12:21 AM Casper: ferdna: probably fine, usually the "no code" is "nop" so will still execute it
12:24 AM ferdna: Casper, i am not sure... maybe it is expected to load the bootloader at that address...
12:24 AM ferdna: if i nop it wont run
12:24 AM Casper: so you are missing a piece of code, or it is normal
12:24 AM Casper: try and see what happend
12:24 AM ferdna: i dont think is missing code... i think is just missaligned to the start of file..
12:24 AM day__ is now known as daey
12:26 AM _ami_: ferdna, how are you flashing stm32? via stlink or serially?
12:27 AM ferdna: _ami_, http://www.emcu.it/ST-LINKv2/ST-LINK-v2-ISOL.png
12:29 AM _ami_: ferdna, okay. so whats the command you give to upload the firmware?
12:29 AM ferdna: _ami_, hmmm... i use the windows program
12:29 AM ferdna: i just click erase
12:29 AM ferdna: then flash and verify
12:29 AM ferdna: or program and verify
12:29 AM ferdna: _ami_, you can see the screenshot here: https://imgur.com/a/7XG7q
12:29 AM _ami_: generally on linux, i do st-flash write firmware.bin 0x08000000 to write to 0x08000000 address in flash
12:29 AM ferdna: ohh let me try it
12:30 AM ferdna: _ami_, can i pv msg?
12:30 AM _ami_: sure
01:31 AM _ami_: fake chinese caps: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DDqYfcsXYAAafOS.jpg :P
01:31 AM rue_house: :) yea that ones been around for a while
01:32 AM rue_house: you know, the funny thing is, in most cases it would get by long enough nobody would notice
01:32 AM _ami_: thats true
01:33 AM rue_house: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/images/096_badfix.jpg
01:34 AM rue_house: this was something I found when I was doing repair
01:34 AM rue_house: the guy couldn't fit the replacement cap in, so ran like 4" wires to one
01:35 AM dgriffi: seems like that would cause problems
01:35 AM rue_house: it dosn't help the high freq impedence!
01:37 AM Casper: that fake cap may not be a fake cap actually
01:37 AM rue_house: the crimps are riveted in
01:37 AM rue_house: I'm sold its a fake
01:37 AM Casper: there is some retrofiting of caps to keep the old look
01:37 AM Casper: and it may have been one of those
01:38 AM Casper: the fact that it is not a chinese cap inside tend to also go with that
01:38 AM Casper: you know, rubycon isn't the cheapest brand
01:38 AM Casper: far from it
01:38 AM rue_house: yea, I was going to say, "atleast its a rubycon"
01:38 AM rue_house: but it could be a fake
01:39 AM Casper: it could be
01:39 AM Casper: but nobody could show where that image was first posted
01:39 AM Casper: all there is is repost
01:39 AM rue_house: that image was around back in 2001
01:40 AM rue_house: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/images/dscn0830_maybe-a-thru-rd.jpg
01:40 AM rue_house: this is what happens when people cant read
02:45 AM daey: rue_bed: maybe its a Matryoshka fake :P
04:16 AM polprog: Emil: i agree
04:16 AM Emil: polprog: on what?
04:16 AM polprog: in the prot functionality overrides
04:16 AM Emil: Ah the port thing
04:16 AM Emil: yeah
04:28 AM polprog: rue_house: maybe that road is painted on a wall? http://www.insideedition.com/images/stories/1603/15350.jpg
04:29 AM Emil: polprog: :DD
04:30 AM Haohmaru: meep meep
04:31 AM polprog: https://www.moillusions.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/cartoon_tunnel.jpg this is better
04:31 AM polprog: :P
04:31 AM Emil: polprog: what the heck
04:32 AM Haohmaru: that looks photoshopped
04:32 AM Haohmaru: or even MSPainted
04:32 AM polprog: probably is
05:52 AM polprog: https://puu.sh/xG23u/5fdcdbe6f9.jpg
05:52 AM polprog: any way to open those without breaking them?
05:56 AM Snert__: they usually have clips along the sides. you can take the top part off.
05:57 AM Snert__: used to fix connectors like that by clamping it in a vise and applying superglue to the top strap/clip thinger.
05:58 AM polprog: i noticed, but i cant get them to open
05:58 AM polprog: a vise might be woth a try
05:58 AM Snert__: bigger hammer and smaller screwdriver.
05:58 AM Snert__: more force that is on the pry it off/unclip.
05:58 AM Haohmaru: mm, i love it when a given job requires a bigger hammer >:)
05:59 AM polprog: shite, one's down
05:59 AM Snert__: the vise was useful for when the connector had already fallen apart due to stress/strain.
06:00 AM Snert__: hold it all together until the sglue dries.
06:01 AM polprog: the problem is that i cant push the side clips to unclip the strain relief part
06:01 AM Snert__: go look at digikey how a replacement connector goes together.
06:01 AM Snert__: you'll get it.
06:02 AM Snert__: insulation displacement IDC connector.
06:03 AM polprog: i see, but still
06:03 AM polprog: i have to push the topmost piece's clips to free it
06:03 AM polprog: right?
06:21 AM polprog: great, no dice with thei tiny 6 pin ones.. the plastic is such crap that it falls apart
06:21 AM polprog: but the 40 pin ide cable came apart easily...
06:21 AM polprog: i wanted to make a proper ISP cable outta those :/
06:22 AM MrCircuitMatt: I know this is not what you asked but I'd just crimp on a new connector
06:22 AM polprog: yeah, im trying to save myself a trip to the shop
06:22 AM polprog: ill just order new ones
06:23 AM MrCircuitMatt: I understand, I'm about as cheap :-)
06:24 AM LeoNerd: "a trip to the shop" - I don't know where in London I'd find a shop I could buy that sort of connector any more
06:24 AM LeoNerd: Physical shops for this kind of thing just don't exist. I'd order it on amazon/ebay/etc..
06:24 AM polprog: in warsaw, i know two places
06:24 AM polprog: maybe three, the third one is a street market
06:25 AM polprog: happening every weekend
06:25 AM MrCircuitMatt: I'd know 2.25 places in Zurich too but meh
06:42 AM polprog: all strain reliefs broke, but at least i can cripm something
06:42 AM polprog: crimp*
06:47 AM MrCircuitMatt: bah strain reliefs
06:47 AM MrCircuitMatt: somehow every other time I do this I'm so absent minded that I put it on backwards such that the strain relief does not relieve strain
08:38 AM polprog: new ISP cable: https://puu.sh/xG5cr/98fe7a007e.jpg
08:38 AM polprog: way better than the old one
08:38 AM polprog: ping Emil
08:40 AM Haohmaru: mine are fixed male pins
08:40 AM Haohmaru: i mean SIL headers
09:20 AM rue_house: heh
09:20 AM rue_house: computer front panel cable, multiple blacks
09:20 AM rue_house: eeevil...
09:21 AM rue_house: http://quaternions.online/
09:35 AM bss36504: quaternions kind of hurt my brain
09:35 AM bss36504: Thats a nice tool to see wtf is going on
09:39 AM cehteh: just consider them as math-black-box :D
10:31 AM Emil: hm
