11:27 AM mikee is now known as saxicola
11:35 AM josuah: rue_mohr: yay :D
04:00 PM specing_ is now known as specing
04:53 PM expon is now known as exp
04:55 PM bpye1 is now known as bpye
05:56 PM WormFood: interesting power pin arrangement on that Tiny26. IF you plug it into the socket backwards, the power pins are still right. I've seen some audio amplifiers, in a SIP package, that have an odd number of pins, and the power pins are on the outside, and the middle pin...and the 2 amplifiers, are mirror images, so you literally can't plug it in backwards.
05:59 PM cehteh: now make your design and firmware in a way that orientation doesnt matter!
06:00 PM cehteh: connect pa0 with reset and use any other pin pair (pb0/pa7) to detect the orientation
06:01 PM qu1j0t3: :)
06:01 PM cehteh: mhm diode from rst to pa0 may already do that!
06:21 PM WormFood: yeah, that shouldn't be too hard to do.
06:21 PM WormFood: at least, it should be doable.
06:25 PM cehteh: ultimate hardwar easter egg is when you never notice it even in presence of errors
06:28 PM WormFood: That is how I found out about that audio amp ic, is because someone had put it in backwards, and I'm thinking it shouldn't work...but I can't dispute the fact that it did work, so I looked up that IC
06:28 PM cehteh: i seen such things fes times
06:29 PM WormFood: yeah, me too, but not often
06:30 PM cehteh: in analog land thats prolly trivial esp for double/quadrouple chips (amps etc) you just mirror the mask and done
06:30 PM WormFood: yeah. I've noticed it before in other ICs, but not often.
06:31 PM WormFood: but, I did once plug in an at90s8515 backwards, and I didn't notice for like 10-15 minutes. It was hot as hell. I was 100% sure it was fried, but no, I plug it in the right way, and it worked.
06:32 PM cehteh: lol
06:33 PM cehteh: how do you like your avr? -> Well Done!
06:34 PM WormFood: They're one hell of a tough piece of silicon.
06:35 PM WormFood: I have one AT90S8515 here, that I have labeled, that I think the USART may be bad. But I don't remember ever frying one, after abusing the hell out of them.
06:36 PM WormFood: Never had one I couldn't recover. I've played so much with them, and put so many different things into the fuses, I've had them where you couldn't program them....without special options given to avrdude
08:37 PM rue_mohr: two different programs on the tiny26, depending on which way you plug it in :)
08:37 PM rue_mohr: haha
08:45 PM qu1j0t3: :D
08:46 PM qu1j0t3: that's... wicked. the wicked we expect from rue_mohr
09:17 PM rue_mohr: haha
09:18 PM rue_mohr: you should see the things I'v done to a 555
09:18 PM rue_mohr: did you?
09:18 PM rue_mohr: I have a new low eh?
09:18 PM rue_mohr: have you seen it?
09:23 PM qu1j0t3: rue_mohr: yeah i catch up on some of your doings on twitter.
09:24 PM rue_mohr: oh
09:24 PM qu1j0t3: :)
