01:36 PM zutat: good evening. i'm having an issue with avrdude and avr isp mk2 on ubuntu 18.04 (usbdev_open() fails). possibly a permission issue. any help?
01:38 PM zutat: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/9vk6YF5Hc4/
01:40 PM Fuchikoma: I've never used avrdude with only one command line option. Are you sure that's enough?
01:43 PM zutat: Fuchikoma: it's not enough. that's why i put the three dots as placeholder there
01:44 PM Fuchikoma: pretty sure you need to use the -P switch
01:46 PM Fuchikoma: try something like: avrdude -c avrisp2 -p [partid] -P usb:xx -v
01:46 PM Fuchikoma: Insert your own partid, though not sure if that's really needed
02:07 PM zutat: it was a permission problem. adding a new udev rule solved it
02:07 PM Fuchikoma: okie doke
02:10 PM zutat: Fuchikoma: thanks for support
02:10 PM PoppaVic: those perm issues get really annoying. decades later.. On a server? Maybe.. On a multiuser? Possible.. On a home machine - ridiculous.
02:11 PM zutat: PoppaVic: yeah. it's not easy to keep track on how to handle the permissions
02:51 PM PoppaVic: yeah.. I don't see an issue on yer lappy home-machine to use yer own damned usb, printer, modem, etc ;-)
