[04:46:39] <averowsky> someone know from where I can recover low voltage (3V-5V) and current to 1.5A-2.0A stepper motors. Printers ?
[04:47:04] <averowsky> maybe I dont have to buy it...
[04:47:11] <averowsky> a new one
[05:21:01] <DKordic> averowsky: ATX power supply. I have 5 spare ones.
[05:24:00] <averowsky> DKordic: You are sure there is stepper not DC ?
[05:24:27] <averowsky> DKordic: I mean brush, sorry
[05:26:45] <DKordic> averowsky: Sorry, I thought power supply should be recovered.
[05:28:49] <averowsky> DKordic: no prob.
[06:53:43] <Lambda_Aurigae> averowsky, printers generally use 12V or 24V steppers.
[06:55:38] <averowsky> Lambda_Aurigae: acha.. need low voltage
[06:56:04] <Lambda_Aurigae> yeah...just saying, from my experience working on them, they run either 12V or 24V steppers.
[06:56:42] <Lambda_Aurigae> have only ever once seen 5V steppers and those came in a pile of surplus stuff.....I know they exist as you can buy them.
[07:02:27] <averowsky> Lambda_Aurigae: I will have to buy it. I would order from china but I guess I will have to wait 2 or 3 weeks, any experience ?
[07:03:20] <Lambda_Aurigae> none.
[07:03:27] <Lambda_Aurigae> I don't order from china generally.
[07:03:42] <Lambda_Aurigae> mostly I go with the 24V ones out of copiers.
[07:04:08] <Lambda_Aurigae> I fix copiers and printers for a living so have a ready supply of junk machines to salvage from.
[07:06:57] <averowsky> I need more torque and those with lower voltage number are very strong
[07:08:41] <Lambda_Aurigae> well, driving these at 24V gives them plenty of torque.
[07:08:53] <Lambda_Aurigae> they drive the innards of copiers and all.
[07:08:59] <Lambda_Aurigae> some of them are rather large too.
[07:09:21] <Lambda_Aurigae> but, if you only have 5V to use, a 5V stepper would be better.
[07:09:37] <averowsky> This one (24V) which I has is made for work with low current
[07:09:59] <averowsky> They has big resistance on coil like 55Ohms
[07:10:07] <averowsky> They has big resistance on coil like 55 Ohms
[07:10:44] <averowsky> I give them something about 0,3A
[07:12:14] <Lambda_Aurigae> I don't current limit my steppers....but,,,I use power supplies out of copiers to drive them too.
[07:13:43] <averowsky> Lambda_Aurigae: So those power supplies can give apropriate current to not burn the motor I guess ?
[07:20:04] <Lambda_Aurigae> same power supplies that drive them in the copiers.
[07:22:35] <averowsky> Ok
[12:28:10] <icantlogin> hey fellas
