[04:08:30] <Ad0> fucking EU regulations
[04:08:53] <Ad0> EU countries can't send picoPower attinys outside EU
[04:09:46] <hypermagic> hahha
[04:09:52] <hypermagic> that sounds stupid
[04:09:56] <Ad0> some terrorist crap
[04:10:18] <hypermagic> are you saying there are no terrorists in the eu ?
[04:10:22] <Ad0> "you can use picopower attinys to blow up shit, but not the other ones"
[04:10:33] <Ad0> no there are no terrorists inside EU
[04:10:34] <Ad0> :)
[04:10:38] <Ad0> lol
[04:10:38] <hypermagic> oh okey
[04:10:45] <hypermagic> i feel safe now
[04:10:52] <Ad0> yeah thanks to this regulation
[04:10:53] <Ad0> phew
[04:10:54] <Ad0> close one
[04:11:11] <Ad0> I have no way of getting it from NORWAY
[04:11:13] <hypermagic> did you try digikey btw?
[04:11:15] <Ad0> and ATMEL IS NORWEGIAN COMPANY
[04:11:18] <hypermagic> and ebay? ;>
[04:11:29] <Ad0> point is I need it *now*
[04:11:30] <Ad0> not in a week
[04:11:46] <hypermagic> i think you can order it via airmail from usa
[04:11:55] <Ad0> yeah for $102138938710294
[04:11:57] <hypermagic> they are good party with terrorist groups
[04:12:11] <Ad0> hehe
[04:12:13] <hypermagic> ohhh
[04:12:15] <hypermagic> no
[04:12:24] <hypermagic> they make atmel chips in china too no?
[04:12:26] <Ad0> I doubt there is overnight shipping from US for low cost
[04:12:31] <hypermagic> order directly from china .
[04:12:35] <Ad0> yeah
[04:12:51] <Ad0> which renders the EU regulation completely pointless
[04:12:56] <hypermagic> :)
[04:13:02] <hypermagic> no it is not pointless
[04:13:06] <Ad0> you also have to sign an end user form for any microcontroller
[04:13:17] <hypermagic> the point is to let chinese crap in, and don't let eu sell and make profit
[04:13:24] <Ad0> hehe
[04:13:41] <Ad0> the irony of not being able to get norwegian designed chips in norway
[04:13:54] <hypermagic> http://www.aliexpress.com/w/wholesale-attiny.html
[04:13:58] <hypermagic> here you go m8
[04:14:06] <Ad0> thanks, but I do not want to wait for 3 weeks
[04:14:15] <hypermagic> low power ones for cheap lol
[04:14:30] <Ad0> hehe yeah
[04:14:33] <Ad0> attiny88
[04:14:41] <Ad0> is that chip awesome or what
[04:14:58] <Ad0> but guess what, because of this, I ordered nrf51822 and won't be using AVR
[04:14:59] <hypermagic> i have some attiny85
[04:15:23] <Ad0> because I need bluetooth smart
[04:15:55] <hypermagic> i like the atmega48 series too
[04:15:58] <Ad0> I guess nrf51822 will consume less than an attiny + a HM-10
[04:16:14] <Ad0> I would love to test out both
[04:16:23] <hypermagic> very low power, and you can wire a 4x7 segment display on it, and a tweeter if you want to make a bomb like in the movies
[04:16:32] <Ad0> lol
[04:16:42] <hypermagic> beep beep
[04:16:48] <hypermagic> and counting down
[04:16:49] <hypermagic> ^^
[04:16:55] <Ad0> damn that's what I forgot to order
[04:16:59] <hypermagic> for all the idiots to panic
[04:17:02] <Ad0> a switch and a piezo
[04:17:13] <hypermagic> get some computer junk.
[04:17:15] <Ad0> you always forget something
[04:17:17] <Ad0> when ordering
[04:17:23] <hypermagic> pc speakers.
[04:17:30] <hypermagic> some pcs have piezo
[04:17:49] <hypermagic> all cdroms have pushbuttons
[04:18:08] <hypermagic> alarm clocks have piezos too, and beeping multimeters
[04:18:32] <Ad0> yeah
[04:18:37] <Ad0> I dont have any here :(
[04:19:07] <hypermagic> thrown out in the trash ?
[04:19:19] <Ad0> PC speakers are in the cabinets usually
[04:19:22] <Ad0> not soldered on the mobo
[04:19:28] <Ad0> I actually have an old mainboard here
[04:19:29] <hypermagic> yes
[04:19:40] <hypermagic> but i saw some on the motherboard too
[04:19:43] <hypermagic> tiny ones
[04:19:48] <hypermagic> dynamic, or piezo
[04:20:14] <hypermagic> http://www.atmel.com/devices/sam3s1c.aspx?tab=parameters
[04:20:31] <hypermagic> this would make an awesome bomb timer no?
