21:29 TELunus Hmm, apperantly windows 7 is supposed to have a 100mb hidden system partition with the boot folder in it. I'm running windows 7, but my boot folder is in C:/.
21:30 rue_mohr ah
21:33 TELunus There's a method of getting my linux back that involvs running bcdedit.exe, but that gives me an error the solution to which is apperantly to unhide the system partion by giving it a drive letter.
21:38 rue_mohr shall I go back to saying dont dual boot?
21:50 TELunus I don't have enough good computers to not dual boot. Also I have 2 hard drives, which is at least better than just using one with 2 OSs on it.
21:52 rue_mohr yes, you need a hard drive switch
21:52 rue_mohr windows cant know anything else exists
21:53 TELunus If you have a spare graphics card I can start running windows and linux on different computers.
21:59 rue_mohr what kinda card?
22:03 TELunus anything pcie to vga or dvi.
22:05 TELunus I think my best bet is to find a way to get linux booted on this computer, and then try to fix or replace the install on it though. However I can't run a live CD because this computer dosn't have an optical drive. Also usb stick installs seem to always be failing.
22:06 TELunus The bcdedit thing is to do this thing ubuntu came up with where you can install linux on a hard drive from windows without formating the hard drive.
22:08 rue_mohr I have no pcie, try freegeek

22:40 TELunus I suppose I could use a pci->dvi in my new computer and run linux in here with my nice CPU and ram, and then put my nice pcie graphics card in my old computer(which has a broken pci bus) and run windows on that(windows needs a good graphics card for games)
23:09 rue_bed you should go to freegeek, see what they have
