[07:12:57] <specing> OndraSter: https://imgur.com/gallery/cdsaL
[07:15:30] <corwin> lol
[07:15:36] <corwin> nice pic :)
[07:16:18] <specing> If you take into account the odd/even rule, it should be horrible
[07:16:53] <specing> (if you neglect the fact that it is horrible anyway)
[07:19:02] <Corwin> well they say 2012 is end of world..... we will have windows 8, then office 2012... apocalypse complete
[07:25:32] <specing> Corwin: Heh
[07:28:31] <Corwin> yum list php*
[07:28:34] <Corwin> damn
[07:29:05] <Tom_itx> is that their official logo?
[07:29:12] <Tom_itx> it should be
[07:29:14] <OndraSter> specing, i've seen that yesterday lol
[07:29:18] <specing> :D
[07:29:41] <OndraSter> Corwin, you didn't happen to watch their yesterday's announcement of MS Surface tablet?
[07:29:54] <Corwin> nope
[07:29:54] <OndraSter> because it is just awesome :D
[07:30:09] <OndraSter> apple has smartcover on their iPads? MS put keyboard into the cover.
[07:30:12] <Tom_itx> i told you, you were the only one. you didn't believe me?
[07:30:15] <OndraSter> :(
[07:33:10] <specing> What do you need a keyboard for? Its not like you're gonna use it for anything besides ocasional minesweeper
[07:36:06] <OndraSter> specing, if you need it
[07:36:07] <OndraSter> you have it
[07:36:08] <OndraSter> if you don't
[07:36:11] <OndraSter> you don't need to use it
[07:36:36] <Tom_itx> why pay for it then?
[07:37:03] <karlp> Tom_itx: you're forgetting, MS made it, so OndraSter loves it ;)
[07:37:14] <Tom_itx> that's like buying a hooker and sitting there and looking at her
[07:37:19] <OndraSter> Tom_itx, if you don't want it, you don't have to buy it
[07:37:28] <OndraSter> simple as that
[07:50:41] <specing> Oh lool, power failure
[07:50:58] <specing> the first thing that dies is the asus router
[07:51:11] <specing> the server survived it no prob. ;)
[07:52:11] <specing> I guess it has a huuuge cap on its powerline
[07:52:33] <GuShH> or less power draw
[07:53:11] <specing> or both
[07:53:44] <specing> I really need to make myself a UPS
[07:53:53] <jacekowski> i've got huge UPS
[07:53:59] <specing> Where can one find >10F caps?
[07:54:01] <jacekowski> 20kW to be precise
[07:54:04] <jacekowski> specing: ebay
[07:54:16] <jacekowski> they are called batteries
[07:54:26] <jacekowski> an have very high ESR
[07:55:35] <specing> What do you need a 20kW UPS for?
[07:55:50] <Landon> he's obviously running a very shoddy medical operation ;D
[07:57:03] <jacekowski> specing: i just got it cheap off ebay
[07:57:15] <jacekowski> specing: it's supplying everything in the house
[07:57:27] <jacekowski> i can even run electric oven when there is a power cut
[07:57:37] <jacekowski> batteries don't last very long though
[08:07:10] <specing> jacekowski: replace them ;P
[08:07:50] <specing> Are those regular "car" or sealed lead batteries?
[09:37:14] <jacekowski> specing: little bit bigger than car batteries
[09:37:24] <jacekowski> specing: when new those used to be 300Ah
[09:37:52] <specing> so truck batteries :D
[09:38:04] <jacekowski> yeah
[09:38:20] <specing> How many did you pay?
[09:38:26] <specing> s/many/much/
[09:38:48] <jacekowski> those were used batteries that were used to start generators
[09:39:08] <jacekowski> and had problem turning it over
[09:39:29] <jacekowski> so i got them for free
[10:41:45] <vectory> http://blog.fefe.de/?ts=b11e8b28 <- trolololo
[10:41:53] <vectory> oops wrong channel
[10:42:34] <vectory> though, for the interested reader: head of left wing party proposes 100% tax on everything above 40k€/month xD
[10:43:08] <vectory> in germany
[10:43:10] <OndraSter> lo
[10:43:11] <OndraSter> l
[10:43:42] <vectory> hits the spot, imho :D
[10:44:02] <vectory> enough of politics
[10:44:03] <OndraSter> "soo, you had income 39 990€ last month?"
[10:46:43] <vectory> hm?
[10:46:54] <vectory> i did, in fact. whats it to you?
[10:47:01] <OndraSter> :D
[10:47:29] <vectory> ;)
[10:48:50] <vectory> really, tho, what did you try to say?
[10:50:32] <OndraSter> that you had just below the limir
[13:23:31] <Jordan_U_work> I'm still having trouble programming my XMEGA-A1 XPlained board via USB using Flip. The microcontroller it has, ATXMEGA128A1, is not included in the device list (but ATXMEGA128A1-U is listed). I also get many error messages when trying to select USB as the interface, the first of which is "This application has failed to start because libusb0.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem".
