:55 rue_bed thats the exchanger sensor I was talking about
01:56 rue_bed too bad the thermal profile of steel+copper folds over or I could make a thermocouple
08:01 katsmeow-afk what about a pressure-temperature sensor? puts a vertical tube into the space you want the temperature of, and as long as the end of the tube is it's own liquid boiler system, it will register a pressure directly relavant to the temperature
08:02 katsmeow-afk glue a grey-scale disck onto the pressure gauge needle, and pass it thru a calibrated mouse-wheel-turn optical detector pair
08:10 katsmeow-afk http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/boiling-point-water-d_926.html <<== so if the tube still has water in it, and the gauge reads 100psi, then the temperature in firebox is ~325F
08:11 katsmeow-afk then again, can you use a regular electric oven thermometer, those read up to 450F (?) praps there's a free one at the scrap yard
08:12 katsmeow-afk looks like at 450F, the tube sensor/boiler will read 450psi
08:13 katsmeow-afk you could use something else besides water as the working fluid
08:14 katsmeow-afk it's a tradeoff, if you use water then you need to use stainless steel tubing (from ebay), or if you use sodium or propane liquid then you can use regular steel but the liquid is explosive
08:32 katsmeow-afk ------------
08:32 katsmeow-afk Sessions' office has estimated that closing the tax credit loophole would save the government approximately $4.2 billion, the amount the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration reported that illegal immigrants received due to the credit in 2010.
08:32 katsmeow-afk Congress faces a Jan. 15 deadline to pass a budget bill or risk another partial government shutdown. The debt-ceiling deadline is expected to hit sometime in February.
08:32 katsmeow-afk ------------
08:34 tsmeow-afk cusses as she realises breakfast cooked and she forgot to eat it
08:47 katsmeow-afk i just realised what my personal timezone issue is, it is still set at south pacific island time, even tho i have not been there in ~45 yrs
08:49 katsmeow-afk Tom, here's another usps screwup for you: estimated delivery date on a package is today, but they have been holding it at the local post office since Sunday,, and even then it may not get delivered today
08:50 katsmeow-afk another item left Detroit 4 days ago
08:55 katsmeow-afk http://www.cnn.com/2013/12/15/travel/things-canada-does-better/
09:01 tsmeow-afk is pondering a way to clock *into* the t13 a setting for one pwm channel,, there's two pins i am not using, so clocking *out* data on one pin can also be clocking *in* data on one unused pin, to set the pwm out of the otehr unused
09:02 katsmeow-afk this way i could throttle down the current
09:03 katsmeow-afk no, won't work, unless i move the current sense down to the (-) line where the opamp for the mosfet is referenced from
09:19 rue_mohr2 they will remove the debt cieling
09:25 rue_mohr2 your into bidir data lines now, thats i2c
09:30 katsmeow-afk no, separate in and out wires
09:31 rue_mohr2 ... you only have 1 pin left unused...
09:31 katsmeow-afk or i could just add the 3rd optocopler, and drive the pwm straight off it with no avr involved
09:31 rue_mohr2 er did you say use the big on
09:31 katsmeow-afk you said i have 2 pins unused
09:31 rue_mohr2 lets look at the source
09:32 katsmeow-afk pwr, reset, gnd, clk, data, adc , that's 6 pins of soic-8 package
09:33 katsmeow-afk either way, driving the current limit right off the optocoupler means i don't need the cpu involved anyhow
09:33 rue_mohr2 -3 pins
09:33 katsmeow-afk it remains a smart serial adc
09:33 rue_mohr2 er, wait,
09:33 rue_mohr2 you forgot reset
09:33 rue_mohr2 no
09:33 katsmeow-afk no i didn't
09:33 rue_mohr2 wtf
09:34 rue_mohr2 ; pin 1: reset, tie high
09:34 rue_mohr2 ; pin 2: ADC value, 0-5V in
09:34 rue_mohr2 ; pin 3: not used
09:34 rue_mohr2 ; pin 4: gnd
09:34 rue_mohr2 ; pin 5: serial clock input
09:34 rue_mohr2 ; pin 6: serial data out
09:34 rue_mohr2 ; pin 7: not used
09:34 rue_mohr2 ; pin 8: VCC +5V
09:34 rue_mohr2 sorry, I'm getting my projects mixed up
09:34 rue_mohr2 :)
09:34 katsmeow-afk it's not a big problem, because i'd be throttling the whole unit as one, to set the max power point of the solar panels as one unit
09:35 rue_mohr2 if you need something larger, I have atmega32 code to make a generic io controller
09:35 katsmeow-afk better to use the unused pins as inputs, temperature, praps, to send down to gnd level
09:35 rue_mohr2 it can do pin change notification, you can set the pins to be input or ooutput, read adc, and do pwm
09:37 katsmeow-afk i was thinking of the 4414's, i can read all eight t13 in one module on the 8-bit wide buss , and save as much data in external flash or static ram as i want
09:38 katsmeow-afk the 4414 doesn't have a pwm pin, but i can do that with a quad opamp , and i'd haveto add the chip anyhow to drive 8 optocouplers
09:38 rue_mohr2 you can also do software pwm with interrupts from the timers
09:39 katsmeow-afk but i don't need to
09:39 katsmeow-afk i need 80 ma to drive 8 optocouplers, so i need the external chip for current drive anyhow
09:40 katsmeow-afk or 4 optos
09:40 rue_mohr2 you can series the leds
09:40 katsmeow-afk either way, it's a tiny chip, i can hide it behind one 7-seg display
09:40 rue_mohr2 atleast 3 to a chain
09:41 rue_mohr2 the optos will take more space than the controller
09:41 katsmeow-afk if the cpu freezes, i won't instantly fry the psus
09:42 rue_mohr2 I dont understand, its still dark today
09:42 rue_mohr2 did someone forget to turn on the sun?
