11:11 AM mouseghost: ever scavenged gsm modules from phones?
11:34 AM nohit: nope
11:34 AM nohit: but i have gprs module
11:43 AM mouseghost: hm
11:44 AM mouseghost: i opened my old phone
11:44 AM mouseghost: and it has soc with 0 information on the net -.-
11:49 AM cehteh_: of course, also certification depends on the entire phone, it s certainly BGA mounted needs some rather complicated PCB design and connecting antennas properly is black magic
11:51 AM cehteh_: with some luck you can reuse a old phone as is, install lineageos or some other free rom with no bloatware, use the screen, usb and modem to interface something
12:03 PM mouseghost: cehteh_, too late :D
12:03 PM mouseghost: also, thats not cost effective
12:03 PM mouseghost: getting a gsm module is cheaper than that
12:03 PM cehteh_: yeah
12:03 PM cehteh_: well reusing old phones can have some promises, but not scavenging them
12:04 PM mouseghost: ;-;
12:04 PM twnqx: yeah, forget about that
12:05 PM cehteh_: you uahve a reasonable good display, lots of memory and gsm, if thats only a frontend for some weatherstation or some similar projects thats really nice then
12:05 PM twnqx: so, close your phone again and sell it on ebay :P
12:05 PM cehteh_: plus batery/usv
12:06 PM cehteh_: sell it as "repair kit with all parts" :D
12:14 PM mouseghost: i just wanted GSM tbh :D
12:14 PM mouseghost: i need remote connectivity ;p
12:20 PM twnqx: grab a quectel m95
12:21 PM twnqx: 7€ or so
12:21 PM twnqx: oops, he's gone
01:24 PM LeoNerd: 🙌 My ATmega4809 is blinking an LED. This is a good sign
01:24 PM LeoNerd: And it talks UART
01:48 PM LeoNerd: Woo, all pins OK
08:36 PM rue_mohr: :)
