07:21 AM polprog: hello byte_warrior
09:30 AM Smashcat: Hi - anyone know if I need to connect AREF to GND via a cap, if I'm not using the ADC?
09:31 AM Smashcat: Oops, meant to add, this in an an ATMega168
09:54 AM cehteh: wont make much difference, wont hurt
09:54 AM cehteh: not neccessary
09:55 AM cehteh: but its more about if you use the reference voltage, thats not only the ADC but also the brownout detector
09:55 AM cehteh: (still that has some noise filtering and hystersis, when you want to save 1 cent and parts no need to add the cap)
10:53 AM Smashcat: Cheers, yep I've just been testing here, and doesn't seem like it needs it. It's not so much about the cost, it's lack of space on this PCB. I could put one in, but the tracks would be a bit awkward :)
10:54 AM cehteh: then leave it out
10:55 AM cehteh: but dont forget the 100nF one at vcc depending on what you drive maybe even more or a 2nd biggier one
10:55 AM cehteh: physically as close as possible to VCC
11:42 AM Smashcat: Yeah the rest of the board has bypass and filter caps.
