08:30 AM Kabriel: Anyone have experience with these cheap signal generators?
08:37 AM Kabriel: like https://www.amazon.com/Generator-DROK-1Hz-150kHz-Adjustable-Frequency/dp/B07P848DYQ
08:37 AM cehteh: using for what?
09:07 AM Kabriel: what is a good brand / good place to buy a real signal generator
09:16 AM LeoNerd: Depends how "real" you want
09:16 AM LeoNerd: 1Hz to 150kHz is nothing very high.. even the cheapest DDS units tend to go up into a MHz or so
09:40 AM cehteh: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B07WLQ6ZNK/
09:40 AM cehteh: is what i have, pretty much good enough for all my use cases
12:00 PM rue_bed: not those ones
12:00 PM rue_bed: LM555?
12:02 PM rue_bed: I got one of https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000364689168.html
12:02 PM rue_bed: and its ok, but it glitches when it needs to beep
12:04 PM cehteh: predcessor/smalelr on that mine
12:05 PM cehteh: these cheap function generators generally work but have some aliasing artifacts because of their sample rate
12:08 PM rue_bed: I was kinda amused when I opened it and saw the DAC resistor array
12:14 PM cehteh: yeah i seen schematics of that, the older versions use a fpga driving a resistor array directly
12:14 PM cehteh: mine has dedicated dacs
08:38 PM solidus-river: hey all, i used a dragon to program some chips back in college and am trying to gear back up to do some microcontroller work but I see the dragon has been discontinued and it looks like the pickit3/4 dont have good avrdude or oss support?
08:38 PM solidus-river: is the pickit4 friendly to avrdude and other open tools or what is the best programmer to jump back in with, i'd like to avoid being locked to a specific ide
