10:19 Tom_itx frickin blower motor
10:19 Tom_itx can't figure out why it doesn't start sometimes
10:19 Tom_itx manually starts the motor on high or low
10:21 Tom_itx checked the ontemp / overtemp device, checked the relay, checked the motor
10:21 Tom_itx and it's working for the moment
11:23 rue_house maybe the contacts that controll it are stuffed
11:50 Tom_itx i cleaned those
11:50 Tom_itx and also tried a new relay
11:55 rue_shop2 no I mean like the thermostat that should turn on the blower in the first place
11:55 rue_shop2 the house stat turns on the gas,
11:56 rue_shop2 the fan stat turns on the fan when the box heats up,
11:56 rue_shop2 the safety turns it all off if the box overheats
11:58 Tom_itx it's a new thermostat and i've also checked that
11:58 Tom_itx i checked the overheat safety switch too, it also turns on the fan blower at a lower temp
11:59 Tom_itx it cycled thru once today after i checked it again
11:59 Tom_itx now it's off for the day
11:59 Tom_itx it's such a simple circuit there's not much there to go wrong
14:55 rue_house just have to catch it in a failure and see whats wrong
14:55 rue_house stick some pilots on it in the meantime
18:17 rue_shop2 ready?
19:07 Tom_itx ready for what?
20:35 katsmeow-afk collect all your voltmeters and connect them everywhere there should be power to make the fan run, then when it doesn't run you can see at a glance where it stopped working
20:36 tsmeow-afk had to change out monitors, one in use here died,, this one is hard to focus on som
20:57 tsmeow-afk sighs,,, this just keeps on happening : A fire in the Bronx on Friday evening that killed three children was caused by candles that were apparently being used for light after power to the apartment was cut off because of unpaid b
20:59 rue_shop2 yup
20:59 rue_shop2 candles are the main cause of residential fires
21:00 Tom_itx i bet 20 yrs ago it would have been smoking in bed
21:02 Tom_itx http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1IDHIcyHLY&noredirect=1
21:03 katsmeow-afk it gets 10 secs in and crashes
21:07 katsmeow-afk i downloaded it, it won't play at all
21:09 tsmeow-afk tries one more
21:12 Tom_itx it's just a lathe
21:12 Tom_itx you've seen them
21:13 katsmeow-afk it plays as an mp3
21:13 katsmeow-afk 4
21:16 tsmeow-afk moved steel around today for the next
21:17 katsmeow-afk monday when everyone goes to work, i can clean up the edges with the grinder and do some welding
21:18 katsmeow-afk i have placed 5gal buckets of dirt on the steel plate to dampen vibrations, but it's still loud
21:19 katsmeow-afk tomorrow s prolly a good day to remove the underpowered gear motor from the east-west drive and attach a slower but more torquey gearmotor
21:20 katsmeow-afk the winch carriage itself rolls nicely, but the bridge across the driveway has a lot of sticktion, it's hard to get moving
21:21 katsmeow-afk i need to make a chain oiler too
21:23 rue_shop2 what design you gonna use, pick up wheel?
21:23 katsmeow-afk hmm?
21:23 rue_shop2 little wheel half sitting in oil
21:25 katsmeow-afk oh, prolly something more stupid, like a can of oil above the drive sprockets at each end of the bridge, with a lil hole in the bottom, fill it up occasionally and run it back and fortha few times
21:26 katsmeow-afk the system does lend itself to laying a trough on the chain supports, and letting the chain lay in a oil bath
21:27 katsmeow-afk the drive doesn't "use" oil, but if overoiled now it will drip all over everything below
21:27 katsmeow-afk so a feed that repeats in one spot will be overoiling, and a *fancy* system to lay oil the whole lengh once a month is overkill
21:29 katsmeow-afk and the chain is bicycle chain, 34ft on each side, dropping oil on it doesn't help, it need to be moving when oiled
21:30 tsmeow-afk ponders slicing some 3/4 pvc pipe length ways as the tr
21:31 katsmeow-afk i had a pic online so you could see how it works
21:35 katsmeow-afk ...
21:48 katsmeow-afk looking at the pics, i can lay in some 1" even
23:21 rue_shop2 kat, have you ever thought about ways to build a wire straightening machine?
23:22 rue_shop2 http://www.utilityproducts.com/content/up/en/articles/2012/08/model-ws1-wire-straightener/_jcr_content/leftcolumn/article/headerimage.img.jpg/1345733090374.jpg
23:22 rue_shop2 dosn't look hard
23:25 rue_shop2 heh, i have 10 harddrive head bearings I can use for it
23:28 katsmeow-afk any bearings would be ok
23:28 katsmeow-afk i used a few blocks of wood to straighten electric fence wire before winding up links for chain maille
23:47 katsmeow-afk if i use 64pcs 512megabyte memory modules, i can store 67,108,864 512byte FAT entries in ram, and do a brute force (like a wildmatch search) on the entire 67 million filenames in 1.3 seconds or so
23:48 katsmeow-afk that's only 32 gigabytes total
