[07:46:19] <Emil> lawncat wat?
09:50 AM enhering: Hi. Good Sunday.
10:08 AM sebus: enhering o/
10:45 AM Lambda_Aurigae: it is sunday alright
10:46 AM Lambda_Aurigae: gotta go back to w*rk tomorrow.
12:46 PM Lambda_Aurigae: http://hackaday.com/2017/02/12/tiny-led-earrings-are-a-miniaturization-tour-de-force/
12:47 PM Lambda_Aurigae: Jartza should get a kick out of that.
12:50 PM Casper: I hope they have a good plug for the battery! it would be quite expensive to run them!
02:18 PM MrSheesh is now known as Mr_Sheesh
02:46 PM taylor_: I am trying to build a frequency counter with an attiny13. I found this: http://www.atmel.com/Images/doc8365.pdf but it requires an external clock source. All the pins are already committed to other purposes. Can it be done or do I need to select a different chip?
02:57 PM Lambda_Aurigae: you could run it on the internal RC oscillator.
02:57 PM Lambda_Aurigae: just remember that accuracy will go out the window.
02:58 PM Lambda_Aurigae: the RC oscillator will drift with voltage and temperature.
02:58 PM taylor_: I'm not terribly concerned about accuracy. +/- 5% is plenty accurate.
02:58 PM Lambda_Aurigae: wouldn't guarantee that.
02:58 PM Lambda_Aurigae: also, I think your max internal RC clock speed is like 8MHz
02:59 PM Emil: Lambda_Aurigae: what core did that attiny have?
03:00 PM Emil: 25/45/85 can go up to in theory 32MHz
03:00 PM Emil: in practice 28MHz
03:00 PM Lambda_Aurigae: ok.
03:00 PM Emil: on internal rc
03:00 PM Lambda_Aurigae: I'm not the one building it Emil
03:00 PM Emil: I know
03:00 PM Emil: just saying ;)
03:01 PM Lambda_Aurigae: aahh...reading through that appnote..it uses the internal RC oscillator AND an external clock source for the timer/counter
03:01 PM Lambda_Aurigae: so, taylor_, will need another chip or another input pin...and that input pin is very specific.
03:06 PM taylor_: For accuracy, it may be best to re-evaluate the other pins and decide if the project really needs those features. Then I could use an external oscillator
03:06 PM Lambda_Aurigae: you might want to read that whole appnote and see just how it does what it does too.
03:07 PM Lambda_Aurigae: also, read the datasheet to help understand just what's going on in that appnote.
03:09 PM taylor_: Guess its time to quit being lazy and get into it...
03:11 PM Lambda_Aurigae: for the lazy, there is ardweeny
03:14 PM taylor_: There is that... I started this hobby with an UNO. The attiny13 selection is to see how small I can make this thing.
11:34 PM daey_ is now known as daey