[13:30:38] <Jordan_U_work> After closing that error message window I get "AtLibUsbDfu.dll not found", after that "Could not load dynamic library". This is with Flip 3.4.5 on both Windows XP and 7.
[13:53:12] <cyanide> so i have an lg optimus pro c660 which is a supported device. im downloading this file from here: http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=stable&device=c660
[13:53:32] <cyanide> is there a list of instructions on how to do this?
[13:54:37] <Corwin> to do what ?
[13:54:57] <cyanide> to install it on my phone
[13:56:26] <specing> cyanide: dude wrong channel
[13:56:47] <cyanide> crap
[13:56:59] <cyanide> sorry lol
[13:57:03] <Corwin> lol
[13:57:14] <cyanide> it felt weird seeing so many familiar nicks
[13:57:34] <Corwin> anyway there is wiki at cyanogenmod.com
[14:57:20] <Tom_itx> abcminiuser__ you around?
[16:46:00] <Jordan_U> I'm getting my ICE-3 tomorrow, hopefully I'll actually be able to work once I have it.
[18:34:38] <jnh> Hello all.
[18:34:44] <Casper> o/
[18:36:05] <OndraSter> hello jnh
[18:36:06] <jnh> I need to implement a serial protocol that I can tunnel over MIDI sysex (which limits me to 7 bits per octet) that can read and write configuration to and from EEPROM and send firmware blocks to reflash the device. This is making my head hurt. Surely someone else has done something similar that I can use as the beginnings of the work?
[18:36:38] <OndraSter> wasn't there some kind of "8bits to 7bits" compression?
[18:37:13] <OndraSter> (I know it makes no sense)
[18:37:23] <jnh> OndraSter some googling shows there is stuff for GSM, but I think I can work around that by just 0 padding the payload and including a payload length byte.
[18:37:24] <Casper> that's the fun thing with midi
[18:37:47] <Casper> you have to basically use 7 bits, if you need 8 you have to hack something
[18:38:04] <Casper> hence why the sysex are proprietary per manufacturer
[18:38:19] <Kevin`> make it really easy, use 4 bits per byte and the rest for control or nothing
[18:38:33] <jnh> Kevin`: that's an awesome idea.
[18:38:49] <jnh> maybe I can use the remaining 3 for interleaving a CRC or something.
[18:39:01] <Kevin`> alternately use one of those zero-balanced tables
[18:39:12] <Kevin`> not that it needs to be, I think?
[18:41:24] <jnh> what I'm really wondering is if there is an existing protocol that I can modify. I mean configuring our devices is a pretty common use.
[18:46:28] <Kre10s> Say you want to use one of the pin-change interrupts to catch a button press. what pullup and cap values do you guys normally use?
[18:47:18] <OndraSter> 4k7 pullup, 10nF cap
[18:47:34] <OndraSter> 10 - 100nf, depends on whether I want to order the cap or can use the one I have here
[18:47:44] <OndraSter> also depends on whether I need the reaction immediatily
[18:48:43] <Holism> Heya. Are the [8] analog inputs of the typical AVR decent resolution? I seem to recall anecdotes that they were rather noisy and that an ADC should be used. Is this correct?
[18:48:57] <OndraSter> with 100nf and 4k7 it is 2,35ms to get to about full Vcc
[18:49:05] <OndraSter> (or gnd if you are active low)
[18:49:13] <OndraSter> counting 5T as the charge time
[18:49:32] <OndraSter> Holism, 10bits on mega
[18:49:39] <OndraSter> 12bits on xmega
[18:49:41] <Kre10s> I've been experimenting with 832K and 33nF, and getting good results.
[18:49:50] <OndraSter> 832k pullup/pulldown?!
[18:49:52] <OndraSter> that's a lot
[18:50:29] <Kevin`> Holism: when used properly they work quite well, in my experience
[18:50:56] <Kre10s> 832k pullup. I had a 10k, but then I would need to de-bounce it myself.
[18:51:24] <OndraSter> 10 - 100nf cap solves it just fine
[18:52:46] <Kre10s> I get 1.6us to output.
[18:53:27] <Kre10s> I always see people using 10k and such but don't get why.
[18:53:48] <OndraSter> common values really
[18:53:58] <OndraSter> I use 4k7 because I have a reel of them
[18:54:05] <OndraSter> just as I have two reels of 100nf caps
[18:55:39] <Holism> OndraSter, Kevin`, thanks. Good to know.
[18:56:04] <OndraSter> np
[19:00:46] <Holism> I did notice that when not connected, they are high
[19:01:00] <Holism> at least on my arduino
[19:01:40] <OndraSter> internal pullups enabled?
[19:02:01] <OndraSter> or just stray floating stuff in the air
[19:02:13] <OndraSter> and a lot of interference on the board