09:42 rue_mohr2 did the lightbulb burn out?
09:42 katsmeow-afk the sun is just over the mountains to your southeast, it will be there in a few
09:43 katsmeow-afk hmm, might take an hour even, not sure, it's kinda fuzzy looking there from here
09:44 katsmeow-afk right now, the sun is directly overhead in the south end of south america
09:46 katsmeow-afk yep, right now, the sun doesn't set on antarctica, and it always nite in Artica
09:46 katsmeow-afk i have conflicting data on just what the temperature is outside right now, i should go check
13:45 katsmeow-afk well, i am back home after 3.5 hrs gone and a $100 tow bill
13:45 katsmeow-afk half a tank of fuel and the pump can't get it out of the tank
15:30 katsmeow-afk see, it's not just the huge number of miles Satan must travel in one nite, it's the 100's of millions of start-stop landings-takeoffs that the sleigh must endure
15:31 katsmeow-afk in related news, North Korea says they will shoot down Satan because they want the targetting system the NSA has installed on it, which is said to be so accurate it has never failed to find every chimney on earth in one nite
15:36 Tom_itx TOW BILL!
15:36 Tom_itx wtf
15:36 Tom_itx bad pump?
15:37 Tom_itx clogged filter?
16:28 katsmeow-afk my money is on a clogged filter **inside the tank** ,, or someone put sugar in it when i wasn't looking
16:28 katsmeow-afk but there's no fuel to the electric pump that's tween the bed rails
16:29 katsmeow-afk that tells me it sucked till it ran the line from the tank dry, and the filter sump on top of the engine is dry (or dry enough), that tells me the injector pump sucked the line dry down to the electric pump
16:30 katsmeow-afk but the sloshing fuel in the tank is enoughto swing the fue gauge on the dashboard, which settles on 1/2 full on level ground
16:31 katsmeow-afk i have two options for fixing this:
16:31 katsmeow-afk 1) bypass the front tank and plumb in he rear tank like it's the only tank, which also uses it's electric fuel pump
16:32 katsmeow-afk 2) drop the front tank (which will weigh lots of pounds because it's half full) and play with it during this warm weather, instead of playing with the other stuff i want/need to play with
16:33 katsmeow-afk what i dont' know is where the fuel will go from any overpressure bypass,, to which tank (prolly the front)
16:34 katsmeow-afk i can also pull the electric pump from the suburban, so i have that backup
16:34 katsmeow-afk that pump is pretty high pressure tho, so there will be bypass fuel coming back
17:59 katsmeow-afk this is what we useto use before 74160's : http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/bekman_ins_decimal_counting_unit_785a.html
17:59 katsmeow-afk Power Requirements:
17:59 katsmeow-afk Heaters: 6.3V a-c at 1.8 amps near ground potential.
17:59 katsmeow-afk Plates: 175 to 260 volts. (Design center is 210 volts at 45 ma.)
17:59 katsmeow-afk uses four 12AV7
18:01 katsmeow-afk the Coulter (brand name) counter i used had banks of those modules behind the front panel
21:55 -adams.freenode.net:#garfield- [freenode-info] why register and identify? your IRC nick is how people know you. http://freenode.net/faq.shtml#nicksetup
21:55 Tom_itx must be online :D
21:55 Tom_itx zlog is back
21:56 rue_mohr2 odd, I cant port map it
21:56 Tom_itx tell me about this DNS stuff
21:56 Tom_itx why would my other router be routing it?