[04:21:08] <Ad0> lul
[04:21:20] <hypermagic> it has a uniq identifier, so if it does not go off they will easily locate the customer ^^ it might have some gps builtin already secretly too
[04:22:50] <Ad0> =P
[04:23:42] <hypermagic> check this speaker out :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kh2AWswAMvw
[04:24:41] <hypermagic> and this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cM_sAxrAu7Q
[04:25:28] <Ad0> hehe
[04:25:34] <hypermagic> another one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qs9jiXOKNls
[04:25:57] <hypermagic> let's add some hdds too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMe2vza46cQ
[04:29:53] <hypermagic> doom e1m1 on floppy ^^ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7a7-5WYOKxE
[05:05:48] <hypermagic> lold? 4 floppy drive cnc with an avr http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEA4E3CxocI
[05:30:59] <hypermagic> wow now that is a minicnc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0vQIaUZGu4
[05:35:59] <malinus> hypermagic: now I want to make that one with an atmega32u4, where it's a character device that can be written to directly.
[05:36:02] <malinus> imagine
[05:36:34] <malinus> echo "My awesome CNC" | /dev/ttyUSB1
[05:45:29] <Elec_A> Hello, I am want to make a progressbar with LED bars but i have a problem in designing the circuit. i have used 4 bits of AVR to put BCD in output and connected it to a Decoder to make a sequence from 1 to 10. i used a sequence of tri state buffers. each buffer enables the previous buffer but it didn't work
[05:45:50] <Elec_A> then i used Logic gates but it became a very complex circuit.
[05:46:02] <Elec_A> does anybody have any simple ideas ?
[05:48:50] <Ad0> http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slaa283a/slaa283a.pdf
[05:52:02] <Ad0> that's low power man
[06:55:19] <hypermagic> elec a should use an atmega48 or something like that and forget about that driver ic
[06:56:52] <Lambda_Aurigae> or just cycle from 1 to X where X is the highest number he wants displayed..
[06:57:10] <Lambda_Aurigae> do said cycles at about 100Hz
[06:57:30] <Lambda_Aurigae> and forget all the buffer chip stuff.
[06:58:13] <Lambda_Aurigae> hmm...maybe faster...1KHz as he has up to 10 to light.
[06:58:48] <Lambda_Aurigae> or, cycle through them all once,,and do that cycle at 100Hz..
[06:59:02] <Lambda_Aurigae> err...repeat that cycle at 100Hz,,,rather.
[08:51:36] <xrlk> is microscheme practical
[08:51:39] <xrlk> no
[08:51:40] <xrlk> ok
[08:51:45] <xrlk> but what is the benefit if any
[08:53:01] <LeoNerd> I view it much like Arduino and a bunch of other things. A cute fun toy to get people interested
[08:54:02] <xrlk> ok
[09:12:40] <Ad0> what is the standard setting from an atmega
[09:12:44] <Ad0> 328p
[09:12:59] <Ad0> does it run at 16mhz with external crystal from factory?
[09:15:35] * LeoNerd decides that the 32U4 timer4 module is crazy
[09:49:57] * LeoNerd ponders the use of a tiny841 as a "DMX offload" chip
[09:50:03] <LeoNerd> Very few tinies have a UART
[10:00:09] <Ad0> how many baud can I get on 1 mhz
[10:00:12] <Ad0> how do I measure such stuff
[10:00:38] <LeoNerd> Using what sort of UART?
[10:06:00] <Ad0> yeah
[10:06:06] <Ad0> 2400 is fine really
[10:07:06] <Ad0> so glad I got a batch of new atmels
[10:31:23] <aczid> Ad0: did you find util/setbaud.h yet? :)
[10:31:31] <aczid> very handy
[10:36:35] <xrlk> ok
[10:37:36] <LeoNerd> I wonder if I'd have any luck selling a "DMX offload" board - not just the DMX sockets + RS-485 transciever, but a full UART + DMX protocol engine, in an SPI or I2C-accessed chip
[11:25:24] <Mr_Sheesh> LeoNerd - Better, make it able to do either/both, pin configurable?
[11:26:13] <LeoNerd> Mmm?
[11:26:19] <LeoNerd> Heh.. there's tonnes of just UART-adapters
[11:26:28] <LeoNerd> I don't need to make aaaaaanother one
[11:27:51] * Mr_Sheesh must be speaking Urdu again, nvm
[11:28:22] <LeoNerd> ?
[16:08:19] <hypermagic> this is old but still awesome (youscope) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1eNjUgaB-g
[18:10:58] <Lambda_Aurigae> Ad0, default for pretty much all ATMEGA and ATTINY chips is 1MHz on the internal RC oscillator...you do not generally want to do USART comms on the internal RC oscillator...it works but it can drift and cause issues, specially as the chip heats up or if your supply voltage wavers.
[18:13:46] <Ad0> thanks Lambda_Aurigae
[18:14:01] <Lambda_Aurigae> it's all in the datasheet.
[23:13:02] <vino> hi..
[23:15:31] <ferdna> hello vino
[23:37:55] <Casper> hey ferdna !
[23:56:54] * ferdna throws snow ball at Casper!
[23:57:30] <Casper> NO!!! NO MORE SNOW!!! IT'S GONE NO SNOW KEEP YOUR FUCKING SNOW!
[23:57:31] <Casper> :D
[23:59:14] <ferdna> :D
[23:59:16] <ferdna> hehehe
