00:17 TELunus|2 Sort of
00:19 TELunus|2 I've got a server doing a variety of things, but it's on a dynamic IP, and I don't have a dyn dns that I like. So, I'm going to get it to check it's IP address every once in a while, compare it with the previous one, and if they differ send me an email.
00:19 rue_house aaah
00:19 rue_house cant ezipupdate do something like that with email?
00:20 katsmeow-afk eww,, ezi pup dates?
00:20 TELunus|2 So technically it just needs to do outgoing email from it's self, which apparently is an easier problem to solve than general mail handeling like sendmail does.
00:20 rue_house dyndns itself got stupid, every so often they randomly delete your records
00:20 tsmeow-afk hides her LPs and
00:21 katsmeow-afk oh heck, no one knows what a 45 record is
00:21 rue_house echo hello world |mail -s update not@likley.com
00:21 rue_house .. I do...
00:21 katsmeow-afk <whew>
00:21 rue_house oh that makes sense, I'm nobody
00:23 TELunus|2 Actually, my new housemate used to go by nobody. He even grabbed naught.ca, and took the email address nobody@naught.ca.
00:25 rue_house heh
00:26 TELunus|2 Anyways, even though I could just do outgoing mail from the server, I don't want to do that because the ways I've found of doing that involve dissabling sendmail, and it's concievible that I'll want to set it up as a proper mail server in the future.
00:27 rue_house http://hackaday.com/2013/12/08/50-backyard-rollercoaster/
00:27 rue_house hmmm
00:28 katsmeow-afk that looks sooooo unsafe, there's zero vertical supports under anything
00:28 TELunus|2 Also, rue, it looks like ez-ipupdate only works for subdomains of certain domains (eg *.ods.org), but the only domain I have and like is klippenstein.org.
00:29 TELunus|2 If I could set up the dns for klippenstein.org to be dynamic I *might* do that.
00:29 rue_house yea
00:29 rue_house ah
00:31 TELunus|2 katsmeow-afk: by a 45 record do you mean an IPSECKEY reccord?
00:32 rue_house oh its past bedtime
00:33 katsmeow-afk "By covering the wood in some sort of animal fat ([Billy] used olive oil)" ... i wonder if he killed the wild olive himself or extracted it's oil
00:34 katsmeow-afk umm, no
00:36 TELunus|2 Hmm, first glance google searches aren't giving quality results for those record types.
00:38 katsmeow-afk https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-a&hs=lVG&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&tbm=isch&source=univ&sa=X&ei=smGlUraRLMeqkAfFxYGgBQ&ved=0CEAQsAQ&biw=1092&bih=530&q=45rpm%20record
00:42 rue_house looong before I had vynal records, I had ABS records
00:43 TELunus|2 Ooh, I had DNS in my searches...
00:43 katsmeow-afk i cannot imagine an abs record lasting more than a few playings
00:44 tsmeow-afk saw and played a cylinder player once
00:44 katsmeow-afk and a wire recorder
00:44 katsmeow-afk damn i am old
00:45 tsmeow-afk ties to upgrade her puter from 1Mhz to 2Mhz, and upgrade it's ram to
00:46 katsmeow-afk i still have hand calculators with led lites, 4 AA batteries last less than an hour
00:51 katsmeow-afk Klippenstein Corporation Home Page
00:51 katsmeow-afk www.klippenstein.com/?
00:52 katsmeow-afk ooooooo 271 East 24th Avenue
00:54 katsmeow-afk what does it mean that i don't see anything on ebay that i wanna buy at this time?
00:59 katsmeow-afk of course, that said, if you look at ebay you will see a led version of 7A13 goes for waaay more than $20, and a 5A14N goes for waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more than $9.25
01:00 katsmeow-afk it's like 1,300 dip 18 sockets for$15 or a whole reel of chips for $9 :-)
01:01 katsmeow-afk need any 74F112's?
01:09 rue_bed errr, monostables? no
01:10 katsmeow-afk no, JK flipflops, useable as D or SR too
01:10 rue_bed oh
01:10 rue_bed mmm na
01:10 katsmeow-afk you confuse with 74123 and 122 and 221
01:10 rue_bed :) I'm getting rusty
01:10 rue_bed I used to know every one of them in my databook
01:11 katsmeow-afk speaking of stuff, how'd the elevator thing work out?