21:56 Tom_itx and this old one isn't
21:57 Tom_L http://dns.measurement-factory.com/cgi-bin/openresolvercheck.pl/
21:57 Tom_itx that says the old one is closed
21:57 rue_mohr2 when you type bla.bla.org the reequest goes to a DNS server that resolves it to 834.256.7.34
21:57 Tom_itx where the new one it didn't say it was closed
21:57 rue_mohr2 heh, maybe not 800ish
21:57 rue_mohr2 anyhow
21:57 Tom_itx why would i need that on my router?
21:58 rue_mohr2 if its a stock router, it dosn't
21:58 Tom_itx can i disable it on the new one?
21:58 Tom_itx safely
21:58 rue_mohr2 it passes the isp dns server info direct to the cleints
21:58 rue_mohr2 your isp dosn't know what they are talking about
21:58 Tom_itx the results came from that website
21:58 Tom_itx not my isp
21:59 Tom_itx There may be a setting within your router called "DNS Proxy" or "DNS Relay". You will want to disable this service within your router's configuration menu, if it is enabled
22:00 Tom_itx the traffic started going up when i switched to that router i believe
22:01 Tom_itx so i need to figure out what is letting so much thru
22:02 Tom_itx rue_bed does the server run a DNS name server?
22:02 Tom_itx i don't think i set one up...
22:02 Tom_itx but you were the one that initially helped me get it working
22:10 Tom_itx 1022G is quite a bit
22:13 rue_shop2 moving bit is called the wing kat
22:14 rue_shop2 and there is folding blade
22:14 rue_shop2 bending leaf
22:19 Tom_itx rue
22:19 Tom_itx why would i need to listen for DNS requests from the outside?
22:19 Tom_itx why would i need to listen for DNS requests from the inside?
22:23 Tom_itx got my engraving cutters today
22:37 tsmeow-afk returneth with
22:58 Tom_itx Because EdgeOS is based on Debian, you can add other Debian packages to EdgeOS
23:01 katsmeow-afk uploading
23:03 katsmeow-afk commentless ==>> http://designerthinking.com/brake.html
23:04 tsmeow-afk thinks it worked out well so far, using scraps, and using the bent sheared mill-ends of the sc
23:05 katsmeow-afk the level in the last pic is across the 1" pins at each end, they are straight on to each other
23:06 katsmeow-afk i'll make anotehr weld pass on the top tomorrow, i made two passes inside thechannel to the pin
23:16 rue_shop2 brb
23:17 rue_mohr2 Tom_itx, the internet should never send you dns requests
23:17 rue_mohr2 the router should have nothing to do with internal dns requests, if fowards the server addresses to the isp servers
23:18 rue_mohr2 sometimes routers proxy the requests for you, but that dosn't matter
23:18 rue_mohr2 Tom_itx, what information do you have thats got you looking at dns?
23:19 rue_mohr2 so I have a new trick to avoid pcb mounting holes
23:19 rue_mohr2 big parts that have the mounting holes
23:29 katsmeow-afk 2011 ==>> http://designerthinking.com/carriage.html
23:30 katsmeow-afk note the outside frames that go down to the axle are both bolted on, so i can change axle and tire widths
23:32 katsmeow-afk it's real sturdy, considering it's 20" bike tires
23:43 katsmeow-afk ...
23:44 katsmeow-afk ok, where did i screw up the conversation?
23:51 rue_mohr2 I was making supper
23:52 katsmeow-afk oh
23:52 e_mohr2 gives kat the evil
23:52 rue_mohr2 are YOU at fault for me having to EAT!
23:52 katsmeow-afk me??
23:52 rue_mohr2 YOU?
23:52 katsmeow-afk how did i make you eat?
23:53 rue_mohr2 DID YOU?, IF SO, FESS UP!
23:53 katsmeow-afk was it the weld splatter or the blurry pics?
23:53 rue_mohr2 no...
23:53 tsmeow-afk hands rue Daniel Boone (Fess Par
23:55 katsmeow-afk every now and then i just need a project that crams as many vice grips of as many styles as possible, into the smallest space that is impossible to pick up
23:55 rue_mohr2 :)
23:55 e_mohr2 tires to find the SD slot on the card reade
23:55 rue_mohr2 so many slots...
23:55 tsmeow-afk is so proud of http://designerthinking.com/images/brake/DSCF6520m.jpg
23:56 rue_mohr2 oo!
23:56 katsmeow-afk it lines right up with the other 3" length of 1" pin 24" away
23:58 katsmeow-afk so my scheme to line them up centered on the corner edge (which didn't physically exist because it was radiused), WORKED
23:59 rue_mohr2
http://eds.dyndns.org/~ircjunk/images/halfbridgemotordriver.jpg
23:59 rue_mohr2 ^^ :)
