00:03 iamturnip I imagine there is chesp stuff that does the same thing now, but this stuff looks so impressive
00:09 rue_house tektronics are good
00:09 iamturnip yea but you can get all this stuff dirty cheap now and USB ;)
00:09 rue_house that said, that one is REALLY old
00:09 rue_house oh its a logic analizer
00:09 rue_house the scopes are good
00:09 iamturnip there is all sorts of things there
00:09 iamturnip you can check it out when you come over
00:10 e_house dr
00:10 rue_house katsmeow-afk,
00:10 iamturnip ok tiem for sleep
00:10 katsmeow-afk yeassir?
00:10 iamturnip ttyl
00:10 rue_house http://thehackery.ca/scope
00:10 rue_house check em out!
00:11 rue_house so two pluggable scopes
00:12 rue_house iamturnip, I have a module for a tektronics scope that I'm trying to get working to make a rudimentrary digital scope
00:13 katsmeow-afk i have a http://thehackery.ca/scope/IMG_1809.JPG
00:13 rue_house http://thehackery.ca/scope/IMG_1805.JPG is that a 'digital scope' of its day?
00:14 katsmeow-afk depends on how you defined "digital", tehre were plugins in the 1960's to store and display ghz signals on old tube scopes
00:15 katsmeow-afk you going tobuy it?
00:15 rue_house dunno what it can do
00:16 rue_house my analog is 25Mhz
00:16 rue_house I'm guessing those scopes, even as old as they are, are better
00:16 katsmeow-afk http://www.barrytech.com/tektronix/tek7612d.html
00:16 rue_house but I'm also thinking it would be nice to make a digital scope out of a whole scope
00:18 rue_house looks like HP data link on the back
00:18 katsmeow-afk The Tektronix 7612D is a digitizer that takes 7000-series plug-ins. It has a vertical bandwidth of 80MHz. The sample rate is 200Msamp/sec. It uses and electron-bombarded semiconductor sensor as the digitizer, a form of scan converter.
00:18 rue_house I cant recall if those can be shimmied into serial or not
00:18 rue_house oh my
00:19 rue_house couldn't hack it into something a quarter of the capability
00:19 katsmeow-afk some scopes used a ordinary IEEE-488 buss, the protocol is standard sturr, you can convert it to serial easily, but there's a lot of control lines
00:19 rue_house hmm
00:19 katsmeow-afk why would you hack it *down* ?
00:20 rue_house I wouldn't
00:20 katsmeow-afk 488, aka HPIB, is 8-bit data-parallel
00:20 rue_house unless that was the only way to talk to it
00:20 rue_house schematics are prolly avilable eh?
00:20 katsmeow-afk i haven't found them yet, but i know a guy who has a ebay store who might have them, and if not then he'll look for you
00:22 katsmeow-afk http://www.labx.com/v2/spiderdealer2/vistaSearchDetails.cfm?LVid=3810341 <<== someone else
00:23 katsmeow-afk my puter is bogging down, too much running onit
00:24 rue_house not into paying a bunch more for tek parts
00:24 katsmeow-afk ArtekMedia on ebay
00:24 rue_house the dig scope thing is WAY over budget
00:25 rue_house but I'm headed over to that guys place, so
00:25 katsmeow-afk http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=tektronix+manual+7612D&_sacat=0&_odkw=tektronix+manual&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313
00:26 katsmeow-afk tell Artek you would like to dl the manual, he'll either email it or give you a http/ftp address, and not charge you for the CD or s&h
00:26 rue_house I'll bet its available 24.7 from a russian ftp site somewhere
00:26 rue_house oh I'm late for bed!
00:27 katsmeow-afk to use the digitising scope, i believe you need all programmable plugins, like the 7A16P
00:27 katsmeow-afk thee's two 7612D on ebay atm, $1500 and $3,995
00:28 katsmeow-afk there's some Tek 2212's on ebay too, $50
00:28 katsmeow-afk i know nothing about them
00:29 katsmeow-afk oh, 20MSPS , way slow on the digital side
00:31 rue_house oh, that would do my tho
00:31 rue_house remember, I'm looking for mechanical responces
00:31 tsmeow-afk
00:31 katsmeow-afk ok, ebay search for Tektronix 2212
00:32 katsmeow-afk it has no plugins tho
00:32 rue_house so turnips one with the plugins is pretty good them
00:33 katsmeow-afk the one with 2 plugins? it's better than the 2212's, i dunno if it's pretty good for what you wanna do or not
00:34 katsmeow-afk but if they sell for $1500 on ebay, you won't get it cheap
00:34 katsmeow-afk course, then, i got each of my 7104's for $50
00:35 katsmeow-afk but i didn't get the -P plugins that you will prolly need for the 7612D
00:38 rue_house ok bedtime
00:58 katsmeow-afk shall i leave?
09:08 rue_house what up?
09:08 Tom_itx i added z-log
09:08 Tom_itx it's a new bot to play with for a bit
09:08 rue_house k
09:08 Tom_itx z-log list
09:08 z-log Tom_itx: Admin, Channel, ChannelLogger, Config, Math, Misc, Owner, Plugin, Protector, Seen, Time, and User
09:08 rue_house what different
09:08 rue_house ah
09:08 Tom_itx z-log calc 2*2
09:08 z-log Tom_itx: 4
09:08 Tom_itx z-log time
09:08 z-log Tom_itx: 08:59 AM, March 26, 2012
09:08 Tom_itx i haven't figured it all out yet
09:09 rue_house :)
09:09 Tom_itx z-log sqrt(255)
09:09 Tom_itx z-log calc sqrt(255)
09:09 z-log Tom_itx: 15.9687194227
09:09 Tom_itx it has a message system too
09:09 Tom_itx so if i wanna tell you something and you're not here you can get messages
09:09 Tom_itx i haven't figured that out either
13:12 Tom_itx cool that seems to work
13:32 Tom_itx @seen tom_L
13:32 Tom_itx @ seen tom_L
13:32 Tom_itx @ list
13:32 Tom_itx mmm

13:34 Tom_itx yeah i know, the database is empty
13:36 Tom_itx @seen

13:36 Tom_itx ok so that won't conflict with tobbor now