01:16 katsmeow-afk ooo, pretty : http://www.ebay.com/itm/Eminence-Impero-18C-18-High-Power-Speaker-1200-Watt-4-Ohm-XCaseProAudio-/370885768322
01:17 katsmeow-afk the 8 ohm version of that one, you can plug right into a wall outlet
01:18 katsmeow-afk i dunno for how long tho
01:24 katsmeow-afk in the olden daze, when 74LS was the best , i often used 74LS74 as an SR flipflop, and when i needed high inputs i used a 4013
01:25 katsmeow-afk back then it was still easier to get analog chips faster than LS logic
01:45 katsmeow-afk ah hah, if i want to look up "cow", i can take the first 2 chars as a 16bit address, and get a set of addresses that bracket all words starting with "co"
01:46 katsmeow-afk if i reduce the char set allowable to 7-bit ascii, and use a 2Mbyte addy, i can use the first 3 chars of the search term in one fell swoop
01:47 katsmeow-afk if i know the word length, i can use the 2Mbyte range, use the first 2 chars and the word length to look up only 3-letter words starting with "co"
01:48 katsmeow-afk char#1-char#2-wordlen as the addy to the lookup chip
01:49 katsmeow-afk this is assuming there's no words over 255 chars long
01:49 katsmeow-afk or filenames
02:03 katsmeow-afk reduce to 63 chars, i can look up the bracket in 256k addy space for 3 chars, or 16Mbyte space for 3 chars and up to 63 chars long
09:13 rue_house I havn't finished the elevator thing yet
09:13 rue_house no time
09:15 rue_house katsmeow-afk, becasue its faster than a string compare, I'v been known to use 32bit numbers on microcontrollers and stuff 4 byte string commands in them
13:31 TELunus katsmeow-afk: klippenstein.com is actually not related to me. But guessing from that you just gave me my address, you also looked up klippenstein.org
13:33 tsmeow-afk hands TELunus a loll
13:33 TELunus Ooh, thank you!
13:34 katsmeow-afk i thought it might be related to Klip**** speakers, or a mideval piano, either way i was interested, and the domain name didn't resolve, so i chased it down, that's all, no evil intent
13:34 katsmeow-afk and we are all alone in here, the NSA already knows more than i ever will <shrug>
13:35 TELunus Ya, I don't have a good http server, so for now I've just got mx records to gmail.com's servers.
13:37 katsmeow-afk my first http server was one i wrote in mirc, v2 in mirc was threaded :-)
13:38 katsmeow-afk mirc has serious issues in variable length limits, it's difficult to work with
13:39 TELunus Bleh, I've got course notes that mention plotting the 'root locus', as the very first mention of 'root locus'. Do I need to know what it is? Should they define it first? Nah, apparently that's either self evident or not important.
13:39 tsmeow-afk
13:39 Lunus proceeds to lick loll
13:42 katsmeow-afk arrgg, which reminds me i didn't get breakfast or lunch again,, and it isn't making me lose weight, so i may as well eat
13:44 katsmeow-afk Tiggrbox is learning about Svitzerlyndhurst and Akaroa
13:44 katsmeow-afk above my lil head
13:44 katsmeow-afk bbl, dinner time!
22:16 katsmeow-afk ...
22:20 rue_house my roommate is palying loud heavy metal
22:20 rue_house shall I send a magick packet to his machine 16 times?
22:20 katsmeow-afk tell your 12ft mecha to ask him politely to wear headphones
22:20 rue_house I wonder if it would work
22:21 katsmeow-afk well, as thelandloord, the lord of your castle, you are partly legally responsible if he is annoying the neighbors
22:22 katsmeow-afk "see, there is a db contraption that averages the sound level, and it now hasto hear 11.67 hours of silence for it's average to reset the on/off of the power to your room"
22:25 katsmeow-afk wait till he is asleep, then play back the worst of it for 1/2 second at max volume ,, but warn the cats first
22:26 rue_house he likes it, thats why he is playing it
22:27 katsmeow-afk <blink> did that invalidate anything i said?
22:29 katsmeow-afk if he is asleep and blown out of the bed at 160db periodically...........
22:29 katsmeow-afk i dunno
22:43 katsmeow-afk are oil burner furnace nozzels a special thread?
22:53 rue_house not hat I know of
23:13 Tom_itx http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/190854169896?lpid=82
23:13 Tom_itx looks like a standard fitting
23:25 tsmeow-afk takes another break from turning steel into a breatheable floating-in-air
23:26 katsmeow-afk Tom, yeas, it does
