00:03 rue_house !!! my two RGB leds arrived!
00:03 katsmeow-afk this tme of nite?!?
00:04 rue_house I forgot to open my ebay package
00:04 katsmeow-afk o
00:12 katsmeow-afk this poor chip's name is bigger than it is : SN74LVC1G125DBVRQTY
00:13 rue_house 125
00:13 rue_house ? quad 4:1 muxer?
00:13 rue_house dual
00:13 rue_house quad was 2:1
00:13 katsmeow-afk no, it's a 1-gate buffer with a tristate pin, 5 pins total
08:54 rue_house :) I was gonna say that....
15:33 katsmeow-afk teeths out
16:43 Tom_itx feel better?
16:43 katsmeow-afk the shot is still working, so actually, not feeling yet
16:45 katsmeow-afk i will be hurting tho, it took 30 min to get the to one out, he had to cut it into 3rds to remove it
16:45 katsmeow-afk the bottom one broke first time he touched it, it came right out
16:48 katsmeow-afk he wrote me 16 Loritabs and some amoxicillin, so he expects me to be hurting later too
16:49 katsmeow-afk i didn't tell him i stocked the empty alcohol cabinet with cheap wine, vodka, and really cheap kahlua
16:50 katsmeow-afk funny thing tho, the gums and the tooths were not infected or swollen in any way
16:51 katsmeow-afk the tops of the teeth had so many drillings, there wasn't enough to save them, these were drilled like every 8 yrs or so since i was 14(?)
16:52 katsmeow-afk none of my small teeth have any problems, only the molars, and i suspect because they got so crammed together when my "wisdom" teeth came in... they pushed forwards so hard that two of my front teeth rotated
16:53 katsmeow-afk that is, two on top and two on bottom
16:54 tsmeow-afk simply had more teeths wanting to be in her mouth than her mouth had room
16:56 katsmeow-afk so i go to get the script filled, there's 4 people working the pharmacy, takes 28 minutes to hand it to me, and that's after the dentist office called it in a 2nd time
17:41 katsmeow-afk holy carp :
17:41 katsmeow-afk Hello :) I'm trying to make this code working:
17:41 katsmeow-afk {{#if:{{{a|}}}{{{b|}}}{{{c|}}}|<abbr title="{{#if:{{{a|}}}|{{{a}}}{{#tag:nowiki|?}} {{#if:{{{b|}}}|{{{b}}}}}{{#if:{{{c|}}}|, {{{c}}}}}">{{{d}}}{{#if:{{{a|}}}{{{b|}}}{{{c|}}}|</abbr>}}}}
17:41 katsmeow-afk and I've got errors.
18:29 Tom_itx needs a few ;
18:29 Tom_itx seriously?
18:30 katsmeow-afk i copy/pasted it here
18:31 katsmeow-afk i have no clue what it's supposed to do, but it resembles Lisp, which is why i don't do Lisp
18:31 Tom_itx looks like too many {} for me to figure otu
18:31 Tom_itx out
18:32 katsmeow-afk yep, and if that is the focus of writing the program, thn it's not programming any more
18:32 Tom_itx makes me dizzy looking at it
18:33 tsmeow-afk ate a Lortab, it's different than eating a L
18:33 Tom_itx i think i still have a bottle of em from the last tooth
18:36 katsmeow-afk they go bad over time, i dunno the time rating tho
18:49 katsmeow-afk http://www.latimes.com/media/acrobat/2009-01/44374653.pdf
18:49 katsmeow-afk after looking at the land scarfed up by the Marianas national monument, i can understand better why China is fighting Japan over it's islands, and why Russia claims the center of the Arctic Ocean
19:25 katsmeow-afk <John Conner> nice ice scupture, Cameron, but i asked for a water bucket, not a water bouquet
19:25 katsmeow-afk 6* Cameron beats John with the ice flowers
19:25 rue_house he
19:26 Tom_itx wonder if i can get my template to do rigid tapping now
19:27 Tom_itx and single point thread cycle
19:27 rue_house katsmeow-afk, is that a form of BF code?
19:28 rue_house threading on a cnc!?
19:28 rue_house :S
19:28 Tom_itx absolutely
19:28 rue_house isn't there a head to help with that
19:28 katsmeow-afk it's wikipedia "code"
19:28 Tom_itx no need with rigid tapping
19:28 rue_house looks like BF
19:28 Tom_itx there are cheater heads though
19:28 rue_house ++++++++++[>+++++++>++++++++++>+++>+<<<<-]>++.>+.+++++++..+++.>++.<<+++++++++++++++.>.+++.------.--------.>+.>.
