[08:52:27] <kdehl> Hm. 3710 bytes of compiled code to handle a PS/2 keyboard.
[08:57:32] <Casper> look like you need to do some optimisation
[08:57:59] <Casper> I did a midi based bootloader in less than that
[08:58:12] <kdehl> Dunno how to do it though, I have quite a large table of data that takes a lot of space.
[08:58:17] <Casper> and it was not optimised
[08:58:32] <kdehl> That converts scancodes to ASCII or other special keys.
[08:58:33] <Casper> well, bbl
[11:35:38] <kdehl> Are the USB to PS/2 converters different depending on whether they are for keyboards or mice?
[11:45:29] <discorpia> kdehl: yes, also known as active and passive,
[11:45:49] <discorpia> kdehl: active (i.e. it has circuitry inside it) is required for keyboard
[11:50:09] <xelion> Horologium: Hi there. Are you busy later on? I need your help figuring something out regarding a PWM motor driver (A3964SB). How do I connect it to a bipolar (4.wire) stepper motor, in order to control it via an avr? any thoughts?
[11:51:29] <xelion> Horologium: The datasheet for the PWM driver is here https://dl.dropbox.com/u/11778919/A3964SB_PWM_controller_IC.pdf
[11:52:32] <xelion> I'm still using an attiny45, programming in assembly, of course;)
[11:53:25] <rue_mohr> you can code it in C, compile to assembler, clean it up, and use that
[11:53:26] <Tom_itx> usually there's a 1A 1B 2A 2B output
[11:53:48] <Tom_itx> day off?
[11:53:59] <rue_mohr> flu!
[11:54:08] <Tom_itx> keep it
[11:54:48] <rue_mohr> you dont want any?
[11:56:54] <Tom_itx> nope
[11:57:10] <Tom_itx> i feel crappy enough just being normal
[11:57:37] <kdehl> discorpia: I see.
[13:34:21] <Casper> kdehl: usb-ps2, the active ones... the difference is more software than hardware. the hardware is the same, except that the data pin on the ps2 is different (big deal!) The real differemnce is that the software emulate an usb mouse or keuboard
[13:34:36] <Casper> so yes, the emulation need to be different
[13:35:02] <Casper> as for the passive ones, it's really a pin changer. And the device support both protocols
[13:36:38] <RikusW> I got http://elektrotanya.com/goerz_unigor_a43_instruction-manual.pdf/download.html
[13:36:41] <RikusW> but its german...
[13:37:14] <RikusW> Metallschichwiderstand == metal resistor right ?
[13:37:32] <RikusW> Spulenwiderstand == metal wound.
[13:37:51] <[1]MrMobius> widerstand means resistance
[13:37:58] <RikusW> Kohleschichtwiderstand ?...
[13:38:03] <RikusW> That I figured out
[13:38:09] <RikusW> weerstand in Afrikaans
[13:38:17] <RikusW> not the first part..
[13:38:23] <[1]MrMobius> Kohl is carbon or coal
[13:38:30] <RikusW> ah
[13:38:43] <RikusW> schicht ?
[13:38:47] <[1]MrMobius> metallschich or metallschicht?
[13:38:53] <[1]MrMobius> that would be metal layer
[13:39:19] <RikusW> then there is another one -> Blechwiderstand
[13:39:26] <RikusW> couldn't figure that out..
[13:39:36] <[1]MrMobius> lead?
[13:39:42] <[1]MrMobius> hmm, ill have to look that up
[13:39:49] <[1]MrMobius> no, blei is lead
[13:40:03] <RikusW> it milliohms high current
[13:40:20] <[1]MrMobius> what are you doing by the way?
[13:40:32] <RikusW> I have that meter, but its not working
[13:40:50] <RikusW> only got this manual in German
[13:40:56] <[1]MrMobius> ah
[13:41:11] <RikusW> Silizium diode 1N4148 :)
[13:41:22] <RikusW> more usd to silicon
[13:41:35] <[1]MrMobius> hehe
[13:41:52] <RikusW> keramikkondensator - ceramic cap :)
[13:42:18] <[1]MrMobius> i studied in Germany but i left before i started learning electronics so i dont know a lot of the vocabulary for it
[13:42:32] <[1]MrMobius> do you know the names of those things in Afrikaans?