19:29 Tom_itx rue_house, synchronized spindle motion
19:30 Tom_itx G33.1 will reverse it too though
19:30 katsmeow-afk rue: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Village_pump_%28technical%29#Parser_function_with_special_tags
19:30 Tom_itx where G33 will go single direction for single point
19:30 rue_house do you have an encoder on the spindle?
19:30 Tom_itx i don't have a cnc lathe
19:30 Tom_itx but yes they do
19:30 Tom_itx with an index
19:31 rue_house ah, I thoguht it was for your machine
19:31 Tom_itx 2 purposed
19:31 Tom_itx one, i wanted to learn about the lathe package since i never use it
19:31 rue_house I have to go pull the exh header out of the truck again
19:31 Tom_itx and the 2nd is to code a part for someone
19:31 rue_house weld it tommorow
19:32 rue_house put it back in the day or two after that
19:32 Tom_itx i got it all working last night i think
19:32 katsmeow-afk can you weld it in the truck? cast iron warps badly when welded, it may not fit any more
19:32 Tom_itx all the convoluted steps i went thru to the the profile, i struggled to get the axis oriented right
19:33 katsmeow-afk in fact, cast warps SO badly, it can warp away from the weld itself within minutes
19:33 rue_house no
19:33 rue_house its not cast, thats why I have to weld it
19:33 Tom_itx they didn't think i could use a 3d model for a 2d part
19:33 Tom_itx :D
19:33 Tom_itx turns out that's what worked
19:34 rue_house katsmeow-afk, it still warps to hell tho
19:34 katsmeow-afk k
19:34 rue_house gonna be interested to see what broke last time
19:34 rue_house I heat treated it and everythign
19:37 katsmeow-afk if it's steel, what if you made a copy of the block (with bolt holes) to set on the bench and work on the manifold? that way you'll know it cools while held in the proper places
19:38 katsmeow-afk or, for the ultimate in alignment, come off the block with some 2 or 3 inch pipes, with sloppy flanges to bolt to the manifold
19:39 katsmeow-afk that way you could also pull the manifld real easy later to run water pipes thru it
19:54 rue_shop2 HAAHA! I ROCK!
19:55 rue_shop2 my WELDING isn't what failed!
19:55 rue_shop2 it didn't seat against the engine properly and one of the bolts came loose
19:55 katsmeow-afk warpage
19:56 rue_shop2 I see the sign of a small hole in my welding, but I'm not worried about it
19:56 katsmeow-afk paint over the sign :-)
19:59 katsmeow-afk oh carp, i just discovered why we have ARM cpus, in Terminator 2 movie, the terminator had to use a crowbar to break free of the chain drive on a conveyor system, the arm John Conner threw into the melting pit was the one they recovered from Cyberdyne that was left from T1 movie, so the ARM cpu we have now is from...........
19:59 katsmeow-afk <drum roll>
20:00 katsmeow-afk the arm left at the end of the T2 movie!
20:00 katsmeow-afk in the conveyor chain!
20:03 katsmeow-afk no?
21:33 rue_house heh
21:33 rue_house I think your right
21:44 katsmeow-afk on which thing?
21:45 rue_house the arm
21:45 katsmeow-afk :-)
21:47 katsmeow-afk so tell me again why chains are not used in piston engines instead of crankshafts?
21:47 katsmeow-afk besides they wear out fast
21:47 katsmeow-afk what other reason?
21:49 rue_house instead?
21:50 rue_house how does that work
21:51 katsmeow-afk O============O
21:51 katsmeow-afk connect the bottom of the pushrod to the chain
21:52 katsmeow-afk the "crank" then can turn several times during the same piston stroke
21:52 katsmeow-afk [piston]---------------O========O
21:53 rue_house I'm going to say its the steampunk effect, when the engines were first invented, the technology to produce the chain accurtly wasn't there, nobody ever changed the design
21:53 katsmeow-afk ahh
21:54 rue_house my question is why are we still using internal combustion engines
21:55 katsmeow-afk see, i am thinking, if the piston stroke is longer, more power comes out of it, making it more efficent, and/or more powerful, and keeps the push at the outer edge of what would be the crank's throw,, and everything issymetrical, there are no actual offset "throws" in the "crank", so it runs smooooooooooooooooooooothly
21:56 rue_house I wonder if gun powder is more affordable than gas
21:56 katsmeow-afk internal bangers get more power per cylinder space than a steam engine, but the question might also be why would a steam engine use water?
21:56 katsmeow-afk cola powder is definiately cheaper than gas
21:56 katsmeow-afk coa
21:57 katsmeow-afk l
21:57 katsmeow-afk i know a way to get 1000 lbs of push on a pushrod, and at only 100F
21:58 katsmeow-afk best use tho is not with a crank, and is normally with a triple expansion engine, which weighs a LOT and is very very bulky
21:58 katsmeow-afk and steam piston engines tend to be slow rpm
21:59 katsmeow-afk ideally, i'd have a rotary vane pump, but at such torque the vanes snap off
21:59 rue_house steam tesla turbine?
22:00 katsmeow-afk nope, they been shown to be as inefficient as any other turbine i could make
22:00 rue_house oh, where did I get that telsa turbines can be up to like 80%?
22:01 e_house flags the fact as sus
22:02 katsmeow-afk the gotcha with a chain drive, which isn't normally a problem with most 1 or 2 piston steam engines, is the chain design can drive only at the end of the "crank"shaft
22:02 rue_house ever seen a union that didn't leak?
22:02 katsmeow-afk in a car, the tendency is to use many cylinders, whoich would mean man y "crank"shafts
22:03 katsmeow-afk yeas, rubber O rings
22:03 rue_house opposing pistons
22:03 katsmeow-afk oppoed piston is still two cranks
22:03 rue_house one crank... opposing pistons, trying to make the chain fit
22:04 katsmeow-afk drive opposite sides of the chain
22:04 katsmeow-afk still, two cranks
22:04 katsmeow-afk the chain cannot go in just one direction, it loopes around each crank just to turn around
22:05 rue_house seen ratcheting bearings from copiers?
22:06 katsmeow-afk yeas, know why sloppy bearings and non-hydraulic lifters wear out real fast?
22:06 rue_house I didn't know, but ok
22:06 katsmeow-afk the impact, like in a ratchet cam
22:07 rue_house they use round rollers to do it, not acual ratchets
22:07 katsmeow-afk they still make and break contact
22:07 katsmeow-afk the space the roller is in is tapered
22:07 rue_house I want to make a 'steam' engine
22:07 katsmeow-afk i NEED to
22:08 rue_house I think I have some stainless pipe I could use for cylinders
22:08 katsmeow-afk gas is going over $4/gal again this yr, and soon, diesel may hit $5
22:08 katsmeow-afk i have some 8" pipe
22:08 rue_house were paying $1.30/L
22:09 rue_house $4.92/gal
22:10 katsmeow-afk pisses me off, people cannot afford the $4 gas, the usa is opening more oil exploration lands, and pumping more natural gas to offset the gasoline and diesel, so the oil companies simply export the oil to China
22:10 rue_house we export ours to the usa
22:10 katsmeow-afk i didn't say it was a good idea
22:10 rue_house I wonder what I could make a crank with
22:11 katsmeow-afk coal and oil are being exported out of Miss, Al, and Tx, and if that pipeline from Canadia gets pushed thru, Canadia will also be seling out of the usa souther state to other counties,, none of it will stop here and lower prices,, in usa of Can
22:11 katsmeow-afk or can
22:12 tsmeow-afk AAARRRGGGSS
22:13 rue_house imagine what happens when a disaster takes out 2/3 of the refineries
22:13 katsmeow-afk no, i refuse
22:13 rue_house nobody grows their own food anymore
22:13 rue_house so, instant disaster
22:13 katsmeow-afk my imagnation is best used for othe things :-)
22:13 rue_house mhm
22:13 rue_house so dont cmplain, we pay more than you do
22:14 katsmeow-afk hell, no one is allowed to grow their food, i am not the only one that dogs have forced an end to gardenings
22:15 katsmeow-afk the humans adjoining my far property line, the ones i never hear from, had 2 lots over there, one was for gardening,,,, they can't
22:15 katsmeow-afk ditto some up the road, and they had to sell their horses too
22:16 katsmeow-afk microwave says dinner is done,, bbiaf
22:19 rue_house I'm going to turn in early today
22:19 rue_house I'v done my usefull thing
22:37 katsmeow-afk bak, pasta, not bad only 8hrs after having two molars yanked
22:39 katsmeow-afk rue, think: if you take a crank with a 3.5" stroke, like a 350 car engine, and replace the throws with 3.5" dia sprocket, and the O======O chain drive so one stroke = 2 crank rev, the engine can deliver a massively longer and flatter torque curve
22:40 katsmeow-afk but, i don't see how you can run a chain except at the ends of the crank
22:41 tsmeow-afk needs a pile of identical gears strong enough to do this trick
23:02 katsmeow-afk you kno what that means? time to tear down 50 transmissions from riding mowers :-/
23:08 katsmeow-afk 4 gears, 4 sprockets, per cyl ,, think might have just figured out why no one does it this way