[13:42:40] <RikusW> yes
[13:42:46] <RikusW> its my native language
[13:43:46] <RikusW> at least I have a schematic now :)
[13:43:52] <RikusW> and parts list
[13:44:07] <RikusW> though there is odd resistance values
[13:44:20] <MrMobius> woops, got kicked
[13:44:51] <MrMobius> it looks like blech is plate or sheet metal
[13:45:08] <RikusW> Afrikaans is my mother tongue
[13:45:27] <MrMobius> ya
[13:45:34] <GuShH> what about your father, is it also a tongue?
[13:45:45] <MrMobius> its interesting though that some people know technical language only in English
[13:45:57] <GuShH> technical translations suck
[13:45:58] <MrMobius> in some languages they dont even have their own words for technical things
[13:46:29] <MrMobius> and other laguages invent new translations for that kind of stuff which is kind of funny sometimes
[13:46:37] <RikusW> I prefer English mostly for tech stuff
[13:46:54] <RikusW> tell me about custom translations
[13:47:04] <RikusW> some I'd rather avoid
[14:02:09] <RikusW> http://www.drkfs.net/UNIGOR.htm
[14:21:34] <RikusW> Blechwiderstand == Manganin sheet resistor
[14:22:33] <OndraSter__> sounds like german stuff
[14:25:24] <RikusW> it is
[14:25:56] <RikusW> I can figure out the meaning of a lot of german words
[14:26:05] <RikusW> but some are beyond me..
[14:27:00] <RikusW> at least I got the english manual now :)
[14:27:20] <MrMobius> thats good
[14:27:59] <MrMobius> some south africans used to work in the sme city as me. we compared Afrikaans and German words and some were similar. i never understood anything they said though.
[14:28:20] <OndraSter__> haha
[14:28:49] <MrMobius> its strange that even closely related languages can be unintelligible to each other
[14:30:07] <RikusW> its the pronounciation...
[14:30:13] <RikusW> reading it seems easier
[14:30:20] <RikusW> like Dutch
[14:30:41] <RikusW> MrMobius: are you German ?
[14:32:39] <MrMobius> no, just studied it then studied there and then worked for a few months
[14:33:33] <MrMobius> yep. same with the scandinavian languages.
[14:35:25] <OndraSter__> abcminiuser approves
[14:37:55] <abcminiuser> *Scandawegian
[17:59:51] <stefanct> lufa: do all control endpoints need to be handled by EVENT_USB_Device_ControlRequest or just the default one? i am a bit puzzled about them yet
[19:31:33] <AndreeeCZ> chickensk, test
[19:31:39] <AndreeeCZ> test
[19:31:44] <Horologium> fail
[19:32:56] <Steffanx> chickensk likes to talk to himself
[19:33:06] <Horologium> hence, fail
[19:33:40] <Steffanx> When he enjoyed it? Not really
[19:35:44] <chickensk> i am new here, friend was showing me how it works
[19:36:03] <chickensk> to people from Europe, where do you buy your chips ?
[19:37:10] <Horologium> there are people in europe?
[19:37:21] <Horologium> I thought it was full of europeans and frenchmen.
[19:37:41] <stefanct> chickensk: RS mostly
[19:37:57] <Steffanx> OndraSter__ tell the guy who lives in the same country as you where you buy you stuff
[19:38:42] <chickensk> thanks, I disliked delivery price, I am from Slovakia
[21:11:16] <Malinuss> chickensk, ebay, everything always from ebay
[21:11:47] <Malinuss> chickensk, best customer service and prices in the world, but slow delivery (1 week- 6weeks), always free though
[21:16:10] <chickensk> thanks, currently waiting for one week delivery (paid, not enough time) from ebay for atmega640 :)
[21:29:27] <Tom_itx> does studio6 support attiny10 with c?
[22:14:32] <Tom_itx> apparently so
